How students built Ireland's first satellite (European Space Agency)

Ireland's upcoming EIRSAT-1 mission is already achieving its ambition of empowering a new generation of Irish space scientists and engineers.

Former UCD student and EIRSAT-1 Chief Engineer Joe Thompson said: “Developing our own deployable antenna was a great educational experience for the team. I have had the opportunity to build, test and characterise the detector that will fly in space onboard EIRSAT-1. These companies include Dublin-based EnBio, which developed a specialist surface coating for the Sun-observing Solar Orbiter mission. This experiment could help develop a future space gamma-ray telescope designed to peer deep into the Universe. EIRSAT-1 will continue to boost Irish space education after its assembly, with UCD building a dedicated ground station that will enable students to communicate with the CubeSat and gain hands-on experience of mission operations. UCD PhD student and EIRSAT-1 team member Rachel Dunwoody said: “My PhD research is based on GMOD, which hopes to detect gamma rays from some of the most energetic events in the universe.

Biden tried to match Mr. “Our goals can be the same,” Mr. But Mr. Mr. (Ronald Reagan, who was also Irish American, beat him to the office by more than 40 years.) But the current president may be the most unabashedly proud of his Irish roots, saying often that he got his “Irish values” from his mother, who told him to treat people with respect and dignity. McCarthy struck a notably warm note in his introduction, saying that he wanted to have the kind of productive relationship with Mr. “Joey, never bend, never bow, never kneel, never yield,” Mr. Not to mention the confirmation of Mr. But the real proof that the Oval Office is occupied by a fiercely proud Irish American was Mr. Aides and reporters are expecting an almost giddy president when he returns to his ancestral homeland for the first time since assuming the office he sought for decades. There was also the green tie and the shamrocks in the breast pocket of the jacket that President Biden wore to greet Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s prime minister, or taoiseach, for his traditional visit on St.
