The week rounds out in the North as the Suns head north of the border to play the 14-18 Toronto Raptors. But we’re on the right path, we have the right assets to get us there (considering we have a Jae Crowder contract to trade and all of our draft picks). From FedEx Forum to the city that houses FedEx Field (home of the Washington Commanders), the Suns play the following night against the Washington Wizards. It was the first time in franchise history that a member of the Suns hit nine bombs...and lost. Memphis is playing well, and add to the fact that their roster is healthy, and they are a dangerous team. [Memphis Grizzlies](https://www.grizzlybearblues.com) came to town and smacked the Suns in the mouth and on the boards. “Everybody got to see us intensified in the moment. But due to the efforts of the bench, most notably Landry Shamet and Damion Lee, the team fought and maintained a 10-point lead for much of the game. There was no need to check whether or not Landry was outside of the restricted area. Because, “they were checking to see if Landry Shamet was outside of the restricted area”. They circle Phoenix on the schedule and look forward to an opportunity to beat a team that thoroughly defeated them last year. Phoenix had fallen down by as many as 17 points in the game, but rallied back with a flurry of three’s.

The Phoenix reserves have not been immune to injury either, with both backup point guards – Cameron Payne and Duane Washington Jr. The Phoenix Suns started the season well and were carried by outstanding individual contributions in November. When the season started, we knew there would be at least a few games lost to injury.

"Big picture, the Suns are now 1-5 without Booker (counting the Christmas game), with the one win having come against the Lakers without either LeBron James or Anthony Davis. "The Phoenix Suns were the most reliable clutch team in the NBA last season, and that really hasn’t happened yet. Phoenix welcomed back Devin Booker from a groin injury that kept him out for three games - only to see him re-injure himself after just four minutes of play.

His teammates and coaches rely on him to protect the rim with confidence. It’s also noticeable that he tends to get lost on the court. Despite his age, he can still contribute big time to the team going forward too. The Suns are not a big market team, but they are one of the few contending teams that could benefit well if they trade for the 27-year-old. Following that, he sustained a heel injury that cost him 14 games on the sidelines. He’s still not consistently shooting the ball and has had five games where she shoots poorly, especially from downtown. As the New Year is slowly approaching, some things need fixing to help the Suns’ season. He’s still with the team, occupying a roster spot that could be beneficial if they had a different player. Devin Booker tried to play but went straight to the locker room after the first four minutes of the first period. Landry Shamet led with 31 points off the bench. The Suns have had a rough patch, which is why some things need to change in order for them to get back on the winning track. Booker hasn’t fully recovered from the groin injury that had cost him to miss the last three games.
Bridges is a key cog on a team that has made a trip to the NBA Finals and won 64 games. You have to have connective tissue to do that, and Mikal is that piece.
Together, he and Booker can win the day. There’s plenty of time left in the season, and we know that many more opportunities for Phoenix in these exact situations exist. Go to the shooting range, if you will. Note that this team isn’t great in the clutch either. In the long run, this experience that they’re gaining may ultimately benefit the team. In the short term, however, it’s painful to watch. The team was down nine points when Devin departed for the locker room, but behind Mikal Bridges’ 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in the first quarter, Phoenix closed the Denver lead to four points. The Suns are 1-4 in those games. And while the injuries have mounted for the Suns, some of the burden is falling on his narrow shoulders. Knowing you’re on the road, playing the opening game of a six-game road trip, and losing your best player isn’t a good way to start. He’s third on the team in scoring at 15.7 points and he’s shooting 39.2% from deep. In a game that went to overtime, Mikal Bridges ended with 13 total points.

It was the game of the century and a showdown to see who would be the team of the decade in the 1970’s. The Packers crushed the Giants in their next-to-last game and eked out a victory over the Bears in the finale to set the stage for their run to the championship. To be in the conversation for the playoffs with two games to go is a testament to coach Matt LaFleur, the team’s leadership and the talent on the roster. The Mets had jumped in to agree to terms with Correa on a 12-year, $315M contract — pending the physical — within a day of the Giants pulling out of a 13-year, $350M pact after their doctors reportedly took issue with something in the All-Star’s right leg. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the NFL admitted to the Commanders that pass interference should have been called. Cohen and the Mets then swooped in and agreed to a 12-year, $315 million deal with Correa. Not running the ball on 4th-and-1 against the Colts in Week 5 In a 12-9 overtime loss against the Colts, Hackett had Russell Wilson throw on a 4th-and-1 from the Colts' 5-yard line instead of running the ball. When he said "someone has to win this game" and proceeded to lose in overtime to the Raiders. The ending to the Seattle game In a Week 1 17-16 loss to Seattle, Hackett opted for a 64-yard field goal attempt on the road instead of being aggressive and driving the ball downfield. He is such a part of that team and the culture, everything he went through with the injuries, and just his whole laid-back attitude and approach. “You know, he grew up with his dad as a player, mostly for the Lakers, so they’re a team he could look to leave for. Hints of it have emerged on the sideline before, but Sunday was the most obvious manifestation of it and played a significant role in Hackett’s dismissal a day later.
