I would get all of the best consultants I could find in a room and have them pitch me on new names for the team. It’s weird not to see that bundle of cool hair and long limbs tumbling around on the court and feeling his way around the game. I’d listen very intently to their suggestions and then I’d throw them all in the trash and call them something insane but endearing like the Chihuahuas. The high priced consultants are probably the ones who got us in this mess in the first place. I’m not talking about the guys on the court or anything like that, I’m talking about their whole...deal. Day one I would walk in their and throw everything in the trash. It’s unfortunate how much practice they’ve gotten at it recently, but it’s definitely not the end of the world. It was a night for squinting at Keldon Johnson’s shooting form to see if it’s rounding back into shape. It’s the main thing that keeps me coming back night after night to sit shiva while the rest of the league gets their shots in. They try hard and they work at their game each and every time they take the floor and for that I have immense respect. At their best, this team is overmatched nightly from a talent perspective — and the boys were decidedly not at their best. To their credit, the effort wasn’t in question.

Of course, this being a Clippers season riddled by injury, that plan still wasn’t able to be implemented despite Kennard’s return because the roster still is not whole. By that point the Clippers had scored 100 points, and the win improved them to 18-2 when crossing the triple-digit barrier first. It is why one of the most anticipated elements of Lue’s future rotation plan centers on which combinations of smaller guards Lue chooses to play together, and how often. After their most cohesive week of basketball this season, they will begin a six-game road trip Saturday, attempting to turn that vision into reality. By removing Kennard for Powell, Lue opted against pairing up smaller guards, a lineup construction that the coach has acknowledged makes the Clippers’ life defensively more difficult. [Tyronn Lue](https://www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/story/2022-10-29/clippers-coach-tyronn-lue-not-panicking-2-3-start) wanted one of the NBA’s oldest rosters to find answers among themselves. According to Paul George, the Clippers never once chirped at each other during that rough stretch, which really helped pull them out of it. “Everything is tied to us being able to play and be on the floor together and do what we signed up to do,” George said. “You see it on the court. He said all six opponents are potential playoff teams and the Clippers need to accept the challenge if they hope to maintain this feel-good moment. And when you do that, everybody is feeling good, everybody is touching everybody, being effective,” Powell said. Yet, the players will say the mood in the locker room never faltered. Not even in the darkest days of the season, when players bounced on and off the injured list, losses mounted and preseason expectations were no longer expected, did the Clippers give up.
