Woods is an excellent blocker, but would he entice the 49ers enough to offer him a contract during free agency?
Woods is a fantastic player, and he undoubtedly improves any team that me might join. Woods had a 16 million dollar cap hit this past season and at just 30 years old, it’s reasonable to expect he will get a sizeable pay day on the open market from whatever team ends up signing him. While Woods was in the NFC West, he posted per season averages of 74 receptions, 925 yards, and 5 touchdowns, playing a major role on a Rams' offense that was dynamic during much of that stretch.
Robert Woods isn't what he once was, but the former Tennessee Titans receiver could be an intriguing option for the New England Patriots.
[what the future holds](https://nesn.com/2023/01/kendrick-bourne-wont-ask-for-patriots-trade-despite-rough-year/) for Kendrick Bourne, who spent most of the 2022 season in the doghouse and saw his name in trade rumors. He posted 90 receptions for 936 yards the next season but suffered a torn ACL in November of 2021, roughly four months before he was traded to Tennessee. He’s a savvy veteran receiver who’s capable of lining up in multiple positions. He also is relatively surehanded, posting a career drop percentage of 5.8%. Woods certainly wouldn’t fill the potential void created by a Meyers departure, but he could serve as an attractive low-risk/high-reward replacement for Agholor. He’ll turn 31 years old on April 10 but clearly still has something left in the tank.
On Wednesday morning, the Tennessee Titans released veteran wide receiver Robert Woods. The move created $12 million in cap space for first-year general.
For context, [Justin Jefferson](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JeffJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=zonecoverage.com&utm_campaign=2023-02-23_pfr) commanded a 28.7% target share en route to leading the NFL in receiving in 2022. If the Vikings are interested in entering the Bobby Trees sweepstakes, it will assuredly come with having to part ways with a player or two who occupies a sizeable cap hit in 2023. [Adam Thielen](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/ThieAd00.htm?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=zonecoverage.com&utm_campaign=2023-02-23_pfr)‘s status, Woods makes for an intriguing option as their potential WR2 for 2023.
