There Is An Unbelievable Amount Of Pressure On 'Starfield' This Fall (Forbes)

On Wednesday, Starfield finally gave us a release date. Well, a new release date, and one that comes nearly a year after the one they confidently projected.

Starfield is now a third series in that same vein, centered on Fallout-like factions and No Man’s Sky-like exploration, and I would be pretty surprised if the game did not deliver, especially with all this extra time to cook. If the game is bad. We have gone from November 22, 2022, to the promise that the game would make it out in the first half of 2023, to the new date which is outside of that window, September 6, 2023. Bethesda really does not launch huge, mainline series games that do not go on to be big hit, whether we’re talking about Fallout or Elder Scrolls. We’ve seen surprise hits here and there (Hi-Fi Rush!) but nothing at the huge, blockbuster scale Sony is known for. And since sprawling Bethesda games are not exactly known for launching bug-free, it seems like Bethesda really wants to nail this.

Everything we spotted in the Starfield launch date announcement (Eurogamer.net)

Yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster for those of us looking forward to Starfield, wasn't it? Finally, a release date…

In the inventory screen, when choosing a helmet there's a toggle to hide the helmet in breathable areas. First off, in the bottom left of the screen we can see the compass. As for the area Tim Lamb was exploring, the name of the area has to be short, and the ground looks quite red... Lamb also sneakily changes from first to third person so we can see how that looks. Throughout the video, we got brief glimpses at other developers playing and testing Starfield, so you can bet we got our magnifying glasses out to see what details we could spot. Cassiopeia and Tau Ceti are real systems out there in space, while the others could either be completely made up or based on real systems too but

Starfield Can't Just Be Another Fallout Or Skyrim (TheGamer)

Starfield finally has a release date. Bethesda's long awaited open world (open galaxy?) RPG is set to launch on September 6, with magical gamer wizard Todd ...

[Fallout 4](https://www.thegamer.com/tag/fallout-4/) and we’re all growing a little tired of [Skyrim](https://www.thegamer.com/tag/skyrim/) ports on new platforms. By making them far more intimate and less representative of a past Bethesda has continuously failed to leave behind, Starfield could set a new benchmark for not just the studio, but all Western RPGs. Wherever or however Starfield begins, I want the first time we leave the atmosphere to be a scene that opens up a daunting pit in our stomach. I don’t want every single major NPC to view me as the saviour of all things and a being so powerful that everyone folds at the mere sight of me. [Bethesda](https://www.thegamer.com/tag/bethesda/)’s long awaited open world (open galaxy?) RPG is set to launch on September 6, with magical gamer wizard Todd Howard confirming in a new trailer that the company is almost ready to unleash its latest project onto the masses. Even so, a blockbuster with such scale unafraid to focus on the more granular elements of operatic space adventures is so exciting.

'Starfield' Release Gets Pushed Back Again As Bethesda ... (Bounding Into Comics)

Bethesda have announced the release date for Starfield, delaying it past their release window of the first half of 2023.

XFire also reported on claims of Bethesda’s co-op shooter Redfall [being delayed to May 2023](https://www.xfire.com/redfall-will-release-in-may-according-to-latest-leak/). “Look, we know you’ve waited a long time to play something new from us, believe it or not, we’re kind of the same. The teams at Arkane Studio (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.” “Old-school fans, you may remember him from the Oblivion Making-Of video where he’s sitting on a similar sofa doing similar things.” [XFire reported](https://www.xfire.com/starfield-has-been-delayed-yet-again/) in January of this year that Starfield would be delayed to around Summer 2023 citing claims from YouTuber MrMattyPlays speaking on the [Defining Duke podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6Y0p_1m-ow&t=7073s). That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating,” Bethesda added.

Bethesda Shouldn't Pull a Starfield For The Elder Scrolls 6 (Game Rant)

Bethesda finally provides fans with a concrete release date for Starfield, but the way it did doesn't inspire hope for future releases.

[Starfield's release date announcement video](https://gamerant.com/starfield-announcement-video-gameplay-background/) has an air of confidence that is comforting to see, but Bethesda should steer clear of a Cyberpunk 2077-esque series of delays that may result in a less-than stellar game brought down further by pre-release hype. Starfield is already shaping up to be one of if not the biggest release of the year, and the return of The Elder Scrolls franchise will likely be even bigger. Starfield was originally meant to follow suit, having a release date set for November 11, 2022, perhaps to stick by a tradition that usually lead to the success of major releases. [Starfield's release date is close to Marvel's Spider-Man 2](https://gamerant.com/starfield-new-september-2023-release-date-spider-man-2-competition/), which establishes serious competition that could result in possible losses for Starfield. Starfield is one of the most hyped games of the year, which is only natural when it comes to Bethesda's open-world sandbox releases. While many are happy to know when the game comes out this September, the strategy used to market Starfield hasn't been conducive to building much hype thus far, which hopefully Bethesda learns from when it starts preparing for future releases such as The Elder Scrolls 6.
