NBA Best Bets for Thursday: Nuggets vs. Pelicans odds, picks ... (Sporting News)

We break down Thursday night's Nuggets-Pelicans nightcap, providing our best bet and favorite player prop bet for this Western Conference showdown.

Denver won all 10 of those games, and covered nine of the ten. Or will New Orleans make a move to slide past the Lakers for the eight-seed? Kevon Looney and Draymond Green just held him to nine boards in Golden State on Tuesday — here's betting he'll be limited to ten or fewer again tonight. 1 record in his conference and (b) he has made every one of his teammates better in the process. The last time New Orleans traveled to Ball Arena with Zion inactive, the Nugs won 122-113, fueled by a 36-24 third quarter. Since the 2022-23 NBA season tipped off, the Nuggets have been favored at home by between five and seven points 10 different times. For all the squawking JoJo has done about losing MVPs to Jokic, he sure avoided walking the walk in that one). Joker may act like he doesn't care about the award, but we all know that deep down his competitive fire will fuel him to battle for it. With just over five percent of the NBA regular season remaining, we are smack-dab in the middle of the 'home stretch.' Basically 75 percent of the teams in the Association are gunning for wins right now, including the Nuggets and Pelicans in this evening's nightcap (10 p.m. The Nuggets draw Phoenix tomorrow, one of the bigger threats in the West when Kevin Durant is active alongside Devin Booker, so it's possible Denver will rest its franchise player to save his energy for tomorrow's tilt. Zion is and always will be a game-changer, capable of explosive takeovers that leave defenses slack-jawed in disbelief. Nikola Jokic and the top-seeded Nugs look to cruise to the finish line and maintain home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, while Brandon Ingram and the Pels are trying to move up in — or out of — the play-in tournament.

Not only did the Nuggets struggle to score the ball, but they also struggled to defend at times as they let Brandon Ingram (31) and CJ McCollum (23) combine for 54 points. Hopefully Jokic is able to return to the lineup tomorrow night and the Nuggets can get back into the win column. Denver struggled to score all night as they only scored 40 points in the first half and only sightly improved in the second half scoring 44 points.

NUGGETS FALL TO PELICANS ON SEASON-LOW THREE-POINT ... (Nuggets.com)

The Nuggets were without the two-time MVP, Nikola Jokić, who was listed as out just before game time due to calf tightness. Without their star and hub of the ...

The last time only one Nuggets player made a three-pointer was on December 22, 2014, in Charlotte (Ty Lawson). The hope is that he’ll return to the floor shortly, perhaps as soon as Friday when the Nuggets head to Phoenix to play the fourth-seeded Suns. Brown gave the Nuggets a boost in the second quarter, filling it up with 9 points on 4-of-6 from the field on multiple drives and even a floater. The Pelicans quickly countered when Murphy III hit his third three of the game, and New Orleans never looked back on that double-digit advantage. He was previously listed as questionable with the injury on Wednesday evening. It was CJ McCollum’s time to shine on a quartet of threes, giving New Orleans the 70-53 lead at the 5:37 mark in the quarter. Denver was finally able to break down the door on a pair of huge dunks from Braun to whittle New Orleans’ lead down to single digits for the first time since the second quarter. Denver managed things out on an 11-4 run to bring the score to 82-70 in favor of New Orleans. Denver went a woeful 4-of-28 from behind the arc, just 14.3 percent, the Nuggets’ worst three-point performance of the season. “I felt, for the most part, without having looked at the film, I felt we missed a lot of wide-open looks. That’s what happened on Thursday night when the Denver Nuggets lost 107-88 to the New Orleans Pelicans in the first half of a back-to-back, sending the Western Conference’s #1 seed to just their first loss in five games. The Nuggets were without the two-time MVP, Nikola Jokić, who was listed as out just before game time due to calf tightness.
