'Can't play everybody': Suns coach Monty Williams addresses T.J. ... (AZCentral.com)

T.J. Warren was part of the Kevin Durant trade before the Feb. 9 deadline that brought him back to Phoenix where he started his NBA career in 2014.

“I feel like I have to have an open mind going forward, but also make sure guys have a rhythm and not do what I did the last couple of games (against the Kings and Clippers)," Williams said. Jock Landale, Ross, Payne and Lee were the other four reserves to see action Sunday. "I tried to play like 18 guys last game (laughs). To play him, you’ve got to bump somebody out and we feel like we have a decent rhythm with D-Lee (Damion Lee) and for the most part, J-O (Josh Okogie) and Torrey (Craig) have been manning that starting spot. Williams admitted before the OKC game of putting Warren in a “tough spot,” by not playing him extended minutes so he could find a rhythm. There may be a shot for him to play, but right now, we feel like we have a decent rhythm with the guys who are playing.”

Inside the Suns: Win/Loss predictions, playoff matchups, the ... (Bright Side of the Sun)

Your weekly Inside the Suns analysis straight from the BSotS community who live and breathe the team.

While they’ve needed their two-way players on the main team a LOT this season, that won’t always be the case and it will be a good place for them to get some real game time. It’s very likely that even their future 1st round picks will be late 1st rounders who could benefit from extra court time in the G League instead of sitting on the far end of the bench most of the season. How important do you believe having a G League affiliate is to the Suns moving forward? If they keep losing ground to Sacramento, we could wind up playing Memphis in a the 1st round as the 4th & 5th seeds or even pass them to get that 3rd seed (if we can also stay ahead of LAC) with a potential Suns/Kings matchup in the 2nd round. That being said, it has value as being able to get minutes for young 2-way players in a similar system gets them more ready when called on and allows focus on development. I do think we actually need to see how the Suns look with KD first so this opinion could change a lot in the next month. While the talent, charisma, and excitement in Memphis are undeniable, I’m not convinced they have the chops to hang with the best-of-the-best come playoff time. As of now, I actually prefer the Denver matchup despite them being a more complete team. However, KD’s return to the court is sure to give the Suns a boost, so let’s go with 13-7. Of course, if the Suns get bitten by the injury bug again that prediction could be way off. Memphis has a lot of size and we don’t matchup as well with them. Each week the Fantable — a round table of Bright Siders — give their takes on the Suns’ latest issues and news.

Josh Okogie's career-best stretch could earn him big spot in Suns ... (Bright Side of the Sun)

The Phoenix Suns need grit, activity and defense, with a little bit of offense, from that 5th starter spot.

Suns head coach Monty Williams might have a big drop-off individual talent from his Big Four to the rest of the rotation, but he’s very deep in playable players. During this 12-5 run by the Suns to pull back into 4th in the West, Okogie is playing the best basketball of his career. My guess is Josh Okogie will end up at the top of that list. It’s also possible that the 24-year old Okogie is still developing, and any advancements in skillset are here to stay. He’d appeared in 19 of the Suns first 23 games, but was averaging only 6.2 minutes per contest until he got 26 minutes in the 38-point blowout of the Spurs that lifted the Suns to a 16-7 record. That’s 17th in the league — ahead of Then the Suns best players began to return. But his offense was so non-existent — damaging even — that he simply couldn’t stay on the floor for a Wolves team that needed all kinds of defensive help to shore up the deficiencies of stars Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell. and the Suns went through a 5-17 stretch as injuries decimated the lineup. As you know, that’s when the Suns season took a terrible turn. The 6’4”, 213 pound Okogie is incredibly athletic and physical, blessed with a 7-foot wingspan and the motor to be one of the best defensive players in the league. The Suns are 33-29, sitting in 4th place in the West after 62 games, despite getting only 79 total minutes over 7 games from their preferred starting lineup all season.
