Green Bay Packers hold off flailing LA Rams to keep playoff hopes ... (The Guardian)

Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Aaron Jones and the Packers kept their playoff hopes afloat with a 24-12 victory over the Rams on Monday night.

Rodgers’ seven-yard touchdown pass to Jones put the Packers ahead 24-6. Mayfield wasn’t as effective Monday, going 12 of 21 for 111 yards with a touchdown and interception. Dillon then put Green Bay ahead for good with an 8-yard touchdown run in which he pushed Rams defenders backward for the last yard or so. Rodgers went 22 of 30 for 229 yards with a touchdown and interception to win his ninth straight Monday Night Football start. Dillon put Green Bay (6-8) ahead for good with a tiebreaking eight-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and also scored from one yard out in the third period. The Rams (4-10) have matched the highest loss total by any defending Super Bowl champions.

Green Bay Packers inactives list vs. the Rams: What to Know (Dairyland Express)

With no practice squad elevations made this week, the inactives included Shemar Jean-Charles, David Bakhtiari, Caleb Jones, Krys Barnes, and Jonathan Ford.

Prior to his injury in Philadelphia, Savage was relegated to dime duties, as Rudy Ford took over at safety next to Adrian Amos in Green Bay’s base nickel defense, along with Keisean Nixon playing in the slot. Donald has been one of the most productive interior pass rushers in football once again, and as a unit, the Rams defense has been one of the best against the run–although they struggled last week against Las Vegas in that capacity without Donald. Amos was flagged for defensive pass interference on a deep ball to Atwell, moving the ball to the Green Bay 41. The Packers went for it on fourth-and-2 from the LA 4 and Jones powered through for a 3-yard gain on first down. After a timeout, Doubs caught a 23-yard pass over the middle to the LA 49. The Rams were flagged for a facemask penalty after the fumble occurred, moving the beginning of their possession back to the LA 15 with 10:55 left in regulation. Green Bay chose to go for it on fourth-and-3 from the LA 17 following a 6-yard pass to Cobb, with Dillon picking up the first down on a draw. The fourth quarter began with Watson drawing a 16-yard penalty for defensive pass interference on Troy Hill. A 17-yard pass to Dillon and 14-yard pass to Cobb moved Green Bay to the Rams' 24. The Rams charged back, beginning with a 18-yard pass to Brandon Powell. Dillon then plowed in for an 8-yard touchdown to put the Packers back up, 10-3, with 4:26 left in the first half. While a Mayfield 15-yard pass to Van Jefferson converted the first down, the Rams would have to settle for a 55-yard field goal by Gay after three consecutive incompletions. Green Bay stopped the Rams on their next third down, though, with a [Preston Smith](/team/players-roster/preston-smith/) sack for a loss of eight yards. Another 11-yard pass to Doubs across the middle moved the ball to the LA 18.

NFL Research: With Monday night's loss, the Rams were officially eliminated from postseason contention, matching the 1999 Denver Broncos for the most remaining weeks when eliminated as a defending Super Bowl champion. This needs to be a building block for the Packers, not a bright spot in a season that ends up drifting toward disappointment. Green Bay realistically can't afford to lose another game if it wants to sprint into the postseason, and it certainly didn't flirt with falling Monday night. [Baker Mayfield](https://www.nfl.com/players/baker-mayfield/), sacking him five times and forcing an interception via pressure and a deflection. It's obviously too late to matter much, but after spending much of this season wondering what happened to the Rams' running game (a problem that first surfaced in the 2021 postseason), Los Angeles is finally finding some decent footing with Akers. This has happened after Akers stepped away from the team ahead of the trade deadline in a situation that appeared headed for a divorce. [Cam Akers](https://www.nfl.com/players/cam-akers/)is finally starting to find his groove. It's tough to blame Mayfield for any struggles, considering he's been with the Rams for less than two weeks, and Monday night exposed what we've long known about Los Angeles in 2022: Its offensive line is in shambles. He completed three-plus passes to five different teammates, and the distribution balanced Green Bay's attack well enough to overcome pressure applied by [Leonard Floyd](https://www.nfl.com/players/leonard-floyd/)and put 24 points on the board on a frigid night at Lambeau Field. Those numbers didn't hold true against the Rams, though, thanks in large part to the Packers' ability to get after

The Good, Bad And Ugly From The Green Bay Packers' Win Over ... (Forbes)

Keisean Nixon gave the Green Bay Packers' return game a jolt Monday in their 24-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Green Bay has played 34 games since then, and Bakhtiari has played in just nine of those (26.4%). Packers standout Rashan Gary suffered a torn ACL, though, in Week 9, and Enagbare has played 180 snaps in the last four games. DILLON: When the weather turns nasty, the Packers have leaned more and more on Dillon. But it’s just the latest chapter in Bakhtiari’s bad luck story. Dillon ran for a pair of touchdowns Monday and now has four TDs in his last three games. “Throwing the football has been an advantage for us in the weather as well. “I think anytime the weather gets cold and the field gets cold, naturally guys don’t move maybe at the same speed,” Rodgers said. everybody’s goal should be the same at the end of it, so I think we’ve got a long way to go and certainly you just take it one day at a time, one game at a time.” Green Bay’s win Monday gave LaFleur a 16-1 record in regular season games played in December and January. So while the odds of Green Bay experiencing postseason football remain long, there’s still a chance. The Packers won consecutive games for the first time since Week 4, improved to 6-8 and kept their hopes for the postseason alive. Green Bay maintained its hold on the No.

Los Angeles Rams vs Green Bay Packers live online: stats, scores ... (AS English)

The Green Bay Packers come off of their Week 14 bye with their playoff chances intact, but they need a win tonight against the Los Angeles Rams at Lambeau.

Rodgers’ numbers weren’t fantastic, going 18/31 for 182 yards and a touchdown but he led a fourth quarter comeback over their division rivals in the Windy City. Mayfield led two TD drives in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to sweep the win from under the feet of the Raiders and give LA fans a glimpse what could be to come in the future. He didn’t get the start, but made his LA debut on the second series and looked like he had been a part of Sean McVay’s offense for years. It’s going to be a chilly one in Green Bay, but by now Aaron Rodgers and the Packers know how to handle the cold. That's where Aaron Rodgers and the Pack will start their first drive. There is still time for Rodgers to move the ball down the field and look for a quick score before half. He was chased out of Cleveland despite playing injured and taking them to the playoffs in 2020. A flag flew in the end zone and the Rams are penalized for illegal contact on Ramsey. Jones gets 3 yards and picks up the first down. Rodgers and the Packers offense took a little while to gets off the ground in the Frozen Tundra. The first TD drive took almost half of the third quarter, and AJ Dillon got his second touchdown on a one yard run into the end zone to extend the lead to 17-6. It was below freezing all night long in Green Bay, and the Rams offense never got hot in Mayfield’s second game under center for LA.

But that Rams possession ended with Mayfield throwing an interception on third down, and the Packers taking over at the Rams 34. That being said, it's still tough to win in the league, and I said it earlier, I think we can beat anybody. But the competition ramps up with a Christmas Day game

Can Aaron Rodgers Save His Season by Saving Packers' Season? (CalBearsMaven)

Former Cal star still has a shot to get to the playoffs despite all that has gone wrong.

. . But . Would it be reason enough to convince Rodgers to return for another season, which would end when he is 40 years old? Should Rodgers take a hint from Tittle's decision and hang it up? He retired after that 1964 season. Tittle was the MVP in 1963, when he led the Giants to an 11-2 record at the age of 37. But Rodgers turned 39 earlier this month, and would be 40 before the 2023 season ends. And his 92.2 passer rating in Monday’s game (22-for-30, 229 yards, one touchdown, one interception) won’t change that appreciably. Rodgers’ passer rating of 92.4 for the season coming into Monday’s game was the worst of his career since he became a starter in 2008. However, at least the discussion has changed. The Packers now are 1½ games behind Washington, which currently holds the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC with its 7-6-1 record. But their chances are better than they were two weeks ago when the Packers were 4-8 and not even in the postseason discussion.

Have the Green Bay Packers fixed their offense? (Deadspin)

Can the unproven wide receivers — who weren't drafted in the first round — help guide Aaron Rodgers and the team to a title in the near future?

The rookie wideouts appear to be the best in their position group, and also legitimate playmakers. Expecting these two rookies to be Rodgers’ main targets in the twilight of his career is a tall task. Against the Rams, Doubs returned from injury, and for the first time, both wide receivers would get to run out of the same huddle while displaying significant comfort in the offense. It wasn’t the Packers’ intent to lose Davante Adams after making Aaron Rodgers the highest-paid player in the NFL. At two games under .500, the chances for an appearance in the second season are slim. The Packers currently have the sixth-best record among the NFC wild card teams, and their next game is in Miami against the Dolphins.
