His 15.7 rebounds per game in 1977-78 were the most in the NBA that year and his 1,288 total rebounds that campaign still stand as a single-season franchise record. Williams was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the third overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft and spent six seasons with the organization (2005-11), appearing in 439 games (406 starts), averaging 17.3 points, 9.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 35.6 minutes per game. A native of Turkey, Okur was named an All-Star during the 2006-07 season, where he helped Utah to a Western Conference Finals appearance. He also looks like a dominant rebounder and could be a force for the Jazz for years to come. In the first half alone, Kessler had 5 blocks and 7 total for the game. The Jazz have found a star for the future. Utah Jazz analysis: Walker Kessler's blocks and more in win vs. Magic (Deseret News)

The Utah Jazz managed to eke out a win over the Orlando Magic on Friday night at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

After watching, a lot of the rebounds he got were uncontested and off misses without anyone from the other team around. After the game Clarkson said that he was just in the right spot at the right time for the most part, and he’s right. So it’s notable that they won the battle of the boards against the Orlando Magic on Friday, 60-40. He’s actually been doing this a lot more lately, recognizing when defenses are trying to run him off the 3-point line and taking advantage of mismatches. But even so, he finished the night with a game-high 28 points because he went 17-of-21 from the free-throw line. This one is amazing because of what happened just before the block.

Orlando Magic at Utah Jazz (Jan. 13, 2023): 3 Things To Watch ... (Orlando Magic Daily)

The Orlando Magic continue their road trip in Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz in a battle of two young teams and distinctly different styles.

This should all point to how critical Carter is to connecting the team on both ends and how effective he can be. The Utah Jazz are 14th in the league in 3-point percentage (36.2 percent) and fourth in makes per game (14.4 per game). The Magic have a 114.2 defensive rating with Carter on the floor. It is abundantly clear how much better the team is with him and his understanding both of how to connect the team offensively and be a backstop defensively. And whether the Magic are a team that could give the Jazz problems at a home site they have dominated in with a 13-7 home record. That also describes the Utah Jazz (13-7 at home, 8-16 on the road). Compare that to the road where the Jazz have splits of 114.2/116.6. That describes the Orlando Magic well (10-12 at Amway Center, 6-14 on the road). The Jazz have the fourth-best home offense in the league at 118.2 points per 100 possessions. The Utah Jazz are in the same boat. [Then against the Portland Trail Blazers](https://orlandomagicdaily.com/2023/01/11/orlando-magic-never-trail-in-close-win-against-portland-trail-blazers/), the Orlando Magic were scrambling like crazy to get stops at the 3-point line and held the Blazers to 6 for 35 shooting including three misses to tie the game on the final possession. They are also a young team that is getting a grip on who they are and what they can do.

The Sixers will also have James Harden this time around to help spread the floor, making it even easier for Embiid to maneuver. The Sixers cannot let Markkanen and the Jazz do whatever they want in the same way they let Shai Gilgeous-Alexander run all over them last game. At 25-16, the Sixers are holding on to the fifth place spot in the Eastern Conference. The contest was an overall defensive failure for the hosts, a concerning trend to start on the cusp of a five-game road trip to the West Coast. Tyrese Maxey followed with 18 points and James Harden was out with injury at the time. As of Friday, Markkanen was shooting 7.1 3-pointers per game with a shooting percentage of 41.1 from long range.
