We may be about to find out. He also pulled down five rebnounds and dished out four dimes. Nikola Vucevic and Drummond each finished with 13-point, 10-rebound double-doubles (although Drummond logged his in just 14 minutes). The final margin was 131-87 Chicago, and frankly it didn’t always even feel that close. He even looked to score in the paint! The Bulls led the Nets 97-51 (!) after three, effectively rendering the contest’s fourth quarter garbage time. The 29 points allowed by Chicago represents the least points the team has permitted in a first half since the Joakim Noah DPOY 2013-14 season, per Will Gottlieb of CHGO Sports. The new-look Bulls capitalized on Brooklyn’s three-point shooting woes and defensive lapses with aggressive, quick actions. The Bulls’ perimeter defense helped force Here’s his first-ever Bulls bucket, you know, for posterity: DeRozan looked solid in his first contest back for Chicago following a three-game hip injury absence. Billy Donovan trotted out a fresh starting five in an effort to goose the Bulls’ two-way effort and hopefully cap Chicago’s skid at six games.

He knows where the spots are and where he can talk and what he needs to do. “When you’ve got a guy like Pat Beverley on the team, the intensity that he comes (with), the first second he came in the energy he brings, you’ve got to follow that,” said DeRozan. When you see a teammate with that type of mentality, you’ve got to follow behind that and I think you saw that tonight.” I just tried to make the game easy for Zach, make sure he didn’t have to do a ton of dribbling, make sure DeMar caught it in his spots. The group that started the game defensively I thought put in the effort to contest and get out there and challenge shots and make it difficult. And then perhaps a how-do-you-like-us-now surprise with the feisty Caruso and Beverley at the tip of the spear. And the Bulls were enlivened closing out to make those attempts less pristine. But despite a 34-25 record, it’s mostly the skeletal remains of what was supposed to be maybe the last dynasty with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden now of the Brooklyn diaspora. Gold is said to be produced from a collision of stars, and perhaps the Bulls finally have the right formula. But the Bulls face the 10th place Washington Wizards Sunday in the United Center with a chance to move within a half game of Washington. We’ve got to come out with a sense of urgency and have fun with it. The NBA season often is likened to a marathon, and so it seemed going into the All-Star break the Bulls had hit the wall, six straight losses, outside the four-team play-in tournament in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, their energy seemingly depleted.

It’s no coincidence that the Cavaliers made a huge jump since adding Donovan Mitchell. Still, one of their top priorities after the season is moving off of “continuity’’ and more toward a voice that demands accountability.

NBA Odds: Nets vs. Bulls prediction, pick, how to watch - 2/24/2023 (ClutchPoints)

The Brooklyn Nets visit the Chicago Bulls as we continue our NBA odds series with a Nets-Bulls prediction, pick, and how to watch.

Chicago seems to relish in mediocrity as the Bulls opted against blowing the team up in hopes of making a run in the play-in. Additionally, he is having a strong shooting season with 1.7 threes per game and a 36% three-point percentage. The veteran remains an efficient scorer despite a lack of outside shooting as he shoots 51% from the floor. Johnson is a deadeye from beyond the arc as he averaged 2.6 threes per game while shooting 46% from deep on the Suns. He’s continued that hot shooting as a member of the Nets, averaging 2.3 threes per game in his three appearances. DeMar is especially skilled at getting to the line as he averages 7.5 free throw attempts per game. The stretch-five is having a standard Vucevic season, averaging 17.9 PPG and 11.5 RPG. Bridges was strong on the Suns prior to the trade where he averages a career-high 17.2 PPG and 1.8 threes per game. The Nets covered 53% of their games while 53% went under the projected point total. That was their calling card prior to blowing things up as they allow the ninth-fewest points per game. Since those trades, the Nets went 3-4 although they did pick up a win over the Bulls. To be sure, there were *a lot* of bricks shot by this Nets team, but the Bulls also played on a string all night long. While I wasn’t a huge fan of Patrick Williams being moved to the bench (I’ll need a few games to fully decide what I think), there is no question that this lineup change brought out a sense of legitimate urgency.
