I wasn’t just experiencing the world of offseason basketball training for the first time; I was experiencing a community that had been building for decades. I never did find that person, but what I did find was a tall, bald, dark-skinned man in a black T-shirt, long black shorts and cross-trainers laughing at people for missing layups. I was there looking for a man I had never seen and therefore looking for anyone who resembled a coach.

49ers vs. Seahawks weather forecast: Heavy rains, gusty winds ... (CBSSports.com)

Get your raincoats ready as Super Wild Card Weekend is expected to kick off with plenty of rain.

If both teams are forced to cut back on their aerial attack, it's possible Seattle would more happily welcome a low-scoring affair. In the end, while San Francisco is built to win on the ground, heavy rainfall might actually help Seattle more. A severe thunderstorm has the potential to delay the game even after it's begun, but the more likely scenario is that Seahawks-49ers will proceed with both teams limited through the air. Excessive runoff may result in rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying areas flooding, per The Weather Channel, with extensive street flooding also possible. Although winds are only projected at 9-10 mph around game time, they could be gusty in the hours leading up to kickoff, with southbound winds reaching 20-30 mph and topping out at up to 50 mph. ET, with more rain -- and potentially a lot of it -- picking up around 5 p.m.

Brock Purdy, 49ers find rhythm in second half as Seahawks falter (ESPN)

Purdy's three second-half touchdowns energized the Niners' offense as the defense stifled the Seahawks.

[DK Metcalf](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4047650/dk-metcalf) in the second quarter for a 50-yard touchdown that gave Seattle a lead. The 49ers finished the game with 181 yards after the catch, their third most in a game this season. That made for a tough matchup against a 49ers offense that has led the NFL in YAC for the past six seasons, and it went about as poorly for Seattle as you'd expect. Pivotal play: Late in the third quarter, the Seahawks were driving for what might have been the go-ahead touchdown or at least a field goal to cut the 49ers' lead to three points. They weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs in the first place after trading quarterback But the 49ers just sent them into the offseason with another reminder that the Seahawks will need to take a big step forward before they can catch back up to the new bully on the NFC West block. They've got a promising young core and a boatload of 2023 draft capital, including the fifth overall pick via the Wilson trade. So much for the inclement weather that might have been an equalizer for Seattle by slowing down the 49ers and their run-after-the-catch playmakers. But he made his first attempt count on the second possession, racing 68 yards off the left side for the third-longest rush of his career. The NFC wild-card win was the 11th in a row for the 49ers, who will face an opponent to be determined in next weekend's divisional round. So much for the Seahawks getting Purdy to buckle under the pressure of his first playoff start. Whatever was affecting Purdy early vanished with a quick stop in the locker room at halftime.

A Team Will Need to Be Perfect to Beat the 49ers (Sports Illustrated)

Take a closer look at Deebo Samuel's 74-yard touchdown, and you can see everything that makes San Francisco so dangerous.

It can look for 30 minutes like both teams belong on the same field, in the same division, in the same playoff bracket. Everything that makes the 49ers so terrifying was there in that 13 seconds against the Seahawks on Saturday. We’ll save you the trouble of going back and watching all of them. The defense is better than any other in the league. He’s the youngest player in NFL history to throw for at least two touchdowns and run for another in a playoff game. After the game, Pete Carroll said he was frustrated because he thought the game was in their grasp. Samuel gets his hands on the ball and there isn’t a player on either side of him for four yards. It can look like a real race. The 49ers can move on a team in so many different ways. He is the first rookie to account for four total touchdowns in a playoff game. The Seahawks gave it their best effort and finished like an amateur golfer at the Masters. Purdy completes his rollout and calmly looks downfield as a Seahawks linebacker, Cody Barton, runs at him with his hands in the air.

We just had to call plays to try to win the game and he did such a hell of a job and he's done it every time since, so we have a lot of confidence I him. The drive ended with another [Robbie Gould](https://www.nfl.com/players/robbie-gould/) field goal, only this time Purdy had delivered like he had all half. We didn't have the luxury to sit there and worry about stuff, the way the game was going. Purdy gave himself 5.04 seconds of time to throw on the play, [per Next Gen Stats](https://twitter.com/NextGenStats/status/1614411485299740672). It's gonna be tough all the way through, but (it's) how are you gonna perform in the tough moments?" The score began a run of 25 unanswered points to put a once-close game far out of reach. "He's the reason we have a chance at the whole thing," Warner said. His uncharacteristic inaccuracy stalled the drive and led to a field goal rather than a TD. With the rainy weather and ample pressure mounting in the first playoff game of the Purdy's career, those waiting for the No. Coming in late in the season, he's the one that people should be talking about.

We’ve got to just keep clicking on all cylinders.” I’ve got such a great team, O-line, receivers, defense, across the whole board, man. Purdy connected on a 3-yard pass to Christian McCaffrey in the first quarter, converted a 1-yard sneak in the third quarter and a 7-yard TD pass to Elijah Mitchell early in the fourth to make it 31-17.

"He is a good player, and I think anybody who watches football can see that. "I feel like that turned our team up a notch," said Samuel, who finished with 165 scrimmages yards and a score. 4 lessons Texans should learn from the 49ers' 41-23 playoff win ... (Texans Wire)

The Houston Texans would be wise to pick up on these four areas that helped the San Francisco 49ers pummel the Seattle Seahawks 41-23 in the playoffs.

The Texans must find a coach such as that to get out of the morass of rebuilding. Houston has to find a coach who the players will rally behind, yet also has a high attention to detail. Houston doesn’t have to turn back the clock to “three yards and a cloud of dust,” but they do need to elevate their run game. Kyle Shanahan has a culture in place where the players continue to fight no matter their record. The Texans need to use free agency or draft capital to bring in disruptive defensive linemen. The Texans are looking for their third coach in as many offseasons with general manager Nick Caserio running the front office.
