The difference here is that Jason signed a lucrative, multiyear contract extension (and subsequent big deals). You need to consider the reality that Edmunds is signing a one-year deal, at this point in free agency, one year after he re-signed with the Steelers on a one-year contract more than a month into free agency. Edmunds has lined up at free safety and has played closer to the line of scrimmage, positioning himself to go against slot receivers and tight ends, which Gardner-Johnson did a lot last season for the Eagles.
