Missouri guard Kobe Brown celebrates with fans after an NCAA college basketball game against Tennessee in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament, Friday, March 10, 2023, in Nashville, Tenn. They're a good team, but I just think the story is outweighing the team. No. Titus played college basketball at Ohio State from 2006-10. I think Missouri is a good story more than they are a good team. I think it's like Missouri fans are so beaten down that they're just looking for — the fact that they have a good team this year has made them think that their team is better than what it actually is.

Missouri basketball beats Tennessee in first SEC Tournament game ... (Columbia Daily Tribune)

The Tigers moved to the SEC tournament semifinals on Friday, with a 79-71 victory at Bridgestone Arena. DeAndre Gholston had to hit a half-court buzzer-beater ...

However, Missouri will have something it didn’t that night in Kobe Brown, who missed the first matchup with Alabama due to an injury. It’s no secret that the Crimson Tide are the team to beat in the tournament. A win against Alabama would be a season-defining moment for Missouri head coach Dennis Gates, as he continues his efforts to guide the Tigers back to glory. With just nine seconds remaining on the first half clock, Brown got the ball and fired up a 3-pointer from somewhere in Wilson County. When Missouri entered Friday’s game, it knew exactly who its opponent would be in the SEC semifinals. With less than 12 remaining in the first half, Gates took his first timeout. "We don't allow the outside conditions to impact our internal belief in each other," Gates said. Later in the half, things improved. The Tigers and Volunteers got off to a defensive showdown early on. After that, the Tigers settled in and went on a run. Neither team gave the other an inch, and the game came all the way down to the wire. Missouri spent the first half violating one of Gates’ cardinal rules, racking up a negative assist-to-turnover ratio.

Missouri men's basketball embarks on SEC Tournament against ... (Rock M Nation)

The Tigers are hoping to find themselves in the SEC Tournament semifinals for the first time in team history, squaring off against Tennessee in Nashville.

Mizzou may be able to hang around, but unless they put forth one of their best shooting performances of the season, this will likely be a Crimson Tide win. on the offensive end is next to impossible, so Missouri’s best hope is to score with them. The Crimson Tide proved to be too much to handle in an 85-64 win at Mizzou Arena on Jan. Now, they get the privilege of being able to take on Brandon Miller and No. Both of these teams proved to be a difficult test to Mizzou in the regular season, the former winning both matchups and the latter falling in an overtime loss. Texas A&M is looking to bolster its resume following a dominant conference season, in which the Aggies flipped the consensus on their team as a whole. For the Tigers, this SEC Tournament could establish the start of something special or a precursor of what’s to come in the NCAA Tournament. This could be the spot where Missouri fans truly see how the coaches execute, and it’ll be up to the players to put it into action. Updated: Well, the Tigers made it to their first ever SEC Tournament semifinal. The Tigers swipe steals on 14.8% of opponent possessions, good for second in the country. Missouri has yet to make a 3-pointer too and is hooting 33.3% form the field. Mizzou’s only meeting against Alabama ended in a 21-point home defeat to the Crimson Tide.
