The collection was more than a robust range of free games to a lot of people though, it was a fundamental introduction to what the platform is capable of. Right now it’s a glorified bonus for players able to spend a few extra pennies each month, and even then the added offerings are far too slim. Sony has already assured us that this notable loss in value will be circumvented by continued commitment to its Premium and Extra tiers of Plus, which currently offer an on-demand selection of games both old and new. A massive shame, since what was once a stellar introduction to the world of PlayStation and its exclusives is now being stripped away. Sony has just announced that the PlayStation Plus Collection will be unavailable from May, giving subscribers just a few months to grab everything.

The worst of the bunch is probably Detroit: Become Human or The Last Guardian, and that's saying something as both of these titles are still worthwhile experiences, especially when they're free. And every PS Plus subscriber on PS5 should make sure they claim every single game in the collection before May 9. Thankfully, although Sony is shutting down the PS Plus Collection on May 9, those who have claimed titles before that date will still be able to play them after the shut-down, as long as they still have an active PS Plus subscription. I personally used the collection to play through Bloodborne, and now I understand why everyone wants a modern remaster of that game. The PlayStation Plus Collection includes some fantastic games, including God of War, The Last of Us Remastered, and Persona 5. If you haven’t claimed the games yet, you’ll have until May 9th to do so.
