With signs emerging that AMC may pull an earnings surprise out of its hat when its next earnings report emerges, some are taking AMC stock a lot more seriously than they did only recently. Both points suggest that the theater may not be fading away but rather simply changing. He looks more like a liability to AMC Theatres than an asset at the moment. Disclosure: I/we have no stock, option or similar derivative position in any of the companies mentioned, and no plans to initiate any such positions within the next 72 hours. The company wants to convert APE into AMC shares but could dilute AMC shareholders in the process. I don't expect anything out of the ordinary here since AMC continues to burn through cash. The Fed raised interest rates and took away a lot of buying momentum from retail investors. These companies have enough consumer demand and cashflow to weather almost any storm. I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article. If approved, AMC shareholders will get diluted and a reverse split could reduce AMC burned through $174 million in cash during Q3 2024 despite hitting nearly $1 billion in quarterly revenue. I wonder if AMC CEO Adam Aron will speak further on this Q4 2022 earnings conference call. Free cash flow hit negative $278 million even though quarterly attendance increased 37.9% to nearly 54 million in the same quarter. Analysts are expecting quarterly revenue of $1.05 billion and earnings loss of 22 cents per share.
That's after a group of shareholders accused the chain of circumventing them with a plan that will convert preferred shares to common shares.
