Serge Ibaka, Stanley Johnson and Juancho Hernangomez are some of the big men available for a team that currently is starting Alex Caruso at power forward. Dragić and Andre Drummond represented the Bulls' two moves in free agency last offseason. The decision to part ways with the veteran guard was a mutual one, sources said, and has been discussed at least from Dragić's side since the Bulls signed Patrick Beverley in the buyout market. The pickings are slim at this point of the buyout market, though, and there are currently no plans for an addition. The move creates a roster spot for the Bulls, who sit roughly $1.2 million under the luxury tax.

Enhanced Box Score: Raptors 104, Bulls 98 – February 28, 2023 (bleachernation.com)

Tonight looked exactly like a game between two teams fighting to make the Play-In Tournament … and I don't mean that as a compliment.

The ‘Beverley Bump’ that we saw over those first two games was nice, but this looked far more like the same old Bulls that have failed to take advantage of opportunities all season long. A win tonight could have moved the team just a half-game out from re-entering the Play-in Tournament. Thanks to those OREBS and points off TOVs, however, the Raptors were able to shoot 23 more field goal attempts than the Bulls. It led to a slogfest of a first half, where no team was able to muster more than 24 points in either of the first two quarters. The only times that the Bulls were able to string together some points came in transition. Not only did help push the pace in transition, but he had a couple of decisive short mid-range pull-ups.

Bulls: The player Chicago must sign after waiving Goran Dragic (ClutchPoints)

Here is the player whom the Chicago Bulls must absolutely try to sign after they just waived guard Goran Dragic.

The Bulls could sign Wall to a minimum contract, which would pose no long-term risk. The Bulls have been struggling due to the absence of their starting point guard, Lonzo Ball. Although there are players available such as Serge Ibaka, Stanley Johnson, and Juancho Hernangomez, the Bulls would have limited use for a 15th man due to their focus on playing Patrick Williams significant minutes off the bench at power forward. Of course, the team currently lacks big men, with Alex Caruso currently playing as a power forward. Their decision to waive Dragic was to give him an opportunity to join another team and become eligible for the playoffs. The Chicago Bulls hope to gain on a team that is ahead of them in the playoff race when they visit the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night.

Pascal Siakam led the Raptors with 25 points on Sunday. After the game against Chicago, they play two consecutive road games against the Wizards on Thursday and Saturday. "They got us back on our heels on everything: transition, guarding the ball screen and rolling (to the rim). "Doing the right thing, making each game count, playing the right way and playing for each other," said Zach LaVine, who scored 27 points Sunday. "We're just doing everything the right way. No moral victory awaits Bulls if they make play-in tournament (Chicago Sun-Times)

The NBA doesn't even consider it playoffs, and the Bulls shouldn't view qualifying as an accomplishment.

Ball’s injury and the team’s ineffective overall play have left the Bulls in a place where they’ll have to scramble to make the play-in. If the Bulls were to lose in the play-in tournament, it would be like it didn’t even happen for everyone outside of Chicago. At the trade deadline, the Bulls stood pat, and Karnisovas offered up that the organization would use the remaining games as an evaluation period. The flaws of this team go far beyond them missing Ball. The play-in tournament is the NBA’s version of limbo. According to the league, though, play-in and playoffs are not the same. My fear is that a play-in appearance equals confirmation bias for Karnisovas. A .500 finish should be the floor for this team, not a goal. The front office is struggling to articulate success, as well. Before the season, Bulls boss Arturas Karnisovas said his expectations centered on having a better fate in the playoffs than last season. While a lot was made about Beverley’s personality, not enough was made about how he can help the Bulls from a strategic standpoint. Seeing the Bulls still struggling below .500 at this point is disheartening.

The goal is to get to the playoffs and compete. So after some unsteady possessions to start the game in which the Raptors were dropping off Caruso and Beverley, LaVine went back to bringing the ball up to try to spread out the defense. Still, the Bulls were in position leading 72-70 to start the fourth quarter. Toronto also came out to start the game with 6-9 Pascal Siakam posting up Caruso for a 13-6 Raptors start and then, of course, the jumble of late fourth quarter offensive rebounds when the Bulls went back to their starters. “The goal is not to get to the playoffs. “At some point we’re going to have to look at the matchup piece of it. He wasn’t alone, but the hesitancy of others to shoot as well made the shots by LaVine, DeRozan and Vučević much more difficult. The main reason DeRozan and LaVine Tuesday didn’t attempt more shots was because Caruso and Beverley, particularly Beverley, were reluctant to shoot. Washington remains a game and a half ahead of the Bulls with 20 games left and the Indiana Pacers a half game behind. League-wide scoring average is the highest in decades and within four points per game of the all-time high of 118 per game. It looked good with Beverley in his contract buyout coming in and adding the populist energy that helped lead to the two defense-oriented wins last week. Ayo Dosunmu with 10 was the only other Bulls player to score in double figures.

NBA Odds: Bulls vs. Pistons prediction, pick, how to watch – 3/1/2023 (ClutchPoints)

The Chicago Bulls visit the Detroit Pistons as we continue our NBA odds series with a Bulls-Pistons prediction, pick, and how to watch.

That being said, the Pistons still have a chance to cover tonight as home underdogs thanks to the recent play of their young guys. Take the road favorites despite them coming off a back to back. In two games since the All-Star break, Ivey averaged 17.5 PPG and 7.0 APG – flashing his emmense potential. Coming off a 23-point performance in which he hit 4/6 threes against the Raptors, except Vucevic to play a huge role tonight against an inexperienced Pistons front line. Offensively the Bulls are a non-factor from beyond the arc but they are efficient overall. Speaking of former top-five picks, center James Wiseman is coming off one of his best games as a pro. Chicago lacks stoppers on the perimeter – setting Ivey up for another strong night. The Bulls covered 50% of their games while 60% went under the projected point total. Chicago is led by the combo of DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. The Pistons covered 46% of their games while 53% went over. Outside of their wings, the Bulls put a ton of responsibility in big man Nikola Vucevic. [Chicago Bulls](/nba/chicago-bulls) (28-34) visit the [Detroit Pistons](/nba/detroit-pistons) (15-47) on Wednesday night!
