Gervonta 'Tank' Davis Vs. Hector Luis Garcia: Odds, Records ... (Forbes)

Here's everything you need to know about Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia, as they battle for lightweight supremacy.

Here’s more info on the Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Some observers this week have compared Garcia to Isaac Cruz, at least in the way that they both could make life difficult for Davis early in the fight by out-boxing him and frustrating him. You could go with Davis to win by stoppage in rounds 7-12 for +105 or by stoppage in rounds 5-8 at +175. Whether those two big wins show he’s capable of upsetting Davis, well, that’s hard to know (though I wouldn’t bet on it). That would change if he beat Ryan Garcia in April. Davis is a surefire hit at the box office, and he’s proven that he can sell tickets while fighting in his native Baltimore, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn. I was in the same situation going into the [Chris] Colbert fight, but this time I had a real training camp. Davis has been feuding online with Ryan Garcia, and the two are expected to meet in April. He’s undefeated and he’s a great opponent. Whatever narrative that Gervonta “Tank” Davis wanted to bring in to his Saturday night lightweight showdown with Hector Luis Garcia was obliterated last month when Davis was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge of battery. Gervonta Davis scores TKO as Hector Luis Garcia quits before 9th (ESPN)

Gervonta Davis rocked Hector Luis Garcia with a hard left hand at the end of Round 8 and earned a TKO victory when Garcia couldn't come out for the ninth.

Davis was fighting for the first time since a sixth-round TKO victory over Rolly Romero in May. Davis, who denied the allegations, referred to the woman as the mother of his daughter. Davis was accused of fleeing the scene of an accident that involved four people, including a pregnant woman. The action resumed after nearly a minute, and when it did, Davis finally found the fight-ending punch he was looking for. The star boxer connected on a stinging counter right hand and a couple of lefts that caught Garcia's attention in a fast-paced fourth. "I was trying to trick him with my hands and my eyes and things like that because he's a tough fighter.

But the action picked up considerably in Round 4 as the pair of southpaws traded big shots at close range.

Tank Davis Vs. Hector Luis Garcia Scorecards Lopsided In ... (Boxing News 24)

By Adam Baskin: Gervonta 'Tank' Davis was surprisingly WAY ahead on all three of the judges' scorecards at the time of the ninth round stoppage of his.

“At the end of the [eighth] round, Gervonta Davis hit him a couple of times on the side of his head, and when he [Hector Luis Garcia] went back to his corner, he couldn’t see from the right eye. I was catching him with more cleaner shots,” said Gervonta when asked about his thoughts on the wide scores the three judges had for him through the eighth round. ‘I just can’t see from the right eye.’ He was blind by the shots Gervonta gave him in that round in the end. The reality is Hector was out-landing Gervonta, outboxing, and getting the better of him in most of the rounds. Interestingly, Gervonta (28-0, 26 KOs) seemed to be in denial after the fight, saying, “I don’t think it was close.” You hate to think that the ONLY reason that Tank was ahead by such wide scores in a fight that he should have been posting is because of his popularity.
