The M.V.P. Of The 2023 Chicago Bulls Is A Surprise To Most (sportsmockery.com)

DeMar DeRozan and Zach Lavine often smother the highlight reel and box scores, but one Chicago Bull is better than each in the new year.

With their impressive record against the top seeds in the conference, recently boasting their first win where DeRozan, Lavine, and Vucevic all score 20 or more points, and the drastic improvements from Lavine and Vucevic in the past month, the Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with. Chicago’s ‘Big Three’ are finally all bursting on the scene simultaneously, learning cohesion to each other’s games and becoming a dangerous threat in the Eastern Conference. Whether it was triggered by the ’embarrassing effort’ against the Timberwolves, an improvement in ball movement as a team, or the looming free-agency this off-season, Nikola Vucevic turning a page has brought winning back to the Windy City. In November, the first full month of the 2022-23′ campaign, Vucevic averaged a measly 14 points, three assists, and ten rebounds per contest. While that performance put the nation on notice, Bulls fans know he’s been playing his best basketball for over a month now. title thus far, but since the calendar has flipped to 2023, a new name has surfaced as being the focal point for Chicago.

COLUMN: It's time for the Chicago Bulls to 'blow up' their roster (Northern Star Online)

Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid looks to shoot as Chicago Bulls' Nikola Vucevic (9) and Zach LaVine defend during the first half of an NBA basketball game ...

The front office should make trades at the deadline to correct what this roster lacks or blow it up and wait until the offseason. LaVine has played lackluster on offense and defense, which caused him to get benched earlier this season and called out by teammates in their matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The only all-star that has been playing up to par this season is DeMar DeRozan, but he can’t do it by himself, it’s time for Nikola Vučević and Zach LaVine to step up.

When also factoring in that Nikola Vucevic can shoot the 3-point shot at an above-average clip, shooting 38.3% this season, they might take the risk on it and hope that they can get him for a better deal than what he's on right now. It also helps that I’ve been doing this for so long that teams know what I do, how good I am, what I bring to the table. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, Vucevic seemed to understand that this is a business and the Bulls also need to make the right decision based on their current needs. From the Lakers' perspective, it might not be a bad decision. His contract is a bit much as he's currently making $100 million through four seasons, which he signed before the trade to Chicago. “I think the front office kind of wants to see how everything goes this season before they make decisions.

Bulls hope to return from France better than they left as trade ... (The Athletic)

With only nine games remaining on the Bulls' schedule before the Feb. 9 trade deadline, the team has reached a critical stage.

[Orlando](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/magic/), [Houston](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/rockets/) and [San Antonio](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/spurs/), teams with a combined 40-94 record. Before delighting the crowd with four dunks, [Derrick Jones Jr.](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/derrick-jones-jr-dCHS5R1hLEo4AXgQ/) proposed to his girlfriend, Sherry, at a team dinner. If the Bulls don’t make improvements and Ball doesn’t return, Chicago likely will land where no franchise should voluntarily choose: in the middle. If the Bulls aren’t good enough to compete for a championship this season, and because they don’t own their own draft pick, rendering bottoming out pointless, the question becomes what are they doing? Four-time NBA champion and French legend Tony Parker welcomed the crowd inside Accor Arena, alongside Vučević and [Killian Hayes](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/killian-hayes-n5aDTrWfghYABogB/), the Pistons’ starting point guard and a native of France. If they ignore the team’s inconsistency and allow the roster a chance to get right, what happens if it never does? The Bulls (21-24) will return from France only three games under .500., a record they haven’t held since Nov. Or would it be wiser if the Bulls start selling assets and retooling the roster? [all they could to turn the trip into a family affair](https://theathletic.com/4100420/2023/01/17/bulls-pistons-nba-paris/). [NBA](https://theathletic.com/nba/) behind them, the Bulls and Pistons put on quite a show for the people in France. With only nine games remaining on the Bulls’ schedule before the Feb. Well, that certainly would break the monotony and possibly serve as the catalyst that frees Chicago from inconsistency.

Michael Reinsdorf talks Bulls' global brand, Pistons rivalry (NBC Sports Chicago)

Bulls CEO Michael Reinsdorf is appreciative of the franchise's storied past and global brand but doesn't want to merely live in the past.

My memory of the game was sitting in the stands and people smoking cigarettes during the game, which I couldn’t believe that was still a thing,” Reinsdorf said. “This started out with the Dream Team in 1992 and the NBA is the second-most popular sport in the world and I think there’s a great opportunity for the NBA to play games all over the world.” “My memory of the game is I was actually nervous. I think this is a great opportunity for the NBA,” Reinsdorf said. “But we can’t shy away from the fact back in the 90s we won six championships in eight years and we were one of the first global teams in sports. “We don’t want to rest on what happened in the ‘90s.

Chicago Bulls impress fans in dominate win over Pistons in Paris (Pippen Ain't Easy)

The Chicago Bulls win handily in the City of Light with efficient play on both ends of the court. Can this be the springboard for a second-half push?

It’s these frustrating losses to lesser opponents that have seemed to throw sand in the team’s gears this season. Hopefully, this win vaults the team into a solid stretch that has them contending for a more favorable playoff position. Games against inferior opponents have seemed to trip the Bulls up this season. In a game that threatened to see the Bulls once again play down to their opponent’s level, they put together a strong 4-quarter game where they managed to walk away with a dominant 126-108 victory. Although neither team was incredibly effective from beyond the arc, the Bulls were highly efficient near the basket and in the mid-range. Can this be the springboard for a second-half push?
