Georgia defender Nolan Smith surprised some when he told reporters he would be working out this year's NFL combine. He suffered a torn pectoral in Geo.

In addition to being an exceptional athlete, Smith was an instrumental leader for the Bulldogs. Beal clocked in at 4.53 in his 40-yard dash attempt. Smith is one of 12 Bulldogs at the NFL combine this week. Smith measured in at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds. It’s little things like that that make a difference in a team.” But there was Smith on Thursday, taking part in on-field drills at the NFL combine. I turned off the mock drafts, I turned off my phone, and I picked up a book. “NFL teams will value someone who can impact their team when they’re not playing,” Smart said in January. Jalen Carter, who returned to Indianapolis this morning, came in at 6-foot-3 and 314 pounds. He suffered a torn pectoral in Georgia’s win over Florida at the end of October. Teammate Robert Beal checked in at 6-foot-4, 247 pounds. He also posted a 41.5-inch vertical jump and 10′8 broad jump.

NFL mock draft: 3 teams Georgia's Nolan Smith could star for on the ... (FanSided)

Georgia EDGE Nolan Smith wowed at the NFL Combine on Thursday and we look at NFL mock draft fits for the Bulldogs pass-rusher.

Nolan Smith is far more developed as a player than Highsmith but still fits that all-potential type of mold overall. There are several in the 2023 NFL Draft class but, after Thursday’s workouts at the [NFL Combine](https://fansided.com/2023/02/17/nfl-combine-schedule-events-stream-watch-free/) in Indianapolis, everyone has edge rusher Nolan Smith on the brain. Highsmith was exceptionally raw coming out of college but the athletic traits were there and we’ve seen Mike Tomlin and the Steelers coaching staff mold him into a highly effective player. Watt obviously fits that bill but we’ve also seen it with the emergence of Alex Highsmith over the past couple of seasons. Smith is a complete monster athletically and his potential is going to make him a possible first-round pick. Smith went out, despite still recovering from a torn pectoral muscle suffered midway through Georgia’s season, and just tore up the athletic testing.

Ravens: Why Nolan Smith is perfect fit for roster in NFL Draft (ClutchPoints)

Following an elite showing at the NFL combine, Georgia's Nolan Smith has risen up draft boards. The Ravens could be the perfect landing spot.

By playing alongside Roquan Smith, Nolan Smith would have a mentor who plays the game in a similar manner to that of his own. With soon-to-be second-year defensive back Kyle Hamilton quickly developing into a star, this young core would be headed in the right direction. But with both Pierre-Paul and Campbell reaching the end of their careers, Smith could step directly into their role. He is able to attack the offensive line both off the edge, and upfront, often winning with ease. But there is one team that could very well be the perfect fit for the former Georgia star: The By adding Smith, the Ravens would gain their next great defensive star.

It’s another box that’s checked by the prospect, either from a height-weight perspective or in terms of athleticism. All great news for Smith, who made himself some money in Indianapolis this week.
