The Cavs lost the first game of their road trip to the struggling New York Knicks Tuesday night, 105-103. Cleveland is just 9-15 away from home this season.

Shortly after building a game-high eight-point lead, the Cavs wilted, with Knicks finishing the third on a 19-6 surge over the final five minutes of the period. He went 6 of his last 20 and missed his final six attempts in the fourth quarter. Mitchell was eventually assisted off the floor and walked gingerly back to the locker room. That allowed New York to claim a five-point edge going into the fourth -- a run that coincided with Cavs coach J.B. As the Knicks started to celebrate a needed win, concerned players and coaches from both sides huddled around Mitchell for a few minutes. Even though the Cavs trailed for much of the first half, they came out of the locker room with some extra juice, scoring seven unanswered points in the third quarter and taking their first lead since the opening minutes. He even went to his house the night before to see family members instead of staying in the team hotel. I fumbled the game away for the group, and that’s on me. A native of nearby Elmsford, Mitchell altered his usual pregame routine ahead of an ugly early December loss -- his first game back home following incessant offseason chatter about getting traded to the Knicks. I felt good enough to come back, and for that to be the last five seconds of the game really pisses me off. But then cooled off, with what was supposed to be a celebratory night ending in frustration and disappointment.
