Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville Jaguars live online: stats, scores ... (AS English)

The division title and a spot in the playoffs is at stake tonight from TIAA Bank Stadium as the Tennessee Titans head take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s all or nothing tonight from Jacksonville as the win moves on and the loser goes home. Dobbs held on for a little while, but the Cowboys were too much for the Titans and they pulled away in the second half. Henry gets the handoff, and gets 5 yards. The Jags second half surge has fallen largely on the shoulders of their quarterback Trevor Lawrence who has been playing the best football of his NFL career over the month and a half. I think both teams come out and light it up and it goes down to the wire in Jacksonville. The Jags and the Titans met a month ago in Tennessee, and the Jags got their first of what would be a four game win streak coming into tonight. Dobbs made the catch and took it 2 yards, but the flag will back them up 5 yards. The Jags go into their bag of tricks and it comes back to bite them. Jones was wide open in the back of the end zone, and Lawrence over threw him by 10 yards. Henry gets the direct snap, and ran left but then pulled back and threw it. He had Kirk down the field but Simmons broke up the pass and JAX will kick the FG on 4th down and 3. He returned it 29 yards to the TEN 25.

Tennessee Titans' season ends with loss to Jacksonville Jaguars ... (The Tennessean)

The Tennessee Titans' season ended in devastating fashion, with a sack-fumble returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to lose the AFC South.

While the Titans still didn't often turn blitzes into sacks in the second half, the pressures started making a difference. The Titans (7-10) lost on a crushing [sack-fumble stripped](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/josh-allen-touchdown-jacksonville-jaugars-tennessee-titans-game-afc-south/69787978007/) out of the hands of quarterback Joshua Dobbs by Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Dobbs gave the Titans something rookie quarterback Malik Willis wasn't able to in his three starts and definitely has shown he deserves a role on the team. Unlike their first meeting with the Jaguars, the Titans dictated the pace of play early, leading to first-half success. [falling 20-16 to end their season](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/07/tennessee-titans-score-jacksonville-jaguars-nfl-playoffs-afc-south/69767794007/) on a seven-game losing streak while surrendering their AFC South crown to the Jaguars. Lawrence was only hit once and never sacked in the first half, using that time to his advantage. The plan was to be as deliberate as possible. But as the second half wore on, Dobbs succumbed to some of the flaws that have recurred all season for this Titans offense. The Titans suffered their worst ending to a season since losing 10 straight games in 2014. Injuries played a huge part in the Titans' downfall, but so did stale offense, poor pass protection, an inability to affect opposing quarterbacks and a porous secondary that consistently ranked at the bottom of the NFL in pass yardage allowed. Dobbs played as well as any Titans quarterback has all year, withstanding hits and evading pressure to keep drives alive and find targets downfield. The Titans were salting away clock with less than three minutes remaining before the fumble, which bounced forward to Allen waiting in the flats for Jacksonville (9-8).

Jaguars reach playoffs with timely defense, just enough offense ... (ESPN)

The Titans didn't make it easy on the Jags, who made the big plays they needed late and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Dobbs also made a perfect drop-in-the-bucket throw to [Chigoziem Okonkwo](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4360635/chigoziem-okonkwo) for a touchdown. [Austin Hooper](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3043275/austin-hooper) on an out-breaking route on third down. Fortunately for McCreary, [Trevor Lawrence](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4360310/trevor-lawrence) overshot Jones, and the Jaguars had to settle for a field goal. He should've had safety help over the top but [Joshua Kalu](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3116105/joshua-kalu) was late to the party. [Zay Jones](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3059722/zay-jones) in the end zone. [Christian Kirk](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3895856/christian-kirk) in the front corner of the end zone. [Roger McCreary](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4371973/roger-mccreary) gave up another touchdown catch pushing his season total to seven. But a Rayshawn Jenkins blitz in the fourth quarter led to a Dobbs fumble that was returned for a touchdown. That possession began with [Tyson Campbell](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4379397/tyson-campbell)'s interception of an underthrown pass by Dobbs. That gave the Jaguars (9-8) the AFC South title with a [20-16](/nfl/game/_/gameId/401437954) win and sent them to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. He was pressured again when corner [Roger McCreary](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4371973/roger-mccreary) was able to catch up to Kirk, who had a step, and break up the pass. That makes up for the fumble earlier in the game.

Six Things That Stood Out for the Titans in Saturday Night's 20-16 ... (Tennessee Titans)

When the game ended, the scene on the field – the Jaguars celebrating – and in the Titans locker room – dejected players with tears in their eyes – told the story. The late third quarter interception thrown by Dobbs set up a Jacksonville field goal early in the fourth quarter, and then the Jaguars scored on the late strip sack touchdown. Henry's most memorable play of the night, however, was his stiff-arm of Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins on a 14-yard run. On Saturday night, Lawrence threw for just 212 yards, and the Jaguars managed just 13 first downs. I'm proud of my effort, I'm proud of the team's effort and I'm proud of how guys fought." On the night, Dobbs completed 20-of-29 passes for 179 yards with the TD and INT.

In the first quarter, the Titans went for it on fourth-and-three not once, but twice, and converted both times on a 17-play drive that took 9:59 off the clock. "When you throw the ball, and the ball goes forward after the guy hits you, it feels like … "I felt like my arm was moving forward," Dobbs, who completed 20-of-29 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the contest, said of the late turnover. It's a disappointing way to end the year."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. − After 10 weeks of pain, Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons finally felt his agony. Simmons and the Titans lost 20-16 ...

They won't have another chance to excise the demons of this losing streak until next season starts in September. The Titans didn't get that win. And the people that have stood by us through this whole thing." The message was one of pride, one of gratitude. The Titans have plenty to figure out, but wanting to win isn't one of them. I just wanted to be on the field. So did the stale offensive approach to second halves that's haunted the team since Week 1. But that win slipped through the grasp of [quarterback Joshua Dobbs' fingers](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/joshua-dobbs-fumble-reaction-tennessee-titans-jacksonville-jaguars-game/69788019007/) on a sack-fumble returned for a touchdown with 2:51 remaining to give the Jaguars (9-8) their only lead of the game, and the only lead they needed. The Titans sent 28 players to injured reserve this season, finishing with 23 players on the shelf. [Tennessee Titans reaped what they sowed in this failure of a 2022 season No matter what, I wanted to be on that field.

The signal-caller’s arm was moving forward, and the ball ultimately went in that direction, also. The only two starters the Titans should consider keeping are obviously Jones and Davis, the latter of whom is under contract for next season. Both have the potential to be special. Had the offensive line provided just a little better effort, Dobbs might’ve been able to do more in the second half. Of course, nothing we can do to change it and NFL officiating will never be perfect, but worth noting nonetheless. And the Titans should be interested in giving him one. Don’t be surprised if the Titans run it back with Ryan Tannehill for another season. Dobbs, who is well-traveled, looked pretty good considering in his two starts with the Titans. We’ve seen the same issues over and over again for two seasons now. Sure, it a bad decision by Burks no matter what happened there, but just a risky and terrible call if designed. Now, the Titans have something to show for it, so big silver lining there. What a roller coaster ride it was, from the A.J.

How the Titans Went From 7-3 to Out of the Playoffs (Sports Illustrated)

There were consistent problems during a seven-game losing streak that culminated with Saturday's 20-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Of course, Harold Landry was never a part of the pass rush this year. That could be forcing him out of the pocket and to throw on the run. The Titans 30 sacks in the first 10 games with at least one in all 10, as many as six in a single game (Denver on Nov. The only ones they got to more than once were Justin Herbert (three) and Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts (two). An ankle injury slowed Jeffery Simmons during the second half of the season, and Denico Autry missed four straight with a knee injury. Of course, nothing affects a quarterback more than getting him to the ground. • Injuries, injures and more injuries: The Titans finished the season with 23 players on injured reserve, and more than half of them got there during the seven-game slide to end the season. In the first meeting between the division rivals, the Titans were minus-4 with three fumbles lost and one interception, all of which led to 20 Jaguars’ points. It could be forcing him to throw the ball sooner than he wants. Finally, a 16-10 lead over Jacksonville shrunk to 16-13 in the opening minute of the final period. Thirteen – that’s right – 13 players were deemed unfit to finish the season since the loss to Cincinnati on Nov. Ten games into their schedule, any simulator you could find determined that they had better than a 90 percent chance to reach the postseason.

Who Tennessee Titans should root for (and against) in Week 18 to ... (The Tennessean)

The Tennessee Titans can secure a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft if everything goes right Sunday. Here's your rooting guide.

If the Jets and Browns lose, the Titans should get the No. If either or both of those teams win, the Titans will most likely carry tiebreaker advantages in both cases, but even with lost tiebreakers the Titans can pick no higher than 12th. Tiebreakers: The Browns' enter Week 18 with a .520 strength of schedule. The Steelers need a lot of help, but they'll still be incentivized to win. If both teams finish with 7-10 records, the Titans will almost certainly be picking ahead of them. the Jacksonville Jaguars](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/joshua-dobbs-fumble-tennessee-titans-nfl-playoffs-2022-jacksonville-jaguars/69767810007/) on Saturday, causing the Titans to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Depending on how Sunday goes, it's conceivable that either the Titans or Saints finish with the worse strength of schedule. Rooting interest: Root for the Panthers. (The Broncos and Rams have already traded their picks to the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions, respectively.) From there, there are four games of consequence for the Titans. In an event where multiple teams finished with the same record, the better pick is given to the team that played an easier schedule. Thanks to their seven-game losing streak to end the season, the Titans finish with a 7-10 record and are in position to claim a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, somewhere the Titans haven't picked since 2017.

Per Tankathon, Tennessee is exactly 10th, but that could change a spot or two after the results of Sunday. As least there’s something to show for this mess of a season. To make the showing even more impressive, the unit did it despite being absolutely plagued by injuries. No, Dobbs isn’t a starting-caliber quarterback, but he did prove he can be a solid backup. In fact, they should’ve won the game and sent Jacksonville packing instead. Anyone who thinks Vrabel should be fired needs to reassess their beliefs.

Titans' Ryan Stonehouse officially breaks multiple NFL records (Titans Wire)

Tennessee Titans punter Ryan Stonehouse broke multiple NFL records in his first season, including one that stood for 82 years.

Tennessee seemingly hit a home run with the signing of Stonehouse, which it needed to when keeping the rookie meant parting ways with Brett Kern. The Colorado State product also smashed the rookie record for the highest net average yards per punt with 44.0, a full 1.36 yards more than the old record. The Colorado product has officially broken Hall of Famer Sammy Baugh’s 82-year-old record for the highest gross yards per punt over an entire season.
