But you just brought up a really good point about not playing hero ball and the need to be creative as a play caller and as a designer of a defense. But the way they adjusted after that and admitted that they didn't play their best ball kind of speaks to his leadership.

The Houston Texans have completed a coaching interview with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.

Ryans finished out his career with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2012-15. The Texans have plenty of familiarity with Ryans as he was their 2006 second-round pick from Alabama. Ryans led the 49ers defense starting in 2021 where San Francisco finished as the third total defense and tied for ninth in points allowed.
