Watch Live NBA: Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks, 5:30 PM EST ... (NetsDaily)

The Nets and Knicks square off on national television as the Knicks close in on the Nets in the standings.

It’s a great sign for Irving, the Nets, and most importantly, Nets fans. It’s a lot to carry on his shoulders, but he’s stepped up to try and fill the void left by KD’s absence. He’s a mesmerizing player when he’s firing on all cylinders, and without Durant, has fought to keep the team competitive and locked in. The Knicks are a really good rebounding team. The Nets are a really bad rebounding team. JB is averaging career highs in points (22.4) and assists (6.3) on a .468/.402/.844 triple slash all while turning it over at a career low rate.

As for a playoff series, it is not quite ready to be discussed since the latest inability to beat the Nets left the Knicks in seventh and 1 1/2 games behind Miami. “I think from a proximity standpoint, you can say that,” Thibodeau said when posed the question of the rivalry in between numerous questions about owner James Dolan’s recent media tour. Only it may not be as simple in the minds of Thibodeau and Jacque Vaughn. "For me, I love beating the Knicks and playing against them, but all in all, it's just about the objective and that's to win the ballgame," Irving said. Two seasons ago, the Nets formed their Big Three of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden and won 48 times during a 72-game season. Nets, stop me if you've heard this one before, beat Knicks again, 122 ... (NetsDaily)

We were here at Barclays and they had a lot of fans and it was definitely a good atmosphere,” before making sure to add “I’ve never lost to the Knicks since I’ve been in the league.” He hasn’t! - Kyrie Irving became the fourth player since 1996 (the first season were quarter-by-quarter stats were tracked) to record four 20-point fourth quarters in a season. But it’s just that Yuta has become reliable from the corners, it’s that he’s become a legit all-around shooting threat that must be accounted for at all times. “So for me, I love beating the Knicks and playing against them. Whether watching the game with my father or his father or watching the game and my father just admiring the guys playing at Madison Square Garden, the Continental Airlines Arena. (Of which Jacque Vaughn said “I wouldn’t mind having 10 more, I said in the huddle ‘let’s get 50 up’...as long as they’re good ones.”) The close to the third quarter was not a total disaster, though, far from it: Brooklyn took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter, where their rotation decisions paid dividends: Irving and Claxton were out there to play the entirety of the final frame. With Mariano Rivera in the house and Enter Sandman blasting as he was introduced on the video board to raucous applause, it was only right one of the NBA’s premier closers got going. While it was fan to watch the two crafty lefties of different sizes go at it, and while Brunson did get some tough shots to go, the Knicks offense was far from ‘humming’. Day’Ron Sharpe was respectable enough, but made one too many mistakes without producing any of the real added-value plays that he made in the first half (which included three tip-in layups!) And this part wasn’t exactly his fault, but the offense the second unit ran, featuring Sharpe screening and running handoffs around the high post, wasn’t as successful. So that piece of it, and then having Nic been able to roam a little bit and give Royce some comfort if Julius was able to drive.” their Manhattan counterpart at 13-3 since the start of the 2018 season, including eight in a row.

“I never feel pressure,” said Thibodeau before the Nets game. “You may not always like them, but we’re doing that to try and put the best product on the floor.” While there may be some disagreement between fans and ownership about what the “best product” looks like, it won’t matter at the end of the day. Still, the head coach is not going to give insinuation that he doesn’t have the roster to meet his owner’s expectations. “He owns the team,” explained Thibodeau. That leaves New York Knicks in the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games behind Miami for the 6th seed.

Normally a player like Allen would be worth more than two seconds, but after the Rui Hachimura trade, it’s hard to scale players’ values. Ibaka is more of a throw-in for the Bucks to get rid of since the two agreed on finding a trade. McBride is a tremendous defender, but his offense has been putrid this season, as he’s averaging 3.4 points per game on 33.1% shooting from the field and 25.8% shooting from behind the arc. Allen could be that guy for the right price. Reddish may have more potential, which is why the Bucks are reportedly interested in him, but he will never reach said potential playing for Tom Thibodeau. With the trade deadline being right around the corner on Feb.

Nets-Knicks has a long way to go before it's a true rivalry | amNewYork (amNY)

BROOKLYN -- The last time the Knicks beat the Nets, Brooklyn's starting lineup featured Spencer Dinwiddie, Taurean Prince, Joe Harris, Garrett Temple and.

And so we have worked in front of us and we want to continue to work.” So that piece of it, the attention, big city, but I think we need to grow a little bit more having some more meaningful games before it gets to that level.” That’s a rival that I remember to this day. New York is still a Knicks town, but the Nets have slowly made inroads since their move from New Jersey to Brooklyn in 2012. However, developing that New York-New York rivalry has been a slow process, with each team struggling to be competitive at the same time. Suffice it to say that it’s been a while since the Manhattanites defeated the team from Kings County.

Kyrie Irving shuts down a late Knicks comeback as the Nets hold on to beat New York on Saturday night.

New York stays in seventh at the time of writing and are a game and half behind the Heat for sixth place in the east. Each time it looked like the Nets were going to let the Knicks back in it, Irving would hit a big shot. He closed the game on a red hot tear to stave off a late Knicks rally and single-handedly finished off the win for Brooklyn.

New York Knicks forward RJ Barrett had a bounce-back performance on Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets after having a pair mediocre overall performances in.

With this performance on Saturday, combined with the clutch deep-range shot on Thursday, there is cautious optimism to be had that Barrett is slowly but surely returning to the stellar player he was prior to his finger injury. Certainly, he was likely playing this game with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Barrett scored 24 points, snagged six rebounds, dished two assists, and recorded one block despite losing to the Nets 122-115 on Saturday.
