Their success has had to do with a high-octane offense behind Lauri Markkanen, Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton. The Bucks bounce back home to play the Utah Jazz at 7 p.m. Seems every year Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo hits the free throw wall.
The Memphis Grizzlies extended their season-high winning streak to seven games with a dominant victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Planning on shutting out an NBA all-star is why Brooks is becoming one of the main pieces to a successful season. and Brooks each to below 50% shooting in the first half, but what followed was one of the best performances by the Grizzlies bench this season. The Grizzlies have won both meetings this season. The energy of Brooks was noticeable throughout the game. Middleton shot one of 12 and scored three points. [ got tangled up in the first quarter. The Milwaukee offense starts with Antetokounmpo, and the Grizzlies did a good job of making every shot tough for the 6-foot-11 forward. With Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton, they're still one of the NBA's top teams. If there’s a silver lining in all of this, it’s that the Bucks are relying on isolation basketball less than ever before. Of the 58 players who average at least two isolation possessions per game this season, Holiday ranks dead last in points per possession at 0.43. He relies on his strength and a bevy of step-back and side-steps to create just enough space to fire his jumper. Dating back to the 2015-16 season, when the NBA first began tracking this data, there have been 351 players (including duplicates from year to year) to rack up at least two isolation plays per game: Holiday ranks 351st in points per possession. That’s a far cry from their seventh-ranked isolation offense in 2021-22, but is, unfortunately, in line with their slumping offense through the first quarter of this season. That’s a good thing considering how awful the Bucks have been in those scenarios through the first quarter of the season.

After the Warriors fell 128-111, the Bucks issued a statement, saying, in part, that the removal of fans was under the referees’ discretion. About a minute later, when the play stopped, Green led security across the court and had Shane escorted out of the arena by security. The spectator refuted Green’s accusation that he threatened his life.

But equally bad was the play on the other side of the floor, where they allowed a season-high 142 points, with the Grizzlies shooting 54.9% from the floor (56-102). Memphis came out hot and left Milwaukee behind from the get-go, winning the first quarter 33-18 and finishing the half with a massive 70-41 lead. If Memphis does eventually run the West this year, their win over the Milwaukee Bucks, 142-101, on Thursday night will be remembered as their first warning shot ...
all get on the floor at the same time, Memphis really might have the right mix to run to the [NBA Finals](https://www.sbnation.com/nba-finals). The Grizzlies just never stop having fun. With the game in hand late in the fourth quarter, cameras caught the Grizzlies bench standing up and doing the wave alongside the crowd. [This win moved them into first place in the Western Conference at 19-9 overall](https://www.espn.com/nba/standings). With the Warriors seemingly falling off this year, the West feels wide open, and the Grizzlies may be poised to seize it. The Grizzlies smacked the Bucks from the opening tip, and took a 29-point lead into halftime.
It might have been a pretty standard offensive performance but last night was the ultimate Dillon Brooks game. Brooks is recognized as the tone-setter for this ...
The Grizzlies have something special brewing and when a team is this in sync, they are hard to beat. In a game where he was skyrocketing up and down the floor and passing into tight windows, it is pretty spectacular he recorded 10 assists while only giving up the ball once. Brooks shadowed him for much of the night and held Middleton to 1-12 from the field and 1-8 from three. At this point, the game was so out of hand the wave broke out in FedEx Forum and the Grizzlies joined in. The Grizzlies scored 86 points in the paint to the Bucks’ 38. Last night, the Grizzlies put the league on notice. Brooks’s energy and pace sparked many of the team’s runs and some of his fast break drives and leak-out passes gave the Grizzlies some serious momentum. The top seed in the Western Conference played like it last night and they did this all without their second-leading scorer. Memphis led 33-18 at the end of the first quarter and the team had already set the tone for the game. The period was full of highlight plays as the Grizzlies moved with pace to build on their first-half lead. Memphis led wire-to-wire and led by as much as 50 against the Bucks, ultimately winning 142-101. That was reminiscent of the Grizzlies' violent beatdown of the eventual NBA Champions in last year’s playoffs.
Battered on the boards and lost in transition, the Bucks suffered their second-worst defeat of the Mike Budenholzer era.
The transition, they shoot a lot of 3s, they track down long rebounds, so it’s another area where they’re very good and you got to be aware of it and you gotta be prepared for it and they just outplayed us in — really every facet of the game — but including the offensive glass versus defensive boards, so credit to them.” I think he’s one of the best in the league at that and he’s able to help his team do that and affect the games by doing that.” [Jevon Carter](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/jevon-carter-cy4yJqI1e9ufFS4R/) were already behind the 3-point line and in the middle of the floor. That pass didn’t connect, but ultimately Roddy found the loose ball and scored on a second-chance opportunity. As Morant drove to the lane, Adams sealed Portis off for an offensive rebound before Morant even shot the basketball, which ended up giving Morant a driving lane. Carter made his way toward his assignment, [Ja Morant](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/ja-morant-O9seJiOia3fxGmjz/), running up the left wing, but that doesn’t excuse the effort from the rest of the Bucks. Getting beat in transition following a missed free throw is just not acceptable, especially when the scouting report clearly shows a team’s desire to get out in transition. [Giannis Antetokounmpo](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/giannis-antetokounmpo-FV8e23LS5qDkPy4W/) put up 19 points, six rebounds and five assists in 25 minutes and [Bobby Portis](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/bobby-portis-y6uKsZa2dAJoQtlM/) tallied 19 points and seven rebounds, but overall the [Bucks](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/bucks/) played poorly on both sides of the ball. The Bucks knew this coming into the game and yet didn’t get back in transition with the urgency needed to slow down the Grizzlies. “You have to be really focused, you have to be really committed to sprint in transition,” Budenholzer said. They love to get out on the break and have scored 17.8 fastbreak points per game thus far this season, according to NBAstats.com. [Grizzlies](https://theathletic.com/nba/team/grizzlies/) in Memphis.
The Bucks were the victims of a rare blowout loss on Thursday against Ja Morant and the Grizzlies, ultimately falling 142-101.
Perhaps the image of Morant and Co. Ja Morant, who had a had a 25-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, was a part of the wave, as was Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks and others. "Give Memphis a lot of credit," Budenholzer said. I know that's a great feeling for the players to be involved with that wave. The Grizzlies' bench added another twist to the festivities, participating in a crowd wave with five minutes remaining in the game: But the Grizzlies, who like the Bucks pulled their starters before the end of the third quarter, clearly are not every team.
On Thursday, Memphis obliterated the Bucks, 142-101, in what goes down as the second-most lopsided victory over an opponent with at least a .700 winning ...
The Grizzlies have been defending like crazy of late, and Ja Morant is climbing the MVP ladder. They also score the second-most fast-break points, and indeed, they basically doubled up Milwaukee in that column (27-14). and [Desmond Bane](/nba/players/2268516/desmond-bane/), have yet to play a single minute together. Indeed, Memphis, which had eight players finish with double-digit points, outscored Milwaukee by almost 50 points in the paint (86-38). They score more paint points than any team in the league. A quick glance at the box score reveals what could be some surprising numbers.
Joe Ingles, who suffered a torn left ACL on Jan. 30, will have a 5-on-5 workout Saturday and is targeting Monday for his Bucks debut, sources told ESPN.
In 45 playoff games -- including 40 as a starter -- Ingles averaged 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Ingles, 35, signed a one-year, $6.5 million free agent deal with the Bucks in July and now brings his ability as a floor spacer and his years of proven playoff performances to Milwaukee's championship chase. Prior to the trade, Ingles spent his entire eight-year NBA career with the Jazz, averaging 8.6 points on 41% 3-point shooting in 590 games.
Ingles, who hasn't played since Jan. 30, signed a one-year deal with Milwaukee in the offseason.

That is going to take a bit of time, but fortunately, the Bucks have some to spare. Ingles can function as a sort of backup point guard at the forward spots, and he should run some pick-and-roll with Antetokounmpo once they've developed chemistry. For Ingles to be ready this quickly is quite impressive, and it gives the Bucks two sorely needed skills off their bench: shooting and playmaking. He was traded to the [Portland Trail Blazers](https://www.cbssports.com/nba/teams/POR/portland-trail-blazers/) while injured, but obviously did not play for them and was largely just cap filler.
“ESPN Sources: After nearly 10 months of rehabilitation on a torn left ACL, Milwaukee Bucks forward Joe Ingles is targeting his return vs. New Orleans on Monday ...
Giannis and the Bucks are surely thrilled for the return of Joe Ingles. However, this Bucks team will be a legitimate NBA Finals contenders if they can avoid the injury bug moving forward. “ESPN Sources: After nearly 10 months of rehabilitation on a torn left ACL, Milwaukee Bucks forward Joe Ingles is targeting his return vs.
The Utah Jazz will miss Joe Ingles return by just one game when they travel to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.
The Utah Jazz and the Bucks will tip off on Saturday at 6 pm MT in Milwaukee. [ 97.5 The KSL Sports Zone](https://kslsports.com/stream/). “Collin Sexton (right hamstring strain) was reevaluated yesterday, which included a follow up MRI,” the Jazz announced. “Once Ingles successfully completes a final 5-on-5 workout Saturday, that’ll be the last hurdle in his comeback.” “After nearly 10 months of rehabilitation on a torn left ACL, Milwaukee Bucks forward Joe Ingles is targeting his return vs. Ingles last suited up for the Jazz on January 30 when he tore his ACL in a road game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, I think the Memphis loss boils down more to effort because Milwaukee defenders just were not getting back in transition. Lest we forget that Milwaukee ...
[It appears likely](https://www.brewhoop.com/2022/12/16/23513005/report-joe-ingles-debuting-monday) we’ll get our first taste of Joe Ingles this week, which could put the team at its maximum depth should Holiday’s illness abate in the coming days. Reports are that Beauchamp was hit pretty hard by the illness currently afflicting Holiday, losing some weight and keeping him out an extra game or two. The pass to Lopez for Friday’s game-winner wasn’t perfect, but as we saw on Sunday, few Bucks can convert entry passes so close to the hoop. It might be time to give him a night or two off. Nearly everything in that 7–18 foot range fell in the last three matchups. Like nearly every Buck, he couldn’t hit anything from behind the arc, but he’s increasingly comfortable going to the rim (8/13 in the restricted area this week) and finishing impressively around longer defenders. Lately, he’s not looking for his own shot at all, and plays are being run for Middleton (not going well) or Allen (going rather well!) with varying success. He’s at least hitting the open shots he sees, though; more than can be said for most Bucks. It could be Middleton’s return or matchups (Dallas wasn’t a particularly good one for Lopez, despite the game-winner), but through much of the season, he’s carried the team through otherwise low-scoring first halves. I don’t know how much they missed Holiday taking on Golden State or how much he’d have helped defensively in Memphis, but these last two outings proved more—to me at least—about how critical he is within the offense. A mild ankle sprain on Sunday didn’t help, and after just six full games I’m certainly willing to give him more time, but any injury doesn’t seem to be the primary culprit here. No matter how long they are, Giannis should have had that edge.
The Milwaukee Bucks will be adding Joe Ingles to their lineup on Monday. Let's look at what kind of production Ingles can bring to the Bucks.
Additionally, Ingles is now 35, and it is hard to believe that he will be gaining any steps. There are a lot things that make Ingles a really solid addition to the Bucks. In early February, he was then traded to the Trailblazers in a deal that brought Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the Jazz. He made the playoffs five times with the Jazz and has played in 45 playoff games, playing a total of 1,407 minutes in the playoffs. There are certainly some questions about how Ingles will preform coming off of the knee injury. According to ESPN’s Adrain Wojnarowski, Bucks forward Joe Ingles is planning on making his season debut on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
