Paul McCartney Said Queen Elizabeth II Had a Witty Remark for The ... (Showbiz Cheat Sheet)

Paul McCartney will never forget the witty remark Queen Elizabeth II said to The Beatles during a line-up in the 1960s.

Paul had another joke for Queen Elizabeth the next time they met in the new millennium at her Golden Jubilee. In The Lyrics, Paul wrote that she always asked him about the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. The pair met again in 1996 when the queen opened the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. [felt like Harry Potter](https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/paul-mccartney-said-felt-like-harry-potter-queen-elizabeth-ii-knighted.html/) when the queen bestowed him with the award. On Facebook, Paul said he met Queen Elizabeth II about eight or nine times. In The Lyrics, Paul wrote that when she stopped in front of The Beatles, she said, “Where are you playing next?” Paul said, “Slough, ma’am.” The queen had a witty remark. The Beatles performed for Queen Elizabeth, the queen mother, and Princess Margaret. The official told them how to approach the monarch and said they had to wait until she stopped to speak to her. Paul wrote, “She made a little joke like that. The “Maybe I’m Amazed” singer looked up to the queen since he was a boy. “She was a good-looking woman, like a Hollywood film star.” Later, during several of their various meetings, Paul gave her some of his jokes in return.

Stan Lee Loved a Classic Paul McCartney Song About a Future ... (CBR)

Few 1970s rock bands were thinking about Marvel, but Paul McCartney and Wings were an exception to the rule - much to Stan Lee's pleasure.

3 cares to use a snatch of Rocket's namesake song on the soundtrack -- the time could certainly be right to honor this wonderful little tribute. There aren't many rock and roll tracks that directly talk about Marvel Comics, especially not from the classic era, and since the McCartney-Marvel connection has yet to be name-checked in the MCU -- unless Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. All of this approval from the Marvel higher-ups begs the question: Why hasn't this song appeared in a Marvel film yet? But with all its classic 1970s rock, it's surprising that the franchise has yet to use Paul McCartney and Wings' "Magneto and the Titanium Man," a 1970s rock song actually about Marvel Comics -- and one that Stan the Man himself enjoyed. Given that Wings was often fighting against an unreceptive public that wanted them to stick to Beatles tunes, it was a rather bold move at the time to make a song about a supposedly "uncool" concept like comic book characters part of a rock show. In 1975, while in LA for the Wings Over America tour, the McCartneys met Jack Kirby, who presented them with a line drawing he'd done of them in honor of the song.

A Paul McCartney Contract Proved He Thought a Beatles Reunion ... (Showbiz Cheat Sheet)

One Paul McCartney recording contract proved he thought a Beatles reunion might happen, and it doesn't seem like he was doing it for show.

The drummer’s 1973 solo record was the first time since the breakup that all of The Beatles played on the same album. Paul and John were the creating driving forces in The Beatles from the start. Paul, Ringo, and George gathered to collaborate on The Beatles Anthology series. Even if a Beatles reunion wasn’t just around the corner, Paul clearly thought a Fab Four comeback could happen someday. Legal red tape (Ringo, George, and John would have required similar clauses in their contracts) would likely have derailed a Beatles comeback. [wistful return to the basics](https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/paul-mccartney-made-the-beatles-get-back-wistful-wanted-band-return-roots-instead-splitting.html/) of the early years. Outside of the studio, Paul stood in a minority of one when The Beatles finally sought to hire a new manager in 1969. That was in 1974, and a Beatles’ comeback seemed as distant as ever. It was a social cue that the Beatles had drifted apart. Columbia likely could have inked Paul based on the financials alone. [The Beatles](https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/the-beatles/) broke up seemed to make a reunion impossible. The damaged relationships made getting back together next to impossible.
