Following a touching introduction from her wife and two daughters, Brandi Carlile took to the stage Sunday (Feb. 5) at the Grammy [Awards](https://www.billboard.com/t/awards/) to perform the roaring “Broken Horses” from her album of the year nominated In These Silent Days. She is also up for the big four category of record of the year, for “You and Me on the Rock” featuring Lucius.

“Here to rock our faces off with ‘Broken Horses,’ from her Grammy-nominated album “In These Silent Days,” my wife and their momma, Brandi Carlisle!” she said, with her kids chiming in to say their mom’s name. She added that it meant “the world” to her to stand there with their “beautiful daughters” to introduce “one of the greatest and most authentic artists and human beings on the planet,” in their “humble opinion.” “Millions of you watching tonight fell in love with the next performer four years ago when she took the Grammys stage for the first time and delivered one of the most iconic performances in Grammy history,” Shepherd said, joking, “I was lucky enough to marry her more than a decade ago, so I was way ahead of you.”
