It was enough to draw interest around the league, especially with the Raptors struggling earlier in the season, but the asking prices were considered "astronomical" and "far-fetched," per Memphis was clearly seeking another weapon to contend with the increasingly stacked Western Conference, but the organization couldn't agree to a deal. "But Toronto made it clear to these teams, like, 'we want a player, too.' I don't think that sort of player was on the table, at least from their view at least in Memphis."

The Toronto Raptors were offered three first-round picks for OG Anunoby by the Pacers and the Grizzlies at the trade deadline.

In the end, none of the teams that talked to the Raptors offered their young players in return. Perhaps the reason was due to the lack of players that the Raptors actually wanted. The Raptors forward is one of the best defenders in the league.

Anunoby, who was one of the marquee players available on the trade market, might have been the Warriors' missing piece as they look to defend their NBA championship. The arms race in the Western Conference intensified this week with the Dallas Mavericks acquiring Kyrie Irving and the Phoenix Suns reportedly trading for two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant. "They have really been interested in OG Anunoby and trying to see if there's a pathway toward a deal. Anunoby, 25, is averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 45 games this season. Connecting the dots, it would appear the Raptors wanted Kuminga in place of the third pick, and that's where the Warriors drew the line.
