Professors Making Waves: From Award Nominations to Groundbreaking Research!

It’s an exciting time in the academic world! Faculty members are being celebrated and recognized for their remarkable contributions to education and research. First off, nominations are now open for the prestigious Faculty Distinguished Research Award. If you know an exceptional faculty member with groundbreaking work, now’s the time to celebrate their achievements! All nomination materials should be sent to Jennifer Capretta, the executive director of operations, who is overseeing the award process.

In other news, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) is set to welcome a rising star in the world of academia. Juncheng Yang will join the faculty in 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Yang is well-known for his research focusing on the performance, sustainability, and reliability of computing systems. His addition to SEAS promises to bolster the department’s reputation and contribute to cutting-edge research in the field.

Meanwhile, UNMC’s Department of Anesthesiology is excited to highlight one of its own – Mark Cheney, MD.
