Dionne Warwick and Dolly Parton on Meeting Each Other for the ... (Entertainment Tonight)

The legendary singers' duet, 'Peace Like a River,' drops Friday.

"Not just get out there and just doing it 'cause we can, but it's gonna be like we're in church." And I just remember thinking, I just need to feel peace. I just need to flow like a river. I just need to go. And, just like Warwick, Parton grew up singing in church. Just like Warwick, the Queen of Nashville also grew up in a gospel family. It's that simple." "But I knew that I would love her because I just felt that voice. ET was on the set of Parton's soundstage in Nashville, where Warwick and Parton were filming the music video -- produced and co-directed by Warwick's son, Damon Elliott -- for their duet, "Peace Like a River." "When I met her though, honestly, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed because like she said, we've talked, you know, FaceTime or whatever, they have all that technology stuff we did," Parton added. "We had spent time on the phone. I said, 'I don't know her, except through her music and I love her music,'" Parton said.

Dionne Warwick and her producer/son discuss Dolly Parton duet (The Tennessean)

The 82-year-old legend and her award-winning producer son Damon Elliott, discuss working with the Country Music Hall of Famer on new gospel ballad.

"Mom has left people with a legendary mark of who she is upon the world. Her words cut at the core of so much of what is right and wrong with the socio-cultural lines re-forming and dissolving between the genres. "I don't know how to put music in boxes," she says. "We stood face-to-face and did what we had to do," Warwick says. "Just like all of my other songs, we were interpreting, then relaying, a thought as a message for people to hear. "Being the 'Twitter Queen' is the most amazing, fun and surprising thing in the world," she says. People who put music in boxes always forget this." 24 release of the single "Peace Like a River" is a legacy-celebrating moment, add in Warwick's son Damon Elliott on production — himself a Grammy-winning and Academy Award-nominated producer — and the song's potential becomes apparent. It will resonate with the world and amaze people. "I hadn't heard Dolly record a song like this — in my mind — since 'I Will Always Love You,'" says Elliott. Then when my cousin, Whitney [Houston] re-recorded [Parton's 1974 classic] 'I Will Always Love You,' she indeed became a part of my life." "Had [my son] not honed his craft, he wouldn't be working with me.

Parton and Warwick recorded their vocals for the single separately then met at Parton’s production facility outside Nashville to film the video.
