Ohio State basketball keeps season alive with win vs. Iowa (Scarlet and Game)

The Ohio State basketball team needed a win vs. Iowa to keep their season alive. They were able to do that, winning the game by four.

He finished with just 7 points, but they were all late in the game when the Buckeyes were trying to close this game out. The Buckeyes have needed someone to step up with the ball in their hands, and he has. The freshmen were who sealed this game for the Buckeyes. MSU is a tough matchup for Ohio State, but we’ll see if they can win this one. In the end, the 13th seed was able to win. He had 17 points on 8/13 shooting to go along with 6 assists.

Ohio State's men's basketball vs. Iowa: Game preview and prediction (Land-Grant Holy Land)

The Buckeyes live for another day and now have a matchup against Iowa.

If they fall behind as they did in the loss, Iowa can get out and run the Buckeyes off the court. This game will be an opportunity for the Buckeyes to keep building momentum, and if they win against Iowa this afternoon, the Buckeyes have a stretch of games against teams they have been competitive against this year. That will not cut it as the Buckeyes continue to advance in the For the Hawkeyes, the game starts in the front court. Against Wisconsin, the Buckeyes lost that battle, and it was a major factor in the Badgers being able to close the gap in the second half. that puts an incredibly pivotal emphasis on a stat category the Buckeyes have been inconsistent at best. In the win against Iowa earlier in the year, Thornton has zero points, and he scored 11 in the loss. If the Buckeyes want to continue their season, they will need to create the same magic they had in their previous win over the Hawkeyes. That means the Buckeyes will need to bring their A-game on both sides of the ball. Ohio State will likely not come out shooting 70 percent from the floor, but they understand the intensity of how the game against Wisconsin ended. That is not a fair expectation, but if they can combine an efficient Sensabaugh performance with secret weapon Sean McNeil playing his best basketball, there is no reason the Buckeyes can’t find enough offense to win the game. Both teams need a win here, but the Buckeyes are playing for their season to an even greater extent than the Hawkeyes because a loss means the Buckeyes are done.

Iowa men's basketball falls in Big Ten Tournament opener, now ... (Hawk Central)

Iowa men's basketball exited the Big Ten tournament early with a Thursday loss to Ohio State. Up next: NCAA seeding on Selection Sunday.

I did say I thought we should have jumped on the (loose) ball at the end and call timeout...they fought and I thought was really positive. The Buckeyes responded with a 3-pointer to extend their lead to 67-63 with 1:54 on the clock. A bitter end to the regular season is followed by a sour loss in the first conference tournament game. "I'm not going to go in (the locker room) and go around the room and talk about what you didn't do, what you didn't do. Two clutch plays by Rebraca (two made free throws) and Murray (a driving layup) brought Iowa to within a 69-67 deficit with less than a minute to play. That was the final swing play that gave the Buckeyes the momentum. A driving layup cut the deficit to 64-63 with three minutes to play. Perkins led a strong defensive effort, including two blocks and two steals, that kept Iowa close during a three-minute streak from 8:21 to 4:43 when the Hawkeyes didn't record a basket. Iowa's 29 points in the first half was one of the lowest marks of the season. And the spark plug was Perkins, who led the team with 11 second half points. With the loss, Iowa falls to 19-13 and will wait for its NCAA Tournament seeding on Sunday. "I felt like we did well preparing and doing in practice what the coaches wanted," Rebraca said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State basketball will continue its Big Ten Tournament run with a matchup against Iowa in the second round.

[DraftKings Ohio Sportsbook](https://www.cleveland.com/betting/ohio/draftkings/), in-state bettors are now able to bet. Mainly because it looks like the freshman are starting to slowly figure it out while having nothing to lose. I’m going to pick the Buckeyes again. The Buckeyes have tapped into something at the end of this season that may make them a candidate to randomly make a run in the Big Ten Tournament given that they’ve won three of their last four games while relying on the youth. Tony Perkins, guard, 12.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.9 apg. Ahron Ulis, guard, 6.4 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 2.2 apg. Connor McCaffery, guard, 6.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.8 apg. Justice Sueing, guard, 12.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.9 apg. Ohio State Upsets Iowa to Earn a Spot in the Big Ten Tournament ... (Eleven Warriors)

After holding on late to beat Wisconsin in their first-round Big Ten Tournament matchup Wednesday, the 13th-seeded Buckeyes pulled off a second-round upset ...

But the Hawkeyes returned the favor with a 92-75 win against the Buckeyes in Iowa City on Feb. - Ohio State blew Iowa out by 16 points in the first matchup this season, a 93-77 Buckeye victory at the Schottenstein Center on Jan. Iowa ramped up the pressure on Ohio State right away to open up the second half, employing a fullcourt press that gave the Buckeyes trouble out of the gates. The Spartans won both of their previous meetings with Ohio State in 2022-23, including the regular-season finale this past Saturday. Then Iowa knocked down a pair of free throws at the other end to cut the Buckeye advantage to just two points. Gayle scored seven out of nine points for the Buckeyes in a little over two-and-a-half minutes, and each of his shots was huge for OSU. Gayle hit two clutch free throws with 33.4 seconds left, but the Buckeyes still weren’t out of danger. Gayle knocked down a pair of free throws with 33.4 seconds to go, keeping the Buckeyes up four, but Iowa answered at the foul line on the next possession. But in both cases, Iowa responded with two-point possessions to stay one step ahead of the Buckeyes. After that, both sides went back and forth, answering each other shot-for-shot as the lead changed repeatedly in a razor-close ballgame. After holding on late to beat Wisconsin in their first-round Big Ten Tournament matchup Wednesday, the 13th-seeded Buckeyes pulled off a second-round upset over fifth-seed Iowa Thursday to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. Scoring leader Kris Murray shot 1-for-6 from the 3-point line, and even though the Hawkeyes hit 50% of their shots overall, they didn’t attempt a free throw in the first 20 minutes.

Wisconsin men's basketball: Three quick takeaways vs Ohio State (Bucky's 5th Quarter)

The Wisconsin Badgers suffered a 65-57 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes at the United Center in Chicago, eliminating themselves from the Big 10 tournament, ...

There are several factors why the Badgers lost this game. The Badgers did return the physicality in the second half, but, as seen on several occasions this year, it was too late to secure the victory. The shooting was a one-sided battle, as the Buckeyes hit an astounding 46.2% from three, while the Badgers hit just 4/22 from distance. Wisconsin had a forgettable first half, scoring just 18 points in the first half, as opposed to Ohio State’s 36, while shooting 7/23 from the field, including six turnovers. With the emphasis on the bigs, shooting was likely to be a big factor between these two teams, and both had shot fairly well from three on the season.
