Jaguars vs. Chiefs: 5 Questions and Game Predictions on Divisional ... (Sports Illustrated)

John and Brett debate where the Jaguars have advantages, and where they could be in trouble come Saturday.

The Jaguars have a lot going against them, simply due to the fact that they are playing the AFC's best team. If Scherff can find some success against him though, the Jaguars will at least have a shot to get their running game and some of their shot plays going. Boasting the sixth youngest roster in the NFL, the Jaguars have the chance to further cement their status as an up-and-coming team and take down a Super Bowl favorite in the process. Chris Jones is the best player the Chiefs have on defense and there is a good argument to make for him as the best defensive lineman in football this season. John Shipley: I do not know if they can do it for a complete 60 minutes, but I do think there are ways the Jaguars can put their offensive attention on Jones to limit him for stretches at a time. There just isn't any clear strategy to playing against him and his elite talent; there is a reason he is already one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

Jaguars vs Chiefs: Players to watch (Big Cat Country)

Christian Kirk and Devin Lloyd must live up to high expectations in the Divisional Round at Kansas City.

According to Football Outsiders, Jacksonville ranked dead last in DVOA on pass to tight ends as well as passes targeting the short middle of the field. Lloyd, who the team traded up to draft 27th overall in April, needs to play much better in this second matchup. In a Week 10 rematch between these teams, the Jaguars are 8.5-point underdogs according to [DraftKings Sportsbook](https://www.draftkings.com/sportsbook). Kansas City had a target on 33’s back the entire game. Kirk needs to teach the rook a lesson or four this week for Jacksonville’s offense to keep scoring like it did late last Saturday night. However, my vote for the MVP of Jacksonville’s back-to-back primetime games is Christian Kirk.

From Week 13 on, McKinnon accounted for a team-leading 25 percent of the Chiefs' red zone targets, and he led the NFL during that time with six touchdown receptions off red zone plays. Remember, you can tail our Jaguars vs. Over the last 10 games, the Jaguars are 7-2-1 against the spread, while the Chiefs are just 2-7-1. Jaguars vs. Chiefs: Daily Fantasy Sleepers, Lineup Picks for ... (Bleacher Report)

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs enter the NFL postseason fray on Saturday to face the Jacksonville Jaguars. The start of this...

Jerick McKinnon is the favorite to be selected at running back for DFS because of his six-game scoring streak and pass-catching ability. Kelce is by far the top target in the Kansas City offense. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are the two consistent options to trust at wide receiver. Zay Jones is the wild card of the group. Engram was one of the breakout stars of the regular season. Kelce had 299 receiving yards and three touchdowns last postseason. Jones is the clear No. 3 wide receiver to have in DFS contests. Etienne ran for 109 yards in his first NFL postseason start. 1 seed in the AFC. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne are easy selections at quarterback and running back. He earned 13 targets against the Chargers, but most of those passes were short-range throws to the sideline.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs: 3 keys to AFC ... (USA TODAY)

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs will meet for the first time in the NFL playoffs. Here are three keys to the AFC divisional contest.

He had 211 passing yards, three touchdowns and no turnovers in the second half. 1 total offense (413 yards per game) and top passing attack (297 yards per game) in the league this year. The Jaguars can ill-afford to have five turnovers on the road in Kansas City. It’s imperative for the Jaguars to get their rushing attack going against a Chiefs defense that allowed 107 rushing yards per game during the regular season. Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo likes to play man-to-man defense and occasionally blitzes (24% per drop back in regular season). Mahomes led the NFL in passing (5,250 yards) during the regular season. The Chiefs defense has given up at least 125 yards rushing in two of their three losses. The Jaguars defense ranked 28th against the pass, allowing 238 yards per game. The Jaguars’ 27-point comeback was the third largest in NFL postseason history. Jacksonville has won six straight games (including last week’s playoff win) entering the divisional playoff matchup. Mahomes and company host a Jaguars squad that rallied back from a 27-0 deficit to [Kansas City Chiefs](https://www.usatoday.com/sports/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/) begin their postseason Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Jaguars vs. Chiefs Prediction, Odds, and Picks for Divisional Round (Pro Football Network)

This Jaguars vs. Chiefs prediction finds value for bettors in the Chiefs insane scoring behavior rate and asks if the Jaguars will have enough time?

But for the purposes of this Jaguars vs. Jacksonville had the ball for only 37% of the time in the first half, ten percentage points below their season average. They won’t get caught sleeping on the Jaguars, especially after what they saw them do to Los Angeles. That would be a recipe for a ticket back home to Jacksonville if that were to happen this week, especially with the Jaguars on pace to give up 0.9 points per minute of opponent possession time in score prevention behavior rate (SPBR). I projected them to win the game by one point, but it is impossible to project anything like how that game played out…except for one element. The Chargers are a team where you can get away with that. In the second half, they reversed and held it above their season average and put up the points. In four of their last five games, they have scored at an SBR of at least 1 point per minute of possession time. Jacksonville had a 98.5% probability at that point of losing, according to ESPN. For the season, the model is 172-83-7* on bets against the spread, on the moneyline and props. Averaging .945 points per minute of possession time in scoring behavior rate (SBR), they sit third among playoff teams behind only Dallas and six games of Brock Purdy. I also have a winning margin prop that should have some value to bettors looking for extra fun.

Chiefs vs. Jaguars: Time, TV channel, streaming, key matchups ... (CBSSports.com)

Patrick Mahomes and Trevor Lawrence meet with a trip to the AFC title game on the line.

[NFL](/nfl/) in rush defense DVOA this season, and that the Chiefs likely have an advantage in the trenches, and the likelihood of the Chiefs offense failing in this game starts to seem pretty minuscule. [Christian Kirk](/nfl/players/2180820/christian-kirk/) (76% of snaps in the slot, according to Pro Football Focus) vs. That's especially true if what we saw from McKinnon as a runner both last postseason (34 carries for 150 yards) and in the games where he actually received significant carries this year (he went 8-53, 8-51, and 10-52 in the only three games where he had 8 carries or more). Only two teams allowed more receiving yards to players lined up in the slot than did the Jaguars, and Mahomes went 10 of 13 for 153 yards and two scores to slot men during the game, despite Smith-Schuster leaving early. [L'Jarius Sneed](/nfl/players/2239881/ljarius-sneed/), and tight end [Evan Engram](/nfl/players/2079887/evan-engram/) vs. The places he likes to go with the ball, are the same places the Jaguars tend to leave open, and we've already seen him pick them apart with those exact types of throws. [Kansas City Chiefs](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/KC/kansas-city-chiefs/), against the No. Kansas City is going to score; putting the game on Lawrence's right shoulder, rather than counting on Etienne and the offensive line to control the ball all game, is Jacksonville's best chance of pulling off an upset. On the perimeter, [Zay Jones](/nfl/players/2080270/zay-jones/) and [Marvin Jones](/nfl/players/1631804/marvin-jones/) will see coverage from rookies [Trent McDuffie](/nfl/players/3121359/trent-mcduffie/) and [Jaylen Watson](/nfl/players/3176898/jaylen-watson/), and they are somewhat easier to throw on than is Sneed, but Lawrence was at his best ripping it over the middle -- especially when he was able to push the ball downfield while doing so. [Trevor Lawrence](/nfl/players/2967185/trevor-lawrence/). That means he'll also need to exceed the performance he put forth when these teams met back in Week 10, when he completed 29 of 40 passes, but for just 259 yards (6.5 per attempt) and two touchdowns. He ranked sixth in the league in Expected Points Added (EPA) per dropback on those plays.
