Tennessee appears to like the Plavsic vs. Tennessee set for 9:36 p.m. FAU all-time leading 3-point shooter Michael Forrest hit a 3-pointer prior to the commercial. FAU is outrebounding Tennessee with nine offensive rebounds to Tennessee's eight. It was his first made 3-pointer in 19 days, a drought dating back to the Owls' regular season finale vs. The Owls have been held to multiple three-minute stretches without scoring. He has three 3-pointers on the night. The Vols are seeking the second Elite Eight appearance in program history. Tennessee star's brutally honest admission after loss to Florida Atlantic (ClutchPoints)

Tennessee Volunteers basketball's Josiah-Jordan James summed up his team's March Madness loss to the Florida Atlantic with this blunt take.

They should look to one of the team’s leaders for the answer to that question. James admitted it was “tough to say.” Unfortunately for [Florida Atlantic Owls](https://clutchpoints.com/fau-basketball-news-nicholas-boyds-warning-after-upsetting-tennessee).

The worst part for Tennessee basketball? Florida Atlantic 'wanted it ... (The Tennessean)

Tennessee basketball senior Josiah-Jordan James is one of those players. So in a somber and quiet locker room, multiple sets of eyes were locked in on him when ...

They’ve accomplished a lot and won a lot of games. Not due to a lack of effort. This was a lack of confidence. Playing a winnable Sweet 16 game in the world’s most famous arena against a mid-major team that -- while undeniably feisty -- was smaller and less talented and trailed by nine in the first half. [Forever good and never great](https://www.knoxnews.com/story/sports/columnists/university-of-tennessee/john-adams/2023/03/24/tennessee-basketball-rick-barnes-march-madness-sweet-16-ncaa-tournament-history/70022326007/) is a special brand of torture for a sports fan. None of the four seniors scored more than James’ 10 points. “Even to make it this far is a blessing. I also know that of the four teams that played in the East Regional in New York on Thursday night, three played as if they belonged. Maximum effort was all that Tennessee had left, really, having been stripped down to this version by injuries and a late-season slide. “Sometimes you don't seek it out, but things get back to you. They were sad, of course. Things get sent to you.”

Tennessee Basketball: What caused the Vols' 55-62 loss vs FAU (All For Tennessee)

Tennessee basketball couldn't get it done against the FAU Owls and failed to make it past the Sweet Sixteen for the 8th time in 9 appearances.

It’s a shame that the Volunteers lost, but if we look back on the season, it was one hell of a run. And then along with that, offensive rebounds where we let them get downhill, a couple situations where those — we did a better job in the second half staying down on shot fakes. I don’t understand how the best defense in the nation lets a pretty average FAU team do that and score 40 points in the second half of the game. A common theme from both Vescovi and Barnes is the crucial factor of letting them get second chance opportunities. They had a five-point lead at halftime, and it seemed like the game was theirs. It felt like this game was in the Vols’ hands, and they just gave it to FAU.

FAU Took That Sweet Sixteen Game Away From Tennessee, And ... (Duke Basketball Report)

Duke fans naturally took an interest in Tennessee's game vs. Florida Atlantic Thursday after the Vols pushed Duke around last weekend. We had FAU to advance ...

Even so, it’s just really surprising to see a mature, older team roll over like this, and to admit it. Some of that has to do with that answer not just on the offensive end but it’s the defensive end, too. He did make the Elite Eight the following season, 2007-08, but since then he’s made the Sweet Sixteen just twice, this year obviously and in 2018-19. You’d expect them to be, but it’s a big stage.” No knock on the school, but it’s not a top-tier university. You’re not going to get McDonald’s All-American’s at a school like FAU.

Tennessee Basketball: Rick Barnes reacts to Sweet 16 loss to FAU (Rocky Top Talk)

Tennessee was bounced out of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night, losing to No. 9 seed FAU in New York City. The Volunteers got out to a small lead early, ...

But I’ve been doing it a long time, and I know that’s — I like to say I’d like to see them all do what we do at the University of Tennessee with our administrators, not just basketball. I just think going forward, the game is always going to be a great game. I will remember that they in so many ways just represented the University of Tennessee in a first-class way. He’s done it in practice in terms of just — but to put him out there where he’s really trying to learn how to run a team and where he had given us — where he had been so good rebounding the ball, playing off the ball. Again, I could sit here and talk about a lot of different things, but the fact is those guys have been through a lot. I think it’s a real compliment to our seniors because they’re the ones that continue to stay together and didn’t get down on each other, tried to help pull the young guys along with them. But I thought we allowed them to get downhill and not guard the ball the way we needed to. Again, we needed to be more aggressive going at the basket, I thought, in the second half. We’ve got a group of guys that are just resilient and they want to keep getting better. I know you said a lot of things happened this season that not a lot of people know about, so when you look at that adversity, what are you proud of? We know we wanted more, but there’s so much stuff that went on, injuries and people in and out of the lineup where a lot of people would just quit. As hard as this is right now for you guys in this moment, for both of the student-athletes, what do you reflect upon this season that you are proud of?
