Says the prints that crossed over would not be his or the other detective’s. “He remained in the scene. Greene was the first person to arrive at Moselle on the night of the murders. He was cooperative, but there were times that you can see reactions to different things,” Chapman said. It’s during the initial 911 call that Murdaugh first makes mention of the Beaufort County boat crash involving Paul. Colleton County’s Administrative Services Captain Angela Stallings was also called to the stand. If that call was for another country then the center would transfer the call. The court was shown Greene’s body camera footage in full.

LIVE: Day 2 of Testimony in Alex Murdaugh Murder Case (Law & Crime)

The 54-year-old disgraced legal scion is accused of shooting and killing his wife, Margaret “Maggie” Murdaugh, 52, and their youngest son Paul Murdaugh, 22,

Chapman said the defendant asked him how he was doing once he arrived – which he later described as a “quip” from Alex Murdaugh. During that call, Alex Murdaugh explains that he’s going to grab a gun “just in case,” as well as the dispatcher urging him not to do so. In response, the defendant said that he had already touched them both to check for signs of life. “That he mentioned the boat wreck?” “Not my job to figure that out, but I’m just curious.” Stallings is the 911 dispatcher who told Alex Murdaugh not to touch the bodies of the deceased. The corporal said he admittedly was walking around and looking for shell casings on his own initiative in order to preserve evidence from the crowded crime scene. He then offers to check his phone to provide the deputy with exact times. A similar back-and-forth then occurred with Greene admitting that he did not personally make any effort to preserve foot prints found at the crime scene. “That’s correct,” Greene said. Greene said he wasn’t sure how much it had been raining that night but that “it did not appear that rain had caused that water.” “Large pool of blood around her head.”

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCSC) - Six witnesses took the stand Thursday in the first day of testimony in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial.

Harpootlian asked Chapman about a statement from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office stating there was no threat to the community. He said the victims would have gotten to the kennels where they were shot in Paul Murdaugh’s white F-250 truck, which was not there. He tells the operator he had already touched them to check for a pulse. He also said he went back and listened to 911 calls. He said he is going back to his house to grab a gun. If time allowed, it would have been photographed, and then from that point simply protected, absolutely zero collection if anything was done by any of my staff, with the exception of one GSR that was instructed by SLED,” Chapman said. McRoy told Harpootlian that he remembered pointing out tire tracks, which he said were “20 or 30 feet” from the bodies. Greene said he secured the gun in his patrol vehicle after deciding based on the way Murdaugh was acting that it was in everyone’s best interest to do so. They transferred it to Colleton County when they realized it was out of their area. The first witness on the scene was Colleton County Sheriff’s Sgt. The boat that crashed was being driven by Paul Murdaugh and During portions of the video, his attorneys held a file folder box top in front of a monitor on the defense table to prevent Murdaugh from seeing some of the most graphic footage recorded.

Podcasts and documentaries have been made about the family and the murders. Not a single witness will tell the jury that Murdaugh and Maggie’s relationship was anything but loving, Harpootlian said. Evidence will show, the state claims, that Murdaugh’s alleged financial crimes were “about to come to light” when his wife and son were killed. Murdaugh faces 99 charges stemming from 19 grand jury indictments for various crimes, according to the state attorney general’s office, including allegedly defrauding his clients and former law firm of nearly $9 million. “Not believable.” He pleaded not guilty, and court records show the charges were dropped after his death.
