Four observations: Tyrese Haliburton scores 18 in fourth to help ... (The Indianapolis Star)

Tyrese Haliburton scored 18 points in the fourth quarter and Myles Turner scored 34 in the game to help the Pacers beat the Clippers.

The first time he touched the ball, he seemed to take in the boos for a second, then drilled a 3-pointer over the Pacers' Aaron Nesmith, The rest of the game he was by far the Clippers most consistent offensive weapon despite good resistance from Nesmith. He was booed during introductions and most times he touched the ball. He scored 18 points in the fourth to finish with 24 for the game and added 10 assists for a double-double. In the last five games of the calendar year, he made 32 3-pointers. [he was traded to the Thunder in July of 2017](https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nba/pacers/2022/12/31/paul-george-trade-did-the-pacers-win-the-deal/69768857007/) and Friday was no exception. Turner posted on his Twitter account a picture of Michael Jordan speaking in The Last Dance with the caption "...and I took that personally." Haliburton also had 12 points in the fourth quarter on Tuesday to help the Pacers beat the Hawks after hitting a game-winning 3-pointer in a 43-point outing against Miami on Dec. The Pacers were outrebounded 39-36 by the Clippers, and Turner didn't contribute much to the total, but the Pacers actually had more second-chance points than the Clippers with 11 to their eight. 23 and a 33-point outburst in a close win over the Celtics on Dec. In the fourth, however, he finally got some 3s to fall and used those to create space of the bounce. "Eighteen in the fourth, made just about every play you can imagine. Just a few weeks ago, Tyrese Haliburton was lamenting the Pacers' inability to close games.

LA Clippers vs. Indiana Pacers Injury Report Revealed (Sports Illustrated)

That is once again the case for this game, as the team is expected to be fully-healthy aside from the possible absences of Reggie Jackson and Nicolas Batum.

Both players were hobbled in LA’s loss to Boston, and could get a day off in this afternoon affair in Indiana. Having been fully-healthy for just four games all season, the Clippers have been closer to full health over their last several games than they’ve been in a long time. The LA Clippers are taking on the Indiana Pacers this afternoon in their final game of 2022.

Clippers' Paul George has 45 points in loss to the Pacers (Los Angeles Times)

Tyrese Haliburton scores 18 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter to help the Pacers rally to a victory over the Clippers on Saturday afternoon.

George did get a stop on a steal with 2:43 to play and the Clippers leading 120-118 but threw a cross-court pass out of bounds. His aggression against the Pacers was influenced as much by his feeling that the Clippers had been too passive for too long against the Celtics in his previous game as it was a response to the not-so-warm welcome. Batum’s absence Saturday — his first missed game this season, breaking his goal of playing all 82 — led Robert Covington to play in the first quarter for the first time since Dec. It was the second consecutive game Lue used lineups without a center for extended stretches during the second half. Then it was Leonard’s turn, scoring 17 of his 24 points in the third quarter, to go with three of his seven assists. “We just got to figure it out and continue to one, hold ourselves and everybody accountable, and put the effort in.”

One particular stretch in the final minutes, when he went shot-for-shot with George and scored 12 consecutive points for the Pacers, was a showcase for Haliburton's offensive gifts. Game Rewind: Pacers vs Clippers (Pacers.com)

With the Pacers' final game of 2022 on the line, Tyrese Haliburton took it upon himself in crunch time. Indiana's 22-year-old point guard scored 13 of the ...

His 45 points also matched his most ever in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, as he also had 45 for the Pacers in a 115-111 loss to Oklahoma City on March 19, 2016. We struggled to close games earlier in the year and I think you need that, I think a young group needs that to kind of grow the right way. He went 5-for-6 from the field, 2-for-2 from 3-point range, and 6-for-7 from the free throw line over the final frame and scored 13 of Indiana's final 15 points. Down the stretch, he's making big shots and he's figuring out when to take them and when to get to the rim or get someone the ball. Nesmith answered with a three of his own on the other end before George responded with another three to tie the game once again at the 3:54 mark. George's 45 points were a season high and his most in a game since he had 46 in a win at Minnesota on Dec. The Clippers opened up a four-point lead following a George layup and Kennard three. McConnell put Indiana in front early in the fourth quarter, jumping a passing lane and racing down for an easy layup. The Clippers were forced to foul, electing to send Turner to the line with 13 seconds to play. Haliburton raced right back down the court and got to the rim, tying the game at 123 as the clock ticked under two minutes. The Clippers had successfully rallied from a double-digit deficit and led 116-110 with 5:27 remaining in Saturday's contest. "Just looking for my shot and they were coming over and fouling me, allowing me to get to the free throw line."

… After being outrebounded 62-39 in their 114-100 loss to the Clippers on Nov. The Pacers traded George to Oklahoma City in 2017 after he informed them that he planned to leave once he was eligible for free agency in 2018. Turner hit two free throws to restore a three-point advantage for the Pacers, who have won five of their last six. Clippers: The 32-year-old George, who played for Indiana the first seven seasons of his career, was booed lustily in pregame introductions. Turner’s hook shot early in the third quarter sent the Pacers ahead by 14, the largest advantage by either side. “We had to put together a monster game to beat them, and we did,” Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said.

Media outlets continue to overlook the LA Clippers' superstar duo (Clipperholics)

Although the LA Clippers have been on a roll, the superstar duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George continues to be underappreciated.

Especially in the playoffs, these rankings will be laughable once Lue and the Clippers find themselves in a position the franchise has never seen before. This is one of the main motives to the LA Clippers having one of the top defenses in the league. In addition to their impact, the level of experience and accomplishments they possess should automatically have them among the league’s most talented stars. Although George made it to the 13th spot, Leonard was nowhere to be found. Despite their contributions, media outlets constantly overlook what these two bring to the table. In Leonard’s case, he has found his rhythm as he has been the Clippers’ most valuable player.

Clippers vs. Pacers Recap: LA Falls in Fireworks Display ... (213 Hoops)

The LA Clippers had their chances but came up short in a shootout against the Indiana Pacers Saturday afternoon, 131-130.

With six points, seven rebounds and zero blocks in 27 minutes, it was a tough game for Zu, but it was good to see Lue still close with him down the stretch. - Cool Hand Stays Cold: With two made 3s, three assists and extended time in the fourth, Luke Kennard was able to show some sense of life, but was kept in check overall. George and Turner went on to match each other at the line with pairs of clutch free throws before Kawhi’s go-ahead, 30-foot 3-pointer to tie the game proved to be a bit too strong. Up Next: The Clippers head home to host the Miami Heat at Crypto.com Arena on Monday, Jan. - Odd Mann Out?: With Nicolas Batum out with an ankle sprain, it appears Lue decided to split his freed-up minutes right down the middle and give them to Robert Covington and Terance Mann. Haliburton went on to force the issue again, drawing a foul on PG to put Indiana up three with 29 seconds left. [Lue said](https://twitter.com/AndrewGreif/status/1609258266369851395?s=20)that during the road trip, Kawhi has been playing the number of minutes that’s allowed him to unleash his ideal staggering pattern for him and PG. Reggie Jackson then subbed in for Wall, and meshed seamlessly with the George-led unit, helping to give the Clips their largest lead of the game: up six with 5:27 left. Unfortunately, it appeared the gamble quickly began to backfire with Turner and Haliburton relentlessly targeting Luke and Reggie to get to the line or finish right through them. With it being a one-possession game with 3:47 left, Ty Lue revealed he was going to close with the starters. All the while, Luke Kennard still seemed to be in a funk, going 0-3 from deep in the half. “You reach, I teach” was the motto for LA in the third as the Clippers made the Pacers pay with numerous energizing and-1 finishes.

Clippers vs. Pacers Final Score: Three takeaways from New Year's ... (Clips Nation)

Despite a huge effort from Paul George, the Los Angeles Clippers fell 131-130 to the Indiana Pacers to round off a roller coaster 2022 for the franchise. By ...

Way too much negativity going on with the Clippers discourse. Young teams like the Pacers don’t need any encouragement to get their energy up and get their fans on side, and yet the Clippers have put themselves in a similar hole too frequently this season. The Clippers closed out 2022 with a loss, but in a way, that sums up what has been a roller coaster year for the franchise. Let’s not leave this on a negative note for the year. George was the hot hand on his return to Indiana, and the Clippers were right to keep giving him the ball. He ended the game with 45 points on 15-for-25 from the field including 7-for-13 from deep, plus 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals to boot.

Clippers takeaways: Kawhi Leonard rounding into form (Los Angeles Times)

The halfway point of a Clippers season arrives Friday. Five takeaways from the five-game road trip, from Kawhi Leonard's play to small-ball problems.

An 11-point halftime deficit in Boston on Thursday was erased during a third quarter that saw the Clippers make seven of their 11 three-pointers, the most they’ve made in any quarter after halftime this season. Just as against Boston, it also opened the Clippers up to Indiana attacking inside, with the Pacers shooting nine for 11 in the paint in the final quarter. “It means I’m doing a great job of either getting to my spots or making plays for my teammates.” And then offensively how we want to play, how we want to attack?” “We haven’t been together long enough to say this is how we want to play, this is who we want to be,” Lue said. They have also played only 14 games with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the lineup, the franchise pillars on whose shoulders the Clippers’ championship hopes rest.

“So, like OK, I have to open, catch and shoot the ball. After coming off the bench in his first three games, he moved into the starting lineup and a star was in the making. He is happy with his bench role on the star-studded Clippers, happy to be in Los Angeles, happy to still be contributing to a playoff contender at age 34. Batum is particularly proud of his work ethic and was looking to play in all 82 games this season. Daily sessions of weightlifting, gym workouts and practices keep him in “good shape,” he said. After posting career seasons in points, injuries and a dwindling role in the Hornets’ youth movement eventually led the team to waive him in 2020.
