NBA Odds: Pelicans vs. Bucks prediction, pick, how to watch - 1/29 ... (ClutchPoints)

The final game of NBA Sunday's four-game schedule will feature the slumping New Orleans Pelicans (26-23) taking on the mighty Milwaukee Bucks (32-17).

Brook Lopez is also making a case for a potential Defensive Player of the Year candidacy, producing 14.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game for the Bucks. Jevon Carter and Joe Ingles also contribute off the bench, so the Bucks should keep steady in these rotations. Until Zion comes back and Ingram becomes his old self, the Pelicans are likely going to struggle. With the way the Bucks play, they should continue on their two-way play and productive bench scoring. Injury issues have been plaguing Mike Budenholzer’s squad this season, with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, Serge Ibaka, and MarJon Beauchamp going in and out of the lineup. They also have seven wins in their last 10 games and 10 wins in their last 15. They now have 32 wins in 49 games played, good for first in the Central Division and third in the Eastern Conference, trailing closely behind the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. CJ McCollum has been the major beneficiary of offensive production for the Pels, posting 21.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game for the season. With Alvarado leading the second unit, Devonte’ Graham, Naji Marshall, Larry Nance Jr., and Willy Hernangomez should also contribute. The Pels enter this ball game with Dyson Daniels, Zion Williamson, and EJ Liddell still out with injuries. Sixth Man of the Year candidate Bobby Portis is currently sidelined for his knee and ankle injury, but Milwaukee is managing okay without him so far. The team is second in the league in steals (8.5) while also grabbing the eighth and ninth spots for rebounds (44.4) and assists (25.9) per game.

It's an eight-game losing streak for New Orleans, but the offense may have found something.

And a date against the Nuggets in Denver is on tap for Tuesday. If Ingram and McCollum can return for that matchup, and there can be some good carryover from the past few games ... Simply put, he looks like he deserves to be a part of the regular rotation. The defense had played consistently well before running into Antetokounmpo and they found some offense from outside of the team’s stars tonight. Naji Marshall didn’t enjoy a great shooting night, but when the Pelicans went on runs, he was often the catalyst. It was good to see Herb Jones, who had 11 points and five rebounds, knock down two of his three 3-point attempts. Jose Alvarado was also assertive in his minutes, dropping a line of 18 points, six assists and two steals. His first two scores flashed his great wheels and then the third make was a nothing-but-net 3-pointer. However, that would be the worst of the blows for the Pelicans. The Suns have given the Bucks permission to speak with their forward. Phoenix also has interest in Toronto Raptors forward O.G. Anunoby.

Crowder through media members has said his issue with the team is not contractual nor related to Phoenix’s push to start forward Cam Johnson in his place. Crowder averaged 9.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game last year and started 111 of 127 games in two seasons with Phoenix. [Lauri Markkanen](/nba/players/2844693/lauri-markkanen/) this season. [Tyrese Haliburton](/nba/players/3041074/tyrese-haliburton/), but it seems for now we can cross him off as a potential trade candidate next month. The [Timberwolves](https://www.cbssports.com/nba/teams/MIN/minnesota-timberwolves/) are said to be interested in the high-energy guard who is averaging 12.3 points and shooting 37 percent from deep. Such is the case this season as well, as Turner recently agreed to a two-year, $60 million extension with the club, and subsequently [told reporters](https://twitter.com/zapearsonNBA/status/1620162272034439169), "I'm here to stay." However, the two sides may look to expand the deal in hopes of the Suns getting a forward back in the trade from another team. Given they have a chance to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020, it's no surprise that the Pacers want to keep Turner at the deadline.

Also, the Hawks apparently turned down a recent offer for John Collins.

But when Utah countered back with asking for a first-round pick Atlanta declined and the talks stalled. Earlier in the season the Hawks asked for [Malik Beasley](/nba/players/2202574/malik-beasley/) and [Jarred Vanderbilt](/nba/players/2892548/jarred-vanderbilt/) in exchange for Collins, per The Athletic. However, the two sides may look to expand the deal in hopes of the Suns getting a forward back in the trade from another team. Crowder would fit it perfectly with Milwaukee's style of play from a defensive standpoint, and would give them a boost in perimeter shooting, as the Bucks rank just 16th in 3-point percentage.

Why Bucks' proposed Jae Crowder trade to Suns makes sense (ClutchPoints)

The Phoenix Suns haven't had the season they were hoping for, and as the trade deadline draws near, it's clear that they will be very busy.

This lengthy trade saga has been dragged out for quite some time, but it finally seems to be reaching a conclusion with a deal that makes everyone happy. Speaking of Crowder, he will be glad to finally get his way back onto the court, and pick up a new deal in the process. Considering how the Suns have granted permission for the Bucks to speak to Crowder, it would seem like a deal is on the verge of being completed. Crowder is a physical defender who is strong enough to hold up on the interior, and quick enough to stick with guys on the perimeter. The Suns will likely just be glad to finally get rid of Crowder, which is their prime motivation for making this deal. Crowder has been a sought after trade target all season long, and it seems like he is finally close to being traded.

NBA insider reveals the Milwaukee Bucks' offer in Jae Crowder ... (Behind The Bucks Pass)

For the longest time, it seemed like Grayson Allen would be the key piece in a Crowder trade, given his $8.5 million salary for this season. However, Charania's ...

The Ringer’s Chris Vernon recently linked Will Barton to the Bucks Allen, while somewhat inconsistent at times, has proven to be a quality fit in the starting five over the last two years. That is certainly a rarity for any target, but perhaps the Bucks want to get a better idea of where exactly Crowder is at in his conditioning and how he would feel about a trade to Milwaukee, given that he has not yet played in a game this season.
