The Packers will have a close eye on the health of WR Watson, returner/CB Keisean Nixon and OL Yosh Nijman leading up to Sunday's game.

[Rasul Douglas](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/rasul-douglas-c4n6Sm4vt7wecXgN/) said of Nixon, who had a 93-yard kick return to the Dolphins’ 9-yard line Sunday. He has played 100 percent of the offensive snaps in 10 games this season, including the previous eight before the shoulder injury limited him to only 18 offensive snaps (27 percent) against the Dolphins. [Darnell Savage](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/darnell-savage-YNOny1J1fd4kJnLc/) came in and did what he was supposed to do.” Nixon returned just one kick through the first seven games of the season, but he now ranks first in the league in total kick return yards (825) with 46 more than anyone else. Nixon’s absence had ripple effects on the defense, namely affording safety [Innis Gaines](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/innis-gaines-ieo97HTv4xqTKIqh/) reps in the slot, but his loss is undoubtedly felt most on special teams. He also ranks first in yards per kick return (27.5), more than half a yard greater than the second-place average. Nixon has become known for his fearlessness as a returner, a role he has thrived in that has featured him taking kicks out from the end zone. To give themselves the best chance at completing a miraculous turnaround to reach the postseason, the Packers wouldn’t mind getting back their most dangerous wide receiver, perhaps the best kick returner in the [NFL](https://theathletic.com/nfl/) and Aaron Rodgers’ stalwart strong-side protector. Without Watson, the Packers lack their most lethal vertical threat, someone who has proved capable of much more than just taking the top off a defense; he’s a capable blocker and perhaps the fastest player in any game that doesn’t also feature Dolphins wideout After catching 10 passes for 88 yards and running three times for 19 yards and a touchdown in the season’s first nine games — Watson missed three full games and chunks of three others in that stretch — the second-round pick scored eight touchdowns in four games from weeks 10 through 13. His biggest imprint came as a blocker, though, when he paved the way for running back Aaron Jones’ touchdown scamper that gave the Packers a 23-6 lead late in the third quarter.
