A 17-year-old student shot and wounded two administrators at his high school in Denver on Wednesday, and the victims were taken to area hospitals, officials said. Officials didn't provide details about the circumstances that led to the daily searches. Mayor Michael Hancock had earlier said the sweatshirt had an astronaut on it. Police said Wednesday night they had found the suspect's vehicle in Park County, but they were still searching for him. He was believed to be associated with a 2005 red Volvo XC90 with Colorado license plate BSCW10.

DPS Superintendent Alex Marrero said Wednesday that classes at East will be canceled for the rest of the week.

Officials said they played a key role in quickly responding to the administrators' injuries and getting them help. Details: Denver police chief Ron Thomas said the male student was enlisted in a safety plan that required he be patted down daily before entering the school. Police say they know his identity and will conduct a search warrant at his residence.

Police found a body in Park County near the suspect's car. Police have not yet identified the body but a shelter-in-place for the area has been lifted.

That was apparently for a student who needed medical attention not related to the shooting. Students who drove to school were escorted to their car and free to go. There will be two armed officers posted at the school for the rest of the school year. There was a large police presence at the school, which is located at 1600 City Park Esplanade in downtown Denver near City Park. Removing them was a mistake and we must move swiftly to correct it. One was listed in serious condition, one was initially listed in critical and then upgraded to serious after surgery on Wednesday afternoon.
