Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville Jaguars live online: stats, scores ... (AS English)

The division title and a spot in the playoffs is at stake tonight from TIAA Bank Stadium as the Tennessee Titans head take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s all or nothing tonight from Jacksonville as the win moves on and the loser goes home. Dobbs held on for a little while, but the Cowboys were too much for the Titans and they pulled away in the second half. Henry gets the handoff, and gets 5 yards. The Jags second half surge has fallen largely on the shoulders of their quarterback Trevor Lawrence who has been playing the best football of his NFL career over the month and a half. I think both teams come out and light it up and it goes down to the wire in Jacksonville. The Jags and the Titans met a month ago in Tennessee, and the Jags got their first of what would be a four game win streak coming into tonight. Dobbs made the catch and took it 2 yards, but the flag will back them up 5 yards. The Jags go into their bag of tricks and it comes back to bite them. Jones was wide open in the back of the end zone, and Lawrence over threw him by 10 yards. Henry gets the direct snap, and ran left but then pulled back and threw it. He had Kirk down the field but Simmons broke up the pass and JAX will kick the FG on 4th down and 3. He returned it 29 yards to the TEN 25.

Six Things That Stood Out for the Titans in Saturday Night's 20-16 ... (Tennessee Titans)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Titans lost 20-16 to the Jaguars here on Saturday night. ... It was a short season for quarterback Josh Dobbs in Tennessee. After joining ...

When the game ended, the scene on the field – the Jaguars celebrating – and in the Titans locker room – dejected players with tears in their eyes – told the story. The late third quarter interception thrown by Dobbs set up a Jacksonville field goal early in the fourth quarter, and then the Jaguars scored on the late strip sack touchdown. Henry's most memorable play of the night, however, was his stiff-arm of Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins on a 14-yard run. On Saturday night, Lawrence threw for just 212 yards, and the Jaguars managed just 13 first downs. I'm proud of my effort, I'm proud of the team's effort and I'm proud of how guys fought." On the night, Dobbs completed 20-of-29 passes for 179 yards with the TD and INT.

Titans End Season With Heartbreaking, 20-16 Loss to the Jaguars (Tennessee Titans)

The Titans lost a late lead – and eventually the game. The Jaguars scored a defensive touchdown with 2:51 left to take the lead, and the Titans weren't able ...

In the first quarter, the Titans went for it on fourth-and-three not once, but twice, and converted both times on a 17-play drive that took 9:59 off the clock. "I thought we started the game how we wanted to, but you have to finish better. "I told the guys I appreciate their efforts," Henry said. "When you throw the ball, and the ball goes forward after the guy hits you, it feels like … "I felt like my arm was moving forward," Dobbs, who completed 20-of-29 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the contest, said of the late turnover. It's a disappointing way to end the year."

Who Tennessee Titans should root for (and against) in Week 18 to ... (The Tennessean)

The Tennessee Titans can secure a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft if everything goes right Sunday. Here's your rooting guide.

If the Jets and Browns lose, the Titans should get the No. If either or both of those teams win, the Titans will most likely carry tiebreaker advantages in both cases, but even with lost tiebreakers the Titans can pick no higher than 12th. Tiebreakers: The Browns' enter Week 18 with a .520 strength of schedule. The Steelers need a lot of help, but they'll still be incentivized to win. If both teams finish with 7-10 records, the Titans will almost certainly be picking ahead of them. the Jacksonville Jaguars](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/joshua-dobbs-fumble-tennessee-titans-nfl-playoffs-2022-jacksonville-jaguars/69767810007/) on Saturday, causing the Titans to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Depending on how Sunday goes, it's conceivable that either the Titans or Saints finish with the worse strength of schedule. Rooting interest: Root for the Panthers. (The Broncos and Rams have already traded their picks to the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions, respectively.) From there, there are four games of consequence for the Titans. In an event where multiple teams finished with the same record, the better pick is given to the team that played an easier schedule. Thanks to their seven-game losing streak to end the season, the Titans finish with a 7-10 record and are in position to claim a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, somewhere the Titans haven't picked since 2017.

Biggest takeaways from Titans' Week 18 loss to Jaguars (Titans Wire)

The Tennessee Titans' 2022 campaign officially came to an end on Saturday night after a 20-16 loss at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank ...

Per Tankathon, Tennessee is exactly 10th, but that could change a spot or two after the results of Sunday. As least there’s something to show for this mess of a season. To make the showing even more impressive, the unit did it despite being absolutely plagued by injuries. No, Dobbs isn’t a starting-caliber quarterback, but he did prove he can be a solid backup. In fact, they should’ve won the game and sent Jacksonville packing instead. Anyone who thinks Vrabel should be fired needs to reassess their beliefs.

Tennessee Titans were certain of one thing after loss to Jaguars ... (The Tennessean)

What's next for the Tennessee Titans after losing 7-straight to end the season? Questions about their new GM, their coaches and personnel everywhere.

Nick Suss is the Titans beat writer for The Tennessean. The Titans need a lot of help if they want to make sure next season ends better than this one. [the Titans](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/tennessee-titans-grades-jacksonville-jaguars-afc-south-2022/69767814007/) was tough as they come. Now players are talking about the inevitability of change and the harsh reality of football being a business. It’s really great to be a part of that, and to be a part of these guys, some of these guys won’t be here next year. "It’s really humbling to go out there and be able to play," defensive lineman Teair Tart said. I’m very appreciative and thankful for the teammates and coaches we have." The player-usage rate in back-to-back seasons is surely a first in NFL history, considering Tennessee used a record 91 players in 2021. [Tennessee Titans reaped what they sowed in this failure of a 2022 season "That’s never the plan, never the goal. Outside the facility we all could be hanging out. Tides change fast in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans QB Joshua Dobbs says arm was going forward on ... (The Tennessean)

Tennessee Titans quarterback Joshua Dobbs exceeded expectations in his two-start, 17-day stint, but his late fumble led to the Jaguars' go-ahead score.

But Dobbs said his arm was going forward on the play, which flipped a 16-13 Titans lead to an [eventual 20-16 loss.](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/joshua-dobbs-fumble-tennessee-titans-nfl-playoffs-2022-jacksonville-jaguars/69767810007/) "...Yeah, I just have to get the ball out a little bit quicker, feel that rush especially at that point in the game, and keep us in a better situation." The play was automatically reviewed, as all scoring plays and turnovers are in the NFL. Jaguars defensive back Rayshawn Jenkins had a free shot at Dobbs from his backside, and Jenkins got the ball out as Dobbs was raising up to throw the ball. Jaguars Up-Down drill: the good, the bad and ugly from Tennessee ... (The Florida Times-Union)

Tracking the good, the bad and the ugly from the Jaguars' game against the Tennessee Titans in Up-Down drill.

The Jaguars and other clubs outlined the number 3 (Hamlin's number) on each 30-yard line in Bills' colors, either blue or red. Several Jaguars, including Lawrence, sported T-shirts to show their compassion and support for Hamlin, who continues to improve each day in his recovery at a Cincinnati hospital. A sellout crowd of 70,050 was the most boisterous home-field advantage the Jaguars have enjoyed in a long time. Wearing a teal No. But on that play, Doug Pederson called for a risky reverse that ended in disaster. Cooke had four punts with a whopping net average of 50.5 yards. The Jaguars chose red because they had the paint scheme that more closely resembled one of the Buffalo colors. This time, they trailed 16-10 entering the fourth quarter. It was a cool experience. Hitting that milestone triggered a contract incentive paying him an extra $500K. His last three punts were downed at the Tennessee 9, 6 and 10-yard lines, allowing the Jaguars to win a battle of field position that were critical in winning the game. It was special.

He got the job done in the game’s biggest moment and they are going to the playoffs as a result. It was the perfect game for him as he needed to win this very hard game in order to get his team into the postseason. It is going to be fun to see what he can do in the playoffs. There were growing pains for him in 2021 and the beginning parts of this season but he has certainly arrived. They deserve so much credit for this win and it was a long time coming. It was a win and be division champions or lose and rely on three other AFC teams to all lose as well.

How Tennessee Titans responded to 'embarrassing,' painful end to ... (The Tennessean)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. − After 10 weeks of pain, Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons finally felt his agony. Simmons and the Titans lost 20-16 ...

They won't have another chance to excise the demons of this losing streak until next season starts in September. The Titans didn't get that win. [lost 20-16 to the Jacksonville Jaguars](https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2023/01/08/joshua-dobbs-fumble-tennessee-titans-nfl-playoffs-2022-jacksonville-jaguars/69767810007/) on Saturday night, ending their season on a seven-game losing streak to miss the playoffs for the first time in Simmons' four-year career. And the people that have stood by us through this whole thing." The message was one of pride, one of gratitude. The Titans have plenty to figure out, but wanting to win isn't one of them. I just wanted to be on the field. So did the stale offensive approach to second halves that's haunted the team since Week 1. The Titans sent 28 players to injured reserve this season, finishing with 23 players on the shelf. Tennessee Titans' list of 2023 opponents (Titans Wire)

Now that the Tennessee Titans' 2022 campaign is officially over following their heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday ...

And with that clarity, we now know who Tennessee will play in 2023. Without further ado, here are the teams the Titans will play in 2023. Along with their typical AFC South matchups, the Titans have three against teams that finished second in their divisions, as well as games against the entire AFC North and NFC South.

State of Offense as Offseason Starts (Sports Illustrated)

Taylor Lewan, Ryan Tannehill and Robert Woods are among the players who could be cut for salary cap relief. Many questions must be answered on the offensive ...

This looks like a priority re-sign for the Titans, but what’s his market value after missing a combined eight games in the last two years – and finishing this year on IR? The 31-year-old Lewan, a three-time Pro Bowler, is a lock to be released because he has a cap hit of $14.8 million next season (Titans would suffer no penalty for cutting him) and has suffered two ACL tears in the last three seasons. He has a year left on his contract, but the 33-year-old missed five games this season due to concussions. In the first 10 games of his rookie season, Okonkwo caught 10 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown. Possibly, but the medical history would seem to be a serious deterrent. • What lies ahead: The assumption is that Henry will be back for the last year of his contract, after rushing 349 times for 1,538 yards and adding a career-high 33 receptions for 398 yards. Would the Titans consider re-signing him for a far lower deal, given the state of the other options available? If the Titans chose to make him a post-June 1 cut, he would cost the Titans $9.6 million in dead-cap money, but would also save the team $27 million against the cap. Burks, the team’s first-round pick last April, flashed potential at times when healthy, catching 33 passes for 444 yards and a touchdown. Haskins needs to show more than he did in limited time as a rookie, when he carried 25 times for 93 yards and caught 11 passes for 57 yards. Hilliard, a pending unrestricted free agent, needs to be re-signed if possible, after totaling 43 touches (runs and receptions) for 322 yards (7.5 yards per touch) and four touchdowns. But keep in mind that Henry’s 4.4-yard average per carry this season tied for 20th among running backs this season and his 4.3-yard average tied for 19th among running backs in 2021.

Division Math Shows How Titans Came up Short (Sports Illustrated)

Mike Vrabel has never had a losing record in AFC South games, but as many wins as losses – as was the case this season – is not good enough.

In five years in charge of Tennessee, Vrabel never has had a losing record against the AFC South. At that same point, Jacksonville was 2-6 overall, 1-2 in the division. It gave Jacksonville a sweep of the season series, left the Titans 3-3 overall against their division opponents and second in the standings. That was the Indianapolis Colts in 2006, when they went 3-3 but 12-4 overall, four games ahead of the second-place Titans, who were 4-2 in the division. At 9-8 overall, they finished two games clear of the Titans (7-10). Had the Titans defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night, they would have finished with a losing record.
