Its games are megahits regardless, the Switch is crushing its console competition in terms of sales. It’s true that Tears certainly looks better than some other Switch exclusives in this footage, namely recent Pokemon games which are eye-gougingly terrible, but I do think we’ve long passed a line where the Switch’s ancient hardware, which was already dated when it debuted, is now actively detracting from its games, and we badly need to see a true hardware update, if not a fully new console at this point. Yes, you can argue visuals don’t matter much when it comes to Nintendo hits, but man, wouldn’t it be nice if they were just…a lot better than this? If there have been visual improvements made since 2017, I’m not sure I saw any in this footage. Yes, I do understand the argument that Nintendo is in a league of its own where visuals almost don’t matter. I am talking about how the game literally looks, its visual fidelity.

Or, as in Aonuma’s other example, fuse a long stick with a much longer pitchfork to create a weapon that lets you poke enemy’s from a great distance away. After exploring more of the Sky Island, Aonuma came up to a boulder sitting on a cliffside. Aonuma took that MacGyver’d hammer and bludgeoned two other constructs with it, noting that this new weapon had “much better durability.” That’s good. Similar in aesthetic to the guardians from BotW, Aonuma battled the construct with a branch Link just picked up. Once done with the fight, Aonuma showed another of Link’s abilities. Unless you get really lucky and find one of these out in the world, you’re going to have to try to get pre-order these accessories if you want to avoid paying absurd third-party seller prices for the privilege of owning them. Of course, that’s assuming that they’re lucky enough to beat all the scalpers and pre-order one, that is. That my butt is firmly planted on the hype train without knowing any of the details I’d normally get hyped for... I could see the nigh limitless potential of the kinds of shenanigans I could get up to running around Hyrule. Where are the shrines (are they even there anymore?) and what kinds of puzzles will be in them? How’d those islands get up in the sky? As much as I enjoy The Legend of Zelda, it’s never really been a series that I get out of bed for.

Link's Ultrahand in Tears of the Kingdom honors a classic Nintendo toy (Polygon)

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gives Link a new power: Ultrahand. It's a callback to the classic Nintendo toy of (almost) the same name.

That game was a downloadable WiiWare title that was exclusive to Club Nintendo members; players used the Ultra Hand to grab pieces of meat cooking on a barbecue grill. The original Ultra Hand was developed by the late Gunpei Yokoi, the creator behind Nintendo’s Game & Watch, the inventor of the cross-shaped D-pad seen on Nintendo gamepads, and the original designer of the Game Boy. Nintendo’s WarioWare series has featured multiple Ultra Hand-inspired microgames, and the device has made non-playable cameos in Nintendo even released a dedicated Ultra Hand video game in 2010, Grill-Off with Ultra Hand! Part prank tool, part skill toy, the novelty device was manufactured by Nintendo for at least seven years. While the Ultrahand ability in Tears of the Kingdom will let Link pick up and move far away objects, Nintendo’s nearly 60-year-old Ultra Hand toy, well, did the exact same thing.

However, enemies can also be equipped with fused weapons, and will also be able to take advantage of their unique traits. Link fights the construct with a tree branch and it breaks, showing that the controversial weapon degradation from Breath of the Wild exists in the sequel. While exploring one of the Sky Islands, Link encounters a new enemy for Tears of the Kingdom, called a Construct. In a final Fuse example, Aonuma fused a special mushroom to Link’s shield. Aonuma then demonstrates one of Link’s new abilities, Recall, and upon using Recall on the meteor, it rewinds the trajectory of the meteor and returns it the sky, with Link in tow.

Something is corrupting the ocean, and as you bring in your catches, improve your boat and explore further, you are drawn into a compelling and sparsely-written horror-tinged mystery story. (Fun fact: Ultrahand, the name of Link’s object-manipulating power in Tears of the Kingdom, is a reference to [this 1960s Nintendo grabber toy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_Hand) designed by Gunpei Yokoi, who would later invent the Game Boy.) He can even swim through rock, diving into the ceiling of an underground cave in order to appear at the top of a hill. Some fans have expressed disappointment that Tears of the Kingdom looks so similar to its predecessor; the Switch’s tech wasn’t cutting-edge even in 2017, and is now really showing its age, especially when you see games on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X now. Shipwrecked on the rocks near a small fishing town, you are given a run-down boat, sent out to catch cod, mackerel and squid, and warned to be back before dark. Aonuma showed Link tracking down a piece of fallen rock on the surface, then using a time-reversing power to ride it back up to the island above. [in a video presentation yesterday](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6qna-ZCbxA) – and now I’m sold. And with it arrived The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which casually redrew the blueprint of open-world games, replacing repetitive missions and box-ticking busywork with a genuine sense of wonder and discovery. In Tears of the Kingdom, floating islands hover above Hyrule’s familiar terrain, and you can move freely between the sky-kingdom above and the grassland, rivers and forests below.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Should Really Let the Cat Out of The Bag (Game Rant)

Breath of the Wild taunted players by not letting them pet dogs, so The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom should fix that while adding cats.

While the tone of the story was overall melancholic and dark, the cute and happy moments were just as memorable. The best games have a balance between the dark moments and the light, and that's where Twilight Princess gets it right. This feature was forgotten about after Skyward Sword, but as Tears of the Kingdom appears to be bringing back monsters, mechanics, and items from the past, being able to pet and pick up cute animals should make a comeback too.

Where to Buy Nintendo Switch OLED Tears of the Kingdom Edition ... (StyleCaster)

Here's where to buy Zelda "Tears of the Kingdom" Nintendo Switch OLED limited edition console, as the sequel to "Breath of the Wild".

What is The Legend of Zelda: The Tears of the Kingdom about? The Tears of the Kingdom is a direct follow-up to the critically acclaimed Breath of the Wild on March 3, 2017. We don’t know for sure yet, but if the 10-minute-long video presentation is anything to go by, this is going to be a very good game indeed. Where can you buy the Nintendo Switch Tears of the Kingdom OLED edition?

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – New gameplay mechanics detailed (GamesHub)

Nintendo has shared a dense, detailed look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to the acclaimed Nintendo Switch launch title, ...

He used the ability to construct a raft out of some big logs, pick them up as a group, and drop them in water. While exploring one of the Sky Islands, Link encounters a new enemy for Tears of the Kingdom, called a Construct. Link fights the construct with a tree branch and it breaks, showing that the controversial weapon degradation from Breath of the Wild exists in the sequel. Aonuma then demonstrates one of Link’s new abilities, Recall, and upon using Recall on the meteor, it rewinds the trajectory of the meteor and returns it the sky, with Link in tow. The demo began with protagonist Link, now sporting lusciously long hair, riding through the familiar setting of Hyrule on his horse.
