British actor Julian Sands missing

He has been missing in the Baldy Bowl area of California's San Gabriel mountains since January 13.

In a message sharing the statement, the sheriff’s department added: “As we enter day 11 of the search for Julian Sands on Mt. [Sands](/topic/sands) have praised the “heroic” efforts of [Californian](/topic/california) authorities conducting the search for the missing [British](/topic/british) actor. “Our heartfelt thanks to the compassionate members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department who are coordinating the search for our beloved Julian, not least the heroic search teams listed below who are braving difficult conditions on the ground and in the air to bring Julian home,” the statement said.

The family of missing British actor Julian Sands has thanked the Californian authorities for their efforts in trying to locate him.

Earlier in January, a mother of four whom friends described as an experienced hiker died after sliding more than 500ft (152m) down Mount Baldy. It warned hikers to "stay away" from that area. In the statement - put out on the 11th day since Mr Sands went missing - the family praised the "heroic search teams" who are working through the difficult weather conditions "on the ground and in the air to bring Julian home".
