Schultz is joining Houston on a contract worth up to $9 million deal, according to the source.

[The Athletic’s NFL free agency live blog](https://theathletic.com/live-blogs/nfl-free-agency-live-updates-signings-deals-news-2023/fRR5dCxHZ2RC/). Singletary likely didn’t have a big market in free agency because he doesn’t have the top-end speed to break a run, he’s not a physical back that gains tough yardage and isn’t a huge asset in the pass game. However, Singletary is a solid rotational back that can be the lead guy for a handful of games. Singletary had a productive four-year career for the Bills as their most dependable back. The Cowboys were hopeful of working out a somewhat team-friendly extension with him last summer but ultimately ended up using the $10.9 million franchise tag. The deal is a little surprising considering Schultz was the top tight end in this free-agency class.

Dalton Schultz is going from the Cowboys to the Texans, agreeing to a reported one-year, $9 million deal.

After playing on the $10.9 million franchise tag last season, Schultz will be looking for more than that. While Houston traded its top receiver, it has made some other moves to help solidify its offensive unit as it might select a quarterback with the No. The 26-year-old has spent his entire career with the Cowboys, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 draft.
