Clippers vs. Warriors Game Preview • 213hoops.com (213 Hoops)

The Clippers will have some new faces on the roster in the second-to-last game before the All Star Break against the division rival Warrior. Game.

That game is going to be tough regardless and it’s imperative that the Clippers grab one here against what will be a short-handed Golden State Warriors team. They’ve been inconsistent, they can’t seem to win on the road and they’ve hovered around play-in positioning. He’s a talented player no doubt, but there’s no question that he has a lot of growing up to do and the Clippers top 8-9 players seem to be set with Robert Covington playing spot minutes. This is a very welcome sign for Clippers fans, and very important as they get set to head into the All-Star break this weekend. It wouldn’t be surprising if Gordon eventually moves into the starting lineup with Terance Mann moving back to a reserve role. It’s been a long time coming, but for the first time in what seems like forever, the Clippers have no injuries to report.

Game Preview: Warriors at Clippers - 2/14/23 (Warriors.com)

The Warriors (29-28) visit the Los Angeles Clippers (31-28) in their final game before the All-Star break.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have a reputation as one of the league's best two-way duos, particularly on the wing. Leonard and George have shared the court in 106 of 305 possible games over four seasons, but they do have a 76-30 record when both stars play. The Clippers score 111 points per game and allow 111 points per game. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are one of three prominent duos that joined forces in the 2019 offseason. The Warriors survived a hot start from the Wizards and took control of the game in the second and third quarters, outscoring Washington 78-54 over that stretch. This will be the Dubs’ second of four head-to-head meetings with the Clippers this season, and the Warriors picked up a Oklahoma City and he’ll be coming off a 27-point game that saw him make six of his eight shot attempts inside the 3-point line, including perhaps his best dunk of the season. Hyland is a shot-creating guard who the Warriors met in the first round of the 2022 playoffs as a member of the Denver Nuggets. But that could change on Tuesday, with the Warriors making the short trip to Los Angeles in what will be the team’s final game before the All-Star break. The Clippers acquired Bones Hyland, Eric Gordon and Mason Plumlee at the trade deadline. “I spent so many great moments in that building (Crypto.com Arena) with my dad, and my brothers, and my mother, so I’m just excited to get down there and play in front of them. There will be eight full days between Tuesday’s game and the next Warriors’ matchup, which will be another trip to L.A., this time facing the Lakers on Feb.

Kawhi Leonard ties career-high as Clippers hold off Warriors (Los Angeles Times)

Kawhi Leonard scored 33 points, Norman Powell added 24, and the Clippers held off the Golden State Warriors 134-124 on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena.

“It’s going to come down to a best-of-seven for every team in the West. On the other side of that evaluation period could be the answer for whether the Clippers feel they need to fill their last open roster spot with a traditional point guard. The Clippers finished with 33 assists to only eight turnovers, their fifth game with single-digit turnovers in their last seven. Yet while Lue is typically patient with making lineup changes, preferring to let lineup combinations play out over sample sizes of about 10 games, the coach acknowledged he doesn’t have that kind of time anymore. A drive by Hyland finished with an assist under the basket to Plumlee. Hyland’s speed, which caused Batum to take notice during their first practice Monday, was the obvious selling point of his trade.

Though you’d imagine he acknowledges his role as a star on the team and appreciates that he will have to step up his efforts as the team gets closer to crunch time this year, he is only human and knows that he will go through some rough moments on the court. John Wall’s pickup was less tainted by sentiment, though you could argue it had a direct correlation on Isaiah Hartenstein being let go, but it was no less unsuccessful because he couldn’t be trusted to be on the floor when things got tight — the weaknesses were too glaring, despite some of the strengths he brought. However, it would be helpful if there was at least some acknowledgement from George and even Tyronn Lue that we have already struck out on two occasions when recruiting former All-Star point guards to come and take up a more traditional role. As Head of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank alluded to, he has too many weaknesses in his game in the present day to be a key contributor (or a contributor at all) during such crucial moments for the Clippers. and Nicolas Batum have either been asked about the possibility of him being added to the roster or — in PG’s case — just brought it up off their own backs. Paul George is fromPalmdale, a city just north of Los Angeles, and grew up apparently liking both the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers.

Instead, he chose to join forces with Kawhi Leonard in 2019 with the Clippers, a duo that was supposed to make the organization often considered the other franchise in Los Angeles a true contender. The Clippers' title hopes rest squarely on the shoulders of Leonard and George, however. There's little doubt how much it would mean to George. Should Russell Westbrook secure a buyout from the Utah Jazz after the three-team trade is complete, the Los Angeles Clippers are said to have interest in the star guard, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport. "A championship with the Clippers 100 percent will outweigh a championship being with the Lakers," he told But for George, bringing a title to the Clippers' organization would mean much more than ever doing it for the Lakers.

Paul George on the Clippers' NBA Title Hopes: 'Our Chances Are as ... (Complex)

We sat down with All-Star Paul George to discuss the recent turnover in the NBA and how he feels his squad ranks amongst the best in the Western Conference.

Of course, it wasn’t the biggest trade of that summer, but for me, it was someone I was the closest with and the tightest with on the team, and it was a person that kept me motivated. But it reverts back to knowing the business and knowing what we signed up for; it’s part of the game. He was a real brother; I spent a lot of time in my career with him, and I woke up to [news] of him being traded, literally. How do you navigate everything shifting and changing at the drop of a dime; especially losing teammates you’ve had strong relationships with; does it ever get any easier, or is it just one of those tough things about the league? Attacking it one day at a time, and ultimately I got back to where I wanted to get to it. Untimely injuries and tough stretches of play at the wrong time have been the biggest thorn in the side of the Clips but they hope to change that this year. How have you been able to stay afloat and stay level-headed during those times when you’ve had to battle injuries? Despite battling injuries that have kept him out of the lineup at times this season, his play has been his usual perennial All-Star form, averaging over 23 points, over five assists, and six rebounds, all while adding point guard duties to his list of responsibilities. It was an easy flow with myself and AT&T. It’s kind of crazy you’re in year 13 now. In a matter of days, the Western Conference found itself becoming a gauntlet once again. The biggest reason for that hope is the aforementioned Paul George.

Gordon was the final member of the new trio to make his debut, and he may have had the most understated performance considering his impact. He finished with a +6, including five rebounds – two of which came on the offensive glass – three assists and he even grabbed himself a steal.
