Bruins are first team in NHL history to achieve this impressive feat (NBC Sports Boston)

History was made in Monday night's game between the Bruins and Oilers at Rogers Place, and we're not talking about Connor McDavid joining the 50-goal club.

The Kraken became the 32nd team when they debuted in 2021-22. But the Bruins rarely play down to their competition. As a result, the Bruins are the first team in league history to beat 31 different opponents in a single regular season.

But even with few shifts starting in favorable ice, the Bruins still posted a 12-6 advantage in scoring chances whenever Orlov was out skating. Even though Orlov was on the ice for McDavid’s first goal just 2:17 after puck drop, there wasn’t much that the 31-year-old blueliner could have done.

The Boston Bruins have a very good problem on their hands. There simply aren't enough roster spots for all of their defensemen.

Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm and Orlov each have a spot on the first, second and third pair of the Bruins lineup. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see McAvoy, Lindholm or Orlov get a night or two off before the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. That move added yet another defenseman to their lineup that is capable of serving on a top pair and essentially left three spots left four players to battle for on Boston’s d-corps.

NHL Odds: Bruins vs. Flames prediction, pick, how to watch – 2/28 ... (ClutchPoints)

The Bruins take on the Flames on the road. It's time to continue our NHL odds series with a Bruins-Flames prediction and pick.

In fact, the Flames are second in the NHL with a 5-on-5 56.9 CF%. Still taking the Bruins to win by at least two goals here. The Bruins, on the other hand, are ninth in the NHL with a 23.3 percent success rate on the man advantage. During that stretch, the Flames managed to go just 1-1-1, with their lone win coming against the lowly Arizona Coyotes (6-3) before a heartbreaking overtime 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights in Sin City. There’s no assurance that Jacob Markstrom can be with the Flames this Tuesday after missing practice Monday to be with his partner who gave birth to their first child, but if he can go this Tuesday, look out. Calgary is looking to get back up after a 4-1 road loss to the Colorado Avalanche last Saturday to end a three-game road trip. In his most recent start, Ullmark allowed just a goal on 26 shots faced in a 3-1 win last Saturday on the road over the Vancouver Canucks. Just like last season, Calgary is a great team in terms of taking control of the puck. After striking out on all five chances on the power play in the win against Edmonton, the Bruins’ special teams can still look forward to having a big night offensively this Tuesday. Apart from that, he also carries a 1.86 GA/G and .938 SV% — both top marks in the league. The Bruins added two more points to their total by whipping the Edmonton Oilers on the road Monday night, 3-2. Will the Bruins keep their win streak alive?

Bruins Wrap: Boston Steals Win From Flames In Classic Comeback (NESN.com)

The Boston Bruins earned yet another win Tuesday, stealing one on the road right out from under the Calgary Flames.

Flames center Blake Coleman was on the board, however, and he was given +380 odds to score. The Bruins will finally head back to Boston to open up a four-game homestand Thursday, starting with a tilt against the Buffalo Sabres. As a team, the Bruins turned the puck over in their own zone and played horrific defense in front of Ullmark for the majority of the night. You can watch the game, plus an hour of pregame coverage, The 31-year-old also assisted on Pavel Zacha’s power-play goal in the third period that tied the game. That was the case Tuesday, when Boston strolled into Calgary for its matchup with the Flames and played horribly.

Talking Points: Ullmark (54 Saves), Bruins Beat Flames 4-3 in OT (Boston Hockey Now)

Linus Ullmark set a Boston Bruins record for saves with 54 and the Bruins pulled out a 4-3 overtime win over the Calgary Flames.

Dmitry Orlov scored his first two goals as a Bruin and Linus Ullmark made a career-high 54 saves.

By the 13:39 mark of the first period, he added two more to that total and stood only one more strike from being the first Bruins defenseman to connect for a hat trick since Zdeno Chara on Jan. Bergeron won a faceoff in the left circle, Jake DeBrusk provided the tap across the slot, and the 5-11/215 Orlov dropped the hammer. Instead, the Bruins entered the third with a 2-1 lead. He said that both Foligno and Taylor Hall (lower-body injury) would not be available for the game against Buffalo. The rock-hard winger was belted along the wall by Nikita Zadorov and was barely able to remain upright and make it across the ice under his own power before disappearing down the runway. From there, Calgary rolled up another 18 shots on Ullmark in the second, and a half-dozen were Grade A chances. The second period had the Bruins at their worst, most lethargic all season. In the previous 59 games, no Bruin defenseman had scored twice in a game. But then came Pavel Zacha’s goal, his second big strike in as many nights, to pull the Bruins even, 3-3, on a rare power-play strike with 5:53 left in regulation. They edged the Flames, first and foremost, because of Linus Ullmark (“The league’s best goalie all season,” per coach Jim Montgomery), who turned away 54 shots, establishing a franchise high in a regular-season game. But we still come back and find a way to win, like we have all year.” CALGARY – The Bruins packed up their bags here Wednesday morning, another dramatic win (No.
