UConn men's basketball demolishes Arkansas to advance to Elite ... (The UConn Blog)

The four-seeded Huskies are now one win away from the Final Four after making their 12th Elite Eight.

UConn (28-8) is back to the first Elite Eight for the first time since 2014. It was a show of exactly what makes the Huskies great. UConn’s ball movement was great, and the Huskies assisted on 22 of 31 field goals made. The Huskies were 17-28 from the field in the first half, including 4-9 from beyond the arc, with eight players finding the scoresheet. Jordan Walsh scored to bring his team back to within three with 12:04 left in the half but that was the closest they would come. Jordan Hawkins didn’t hit a 3-pointer until the second half, but led the way with 24 points, as he was assertive driving to the rim and was a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.

Men's Basketball: UConn takes on Arkansas under bright lights of ... (UConn Daily Campus)

Going from Albany to the incredible environment of Las Vegas is truly a change of scenery, yet, is the reality of this year's NCAA Tournament environment ...

“I said from the beginning; I think our depth is going to win us the championship. It may be the shot of Nahiem Alleyne or the inside presence of Donovan Clingan, but it nonetheless will all be needed for a win on Thursday. [It’s] really hard to win a game in this tournament,” said Musselman after the Razorbacks win over Kansas. If there’s one thing to take away from this roster, especially after their comeback win over the Jayhawks, it’s that this team has talent from head to toe. While that game was a blowout by a score of 102-67, UConn possesses a 3-1 advantage historically against their opponent and they’ll hope to repeat history with major stakes on the line. Just as they did in upstate New York, they’re going to need the same as the competition ramps up and the lights only get bigger.

UConn vs. Arkansas score: Live updates for March Madness 2023 ... (CBSSports.com)

Live score, highlights and updates as the Huskies and Razorbacks square off in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.

Doing so turned out to be no problem for the Huskies, who led 6-3 in fast break points and edged the Razorbacks 9-4 in points off turnovers during the first half while building a lead that turned out to be insurmountable. This sequence from the Huskies in the first half stood out as an example of how well they adjusted to the game's pace. But a blowout loss in the Sweet 16 will send them into the offseason on a sour note. Sanogo dominated UConn's run through the first weekend of the Big Dance, scoring 28 points in an 87-63 win over Iona in the first round and 24 in a 70-55 win over Saint Mary's during the second round. 50 in the metric and seemed intent on making UConn adapt to its style in the first half. 8 seed Arkansas 88-65 in the West Regional Semifinals during the opening night of Sweet 16 action.

The UConn men are on a business trip to Vegas, but had a typical tourist problem: dirty hotel rooms. So the NCAA found them new digs.

If they win, they would play either UCLA or Gonzaga in the West Regional final on Saturday. The players, coaches and other members of the traveling party found their hotel accommodations unsuitable when they arrived Tuesday afternoon, several rooms not sufficiently cleaned from apparently rowdy previous guests. The Huskies were able to make the move and assemble for their team dinner Tuesday night, and practice on schedule Wednesday.

The Huskies will play Gonzaga on Saturday with a trip to the Final Four on the line. Connecticut holds a 3-2 edge in the previous five matchups, but Gonzaga won 73-70 in their last game on Nov. In his fifth season as head coach, Hurley has Connecticut back among the nation's elite programs. They made easy work of Arkansas with an 88-65 win they led wire to wire. It was a debacle. It wasn't what you expected when you got to Las Vegas for the Sweet 16.
