8 standouts from Packers' 41-17 win over Vikings (Packers Wire)

Following a dominating win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers control their playoff destiny thanks to a Washington Commanders loss earlier in ...

With help from Rasul Douglas, Savage made his way back into the good graces of fans with a pick-six in the first quarter. It was Amos’ first interception of the year after having two in each of his previous three seasons with the Packers. It was a night-and-day performance from the first matchup, in which Rodgers was sacked four times. The ball bounced off the crossbar and through the uprights to give Green Bay a 27-3 lead heading into halftime. Alexander also managed to break up a pass intended for Jefferson and mocked him with a Griddy celebration. The Packers took a different approach in covering the NFL’s leading receiver, as Alexander covered Jefferson on 65% of his routes compared to just 36% in Week 1, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. The Vikings, of course, have already clinched a playoff spot but were in contention for the top seed in the NFC before Sunday’s loss. The return came at a great time to counter a blocked punt by the Vikings to set up a short field goal to go up 3-0. Nixon made sure he scored this time when he burst through the middle of the field, only needing to beat kicker Greg Joseph to get into the clear. Fast forward to Week 17, and the script was completely flipped as Jefferson was stifled for just one catch of 15 yards. Last week, it was Tua Tagovailoa who threw three picks in the second half so Green Bay could secure their seventh win. In Week 1, the Vikings got the best of the Packers 23-7.

Packers Report Card: Grades From Victory Over Vikings (Sports Illustrated)

The Green Bay Packers scored a touchdown in all three phases in routing the Minnesota Vikings. Here is the weekly report card.

In 2010, the Packers were 8-6 and chasing a playoff spot when they destroyed the Giants in the next-to-last game of the season. In 2022, the Packers were 7-8 and chasing a playoff spot when they destroyed the Vikings in the next-to-last game. On third-and-1 in the third quarter, Deguara lined up directly behind and to the right of Aaron Rodgers and led a toss to Jones for 31. Either way, the Packers have done well to get to 8-8 with a chance to reach the playoffs next week. Josiah Deguara had a big block at the point of attack, Patrick Taylor had the final block and Nixon ran past kicker Greg Joseph. With a win in the Super Bowl next month? This marked the first time the Packers had a kickoff-return touchdown and a pick-six in the same game since 1967. Jones on the perimeter is a thing of beauty because tight end Marcedes Lewis is a beast at the point of attack, tight end Josiah Deguara is excellent as the de facto fullback and receivers Allen Lazard and Christian Watson never are shy from the dirty work. The lone deep completion was the 21-yarder to Tonyan, who was open an hour ago, was open now and will be open tomorrow. Sunday was mostly a forgettable performance from the passing game. The defense scored a touchdown on Darnell Savage’s 75-yard pick-six. The special teams scored a touchdown on Keisean Nixon’s 105-yard kickoff return.

Lions-Packers scheduled for Sunday Night Football (detroitlions.com)

The Detroit Lions will be facing the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football this week at Lambeau Field, the NFL announced Monday.

A win Sunday against Detroit and they are in no matter what happens with Seattle because Green Bay owns the tie breaker over the Seahawks by having a better conference record. So the Lions will know if they are playing for a chance to get into the playoffs or are just playing the role of spoiler by the time they kick off Sunday night. The Lions would get into the playoffs if they beat Green Bay and Seattle loses at home to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Lions and Packers will close out the 2022 regular season with a huge matchup.

One of the best to ever play the game and whenever you’ve got that at the quarterback position with that running back and the offensive line. But Campbell acknowledged that this is a different Green Bay team than the one they faced a couple months ago. The game will kick off at 8:20 p.m. The Packers capitalized on that opportunity by winning four in a row, and now Green Bay is in control of their own destiny. [Seattle Seahawks](https://www.fieldgulls.com/) to either lose or tie to the [Los Angeles Rams](https://www.turfshowtimes.com/) prior to kickoff for Detroit’s playoffs hopes to remain. The Lions are one of the hottest teams in the NFL, having won seven of their last nine games.

But now they have a primetime opportunity in Week 18 to show how much better they are, and offer the world a glimpse at their promise for the future. So the Lions will know, barring the aforementioned win and tie, if they have a chance at the NFC’s last Wild Card spot before the 8:20 ET kickoff on Sunday night. There’s another scenario where the Lions would get in–a Packers-Lions tie, a Rams-Seahawks tie and the Washington Commanders beating the Dallas Cowboys in another 4:25 ET game Sunday–but it’s unlikely.

Packers Week 17 Snap Counts: Backups get run late in blowout win ... (Acme Packing Company)

Each member of the foursome — Kenny Clark, Jarran Reed, Devonte Wyatt, and T.J. Slaton — made their impacts felt early and often, and the group had by far its ...

Nixon’s huge day came on his only kickoff return attempt of the game, as he let his only other opportunity go for a touchback. The Packers had planned to use Ramiz Ahmed as their kickoff specialist in this game, but Crosby had to perform those duties after Ahmed suffered a groin injury in warmups. All three of the Packers’ interceptions of Kirk Cousins came from the safety group, with Savage, Amos, and Ford each getting one and Savage taking his back for a 75-yard touchdown. Hollins recorded two hits, including one of the Packers’ two sacks, while Enagbare had two hits of his own on Cousins and Smith had one. McDuffie ended the game with four tackles on his 12 snaps plus a fifth on special teams. Slaton had four total tackles, including a massive TFL on the early goal-line stand, and he broke up two passes at the line of scrimmage, one that got tipped for an interception by Adrian Amos. He had two of the Packers’ three plays of 20-plus yards, that 21-yard score plus a 24-yard gain in the fourth quarter. He caught his only target for four yards, but it is his work in the run game that continues to stand out on film. They then brought on backups in place of Bakhtiari and Jenkins for the final two series when It was a quiet day for the Packers’ passing game in general, but Lazard had a typically-efficient day, catching five of six targets for 59 yards. He finished the day with just one reception for 11 yards on five targets, but seeing him play a mostly-full workload after missing two days of practice was an encouraging sign. One of the big reasons for the Packers’ victory on Sunday afternoon was its defensive line, a group that had just four players active after Dean Lowry was sent to injured reserve this week and Jonathan Ford remained a healthy scratch.

With Playoffs at Stake, It's Packers-Lions on Sunday Night (Sports Illustrated)

There's plenty at stake for the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions for their season-ending showdown at Lambeau Field. The NFL put the game in a featured ...

“I’ve been counted out many times in my life as have many of my teammates, and I hope we just dig deep and find a way,” Rodgers said at the time. “The fact that we came back from 4-8 and put ourselves in the position to make the playoffs is pretty special,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said on Sunday. The Packers lost 15-9 at Detroit in December. The Packers have won four consecutive games to dig their way out of a 4-8 hole and put themselves in position to earn a fourth consecutive playoff berth under coach Matt LaFleur. It’s not so cut and dried for the Lions or Seahawks. “Now, I believe that a lot has happened in our favor and that’s pretty obvious. If the Bills knock off the Bengals, Cincinnati will play Baltimore for the AFC North championship on Sunday. Seattle will host the Los Angeles Rams (5-11) on Sunday afternoon. Will they lose their competitive spirit if they fall behind on a chilly Sunday night? The Packers, Lions and Seattle Seahawks are 8-8 entering Week 18. That would have been a compelling Sunday night game. “I do think the environment in Lambeau Field at nighttime is unlike any other place,” coach Matt LaFleur said on Monday.
