Barkley had a number of key runs in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 87 yards on the ground and a touchdown. He showed what he’s capable of doing and the future is really bright for him.” He showed his leadership qualities, showed the type of person he is and it’s every single day. First, Terry McLaurin was called for illegal formation that whipped away a touchdown and it looked as though the Washington receiver had checked in with one of the officials to confirm he was lined up correctly. Thibodeaux finished the night with 12 tackles, three for a loss, a strip sack and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. While Brian Daboll tried to downplay the importance of the game in the lead-up, the Giants’ victory was a significant one.

The Commanders got robbed by the refs twice on final drive vs. Giants (SB Nation)

The Washington Commanders and New York Giants played a pivotal game with major playoff implications on Sunday Night Football in Week 15.

Meanwhile, the Commanders fall to 7-6-1 and now have a 35 percent chance to make the playoffs after the loss. I checked to see if I was good the first time and he was like, ‘Move up a little bit.’ So when I moved up, I checked to see if I was good, and he said I was good. Here’s what the officials said on the no-call for pass interference. Washington head coach Ron Rivera was not happy with the officials after the game, but didn’t want to get fined for criticizing them. Terry McLaurin looks at the ref asking if he’s good - ref points back at McLaurin as of to indicate he’s good. The ball was moved back five yards, and the pass interference no-call happened on the next play. Here’s the quote, Commanders QB Taylor Heinicke threw the ball into the end zone for Curtis Samuel, but the Giants broke up the pass to secure the win. Watch the video here: The margins for one of those teams was going to get much slimmer after a loss, and a controversial ending has Washington feeling like the referees took a win right out of their hands. Watch the play here: The NFC East rivals are each looking up at the Eagles and Cowboys in the division, but if the season ended today, both the Giants and Commanders would qualify for the playoffs.

NFL referees under fire after controversial weekend, capped by ... (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

It's not easy to be an NFL referee. With just seconds remaining in Sunday's Washington Commanders-New York Giants game, Commanders running back Brian ...

The second was late in the fourth quarter. “To the officials it didn’t rise to what they felt was a restriction, thus they didn’t call it,” Hussey said in a pool report. “I checked to see if I was good the first time, and he was like, ‘Move up a little bit,’” McLaurin told reporters after the game. The Raiders tied the game a few minutes earlier on a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr to wide receiver Keelan Cole. It’s a judgment call and they didn’t believe it was pass interference.” “It’s clearly a foul,” NBC rules analyst and former NFL referee Terry McAulay said on Sunday Night Football.

Giants report card: How we graded Big Blue in Week 15 win (Giants Wire)

The New York Giants defeated the Washington Commanders, 20-12, in Week 15 and the Giants Wire team grades reflect that performance.

Daboll’s in-game management definitely could use some work as he needs to improve on managing the clock and made a fourth-down call that looks great in hindsight but was definitely very questionable at the moment. The rest of the Giants’ defense was also getting pressure on Taylor Heinicke as he was sacked a total of three times and hit eight. This showed the heart of this defense as it hopes to continue its season by a week. The fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft had a night as he recorded 12 tackles and three tackles for a loss to go along with his strip sack touchdown. Daniel Jones was not sacked once in this game compared to four times last game which allowed New York to put together long drives that drained the clock and the Washington defense. Jones also passed for only 160 yards on 32 attempts in this match as he failed to really open up this game through the air.

So, I kept a little bit of the goatee on there (to) cover up some of the other parts. "Not really sure that really makes the difference but change it up. "The officials have a tough job to do. Again, just to the question, I think it's important to see players put a lot of work and effort into it and get the results that they're hoping for. It's awesome (that) they have the trust to send me out there in the cold and against the wind. "We haven't had a chance to sit down and discuss those things, but certainly that topic – probably amongst a bunch of other ones like they do each week – come up. We've got a big game next week, but we are going to enjoy this and analyze what we did right and what we did wrong and correct things." "I think this is a big game, on the road, against a division opponent. And I'd say that there are a lot of guys that contributed to the outcome of the game, made some good plays in critical times. There wasn't a whole lot of – there was a lot of sleeping. "I'll just say what it means for the game: It gives you an opportunity to be successful in the game when your best players are playing well," Daboll said. Gotta take it one day at a time to win games."

Giants defensive adjustment pays off in Week 15 win over ... (amNY)

The New York Giants came into Week 15 on the shoulders of their worse defeat of the season and four straight weeks without a victory.

He made key stops on third and short that ended up contributing to the Giants’ next offensive drive – a touchdown for the lead. New York’s playoff hopes improved to over 90% with the win on Sunday night. We haven’t had a chance to sit down and discuss those things, but certainly, that topic – We’ll talk about it.” head coach Brian Daboll said Monday. On paper, the Giants’ defense wasn’t anything special. An inability to stop the run had been the team’s biggest problem. Landon Collins has familiarity as both a Commander and Giant.

Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux Fulfilling Draft Expectations (NYGiantsmaven)

The fifth-overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft is starting to round into the player the Giants hoped to be getting.

For me, I had to say it and believe it, and I was able to do it. I think we were able to execute, and everybody was able to make plays." "It exudes out of how we play. “I was in coverage right there. That 1-yard saved was extremely important, as the Giants defense stood strong and prevented Washington from scoring. An underrated play by Thibodeaux came on the Commanders’ final drive. The former Oregon star suffered a preseason knee injury that forced him to miss the first two games of the regular season. And sometimes, it can take an entire season for a rookie to feel at home. She said it was in her heart to tell me that you can do anything you put your mind to. But with each passing week, Thibodeauz's impact on the games became more evident. It showed in his production. Rookies often have to get used to the game's speed, which many say can take several weeks.

What we learned from Giants' 20-12 win over Commanders (Giants Wire)

Bravo, gentleman. How about that Kayvon Thibodeaux? Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports. Giants rookie outside linebacker ...

If a flag was dropped, it would have given Washington a first-and-goal on the one with 48 seconds remaining. That play that he made down there when they were backed up kind of changed the tide a little bit in the early part of the game. Their offense did not do all of the scoring on Sunday night, however. We will kind of slow the roll on that one,” he said. That includes the game’s final competitive play where Giants’ defensive back Darnay Holmes was draped all over Commanders wideout Curtis Samuel in the end zone. He is a very talented player and he played like it,” he said. It was their longest scoring drive in eight seasons. They are averaging 20.5 points per game and allowing 22.3. “I think he has consistently improved throughout the year. Yes, the officials gave the Giants a lot of latitude in this one, looking the other way on plays that could have drawn flags. “I’m glad he is a part of the team. I think he has gotten better each week.

Giants coach Brian Daboll debuts new goatee (ESPN)

The New York Giants' coach shaved part of his trademark beard ahead of his team's primetime game -- and it paid off.

There's a lot of skin underneath that beard, but so be it." Really, he has no choice but to keep the goatee. He has no choice but to displease his wife and kids, for the betterment of his football team. "Unfortunately for everybody else. There's a lot of parts." Daboll gave him a bro-hug and told him he was proud and DJ did a great job.— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan)

Defense comes up big as Giants notch 20-12 win over Commanders (Giants.com)

The Giants are now firmly in control of its postseason destiny as Sunday night's win brought their record to 8-5-1 on the season.

I wish I got into that groove a little earlier, but I guess I caught fire at the right time. "Being (my) biggest critic, I really wish I found a way to end the game by putting it in the box or finishing the drive with the ball in our hands. "I thought everybody contributed to the win. And (they) had their look in their eyes, so I knew what kind of drive it was going to be. And from there, I had to keep my eyes on the man and once the ball was in the air, make a play on the ball." I have a line that goes to defense. I have a line that goes to offense. "They're really two guys that I lean on a lot during the week in terms of management, clock management, fourth-down decisions, overtime decisions," Daboll said. And I have a line that goes to special teams. And they spend a lot of time on it. But it seemed they would come out of it with just three points when they faced a fourth-and-nine at the Commanders' 35-yard line. I'm not the type of guy that's going to ride this wave.

Giants' playoff hopes are brighter after win over Commanders (The San Diego Union-Tribune)

The New York Giants' dreams of making the playoffs for the first time since 2016 are very much alive after weeks of concern they were letting the season ...

Daboll said the Giants seemed to come out of the game in good shape. He dominated the game, highlighted by a second-quarter strip-sack and recovery for a touchdown that changed the flow of the game. It’s probably why practice squad veteran Landon Collins got a lot of time playing in the box later in the game. A home game against Indianapolis (4-9-1) is scheduled for New Year’s Day before a finale at Philadelphia against the NFC-leading Eagles (13-1). Washington gained 159 yards rushing and a lot of that yardage came on plays where the runner carried the linebackers and secondary personnel an extra five yards. “We all know everybody in this business puts a lot of time, effort and energy into trying to get the outcome that we hope for. Of course, things might look darker in a week if the Giants lose and everyone else wins. There are three overall scenarios involving four teams for the Giants to get a ticket to the postseason. “That’s what you got to be,” Daboll said after the win. Ojulari and Lawrence each had a half-sack and a forced fumble and combined for five quarterback hits. On the train ride back from Washington, Daboll met with his captains, trainers, sports science group, coaching staffs and coordinators to get ready for a short week. “Every time you win a game, that’s part of the joy of being a coach — seeing the players in the locker room with a smile on their face, seeing the coaches,” Daboll said Monday.
