Denver Broncos Stock report: Wilson, Jeudy reach new 2022 peak (Mile High Sports)

The Denver Broncos turned in one of their best performances of the season, after a gruesome start. How much credit does Wilson deserve?

Dre’Mont Jones temporarily left this game with a lower-body injury, and although he returned, it was a scary moment for Denver Broncos fans, who have lost far too many of their stars to injury this season. The guy that was drafted to play center and looked horrible when forced out there against Jax. On the third drive, he missed Greg Dulcich on the first play, connected with Jerry Jeudy to create a third-and-short opportunity, and then sat back as Marlon Mack took a 66-yard screen to the house. It was a really nice drive from Wilson, and one of his best on the season. Margins are slim in the NFL, and the gap between the league’s second-quickest time-to-throw and the league’s second-slowest time-to-throw is 0.6 seconds. On the second drive, he was pedestrian through the air. He put his body on the line for the team, and his gut-filled effort nearly willed the Broncos to victory, and snapped their 13-game losing streak to a division rival. The touchdown pass is comfortably one of Wilson’s most impressive throws of the season. It looked like the Russell Wilson of old, and was something Broncos Country thought they’d be seeing much more of this season. Where were the moments that made you say ‘wow that was special!’ Did he do anything that you felt only a select few quarterbacks could do? He also was sent on multiple pressure looks by Ejiro Evero, and managed to force a Mahomes scramble with his pressure. So much of that perception is the product of him, on occasion, being absolutely torched by Kelce in man-to-man coverage.

Russell Wilson had arguably one of his best games in a Broncos uniform, throwing for 247yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game with a concussion.

However, they can still finish the season strong as they will face the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday. Defense just isn’t good this season Chiefs defense has allowed 21 points to the Broncos offense in 5 minutes.

Chiefs Defeat Broncos, 34-28, to Remain Unbeaten Against ... (chiefs.com)

The Kansas City Chiefs outlasted the Denver Broncos, 34-28, in a rollercoaster of a football game on Sunday that featured several swings in momentum and ...

It was part of a gritty defensive effort for Kansas City that the final score didn't do justice, as 14 of the Broncos' 28 points took place on short fields following interceptions. The performance was only two yards shy of matching his career-high of 114 receiving yards set back in 2017. Mahomes also topped 4,000 passing yards for the season in Sunday's victory, tallying his NFL-most fourth season with 4,000+ passing yards and 30+ passing touchdowns since 2018. The scoring drive – which ended with a 4-yard pass to wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster on third down – extended the Chiefs' lead to 13 points, but it didn't last long. Denver picked off Mahomes on each of the Chiefs' next two possessions and turned both into touchdowns, narrowing the deficit to just 13 points. Denver was out of timeouts and unable to stop the clock, creating an obvious running situation for the Chiefs that the Broncos had to stop if they wanted any chance of getting the ball back. The guys made some blocks downfield, and he scored a touchdown." It certainly didn't look like the Chiefs would require any fourth-quarter heroics early on, however, as Kansas City raced out to a 27-point lead prior to halftime. "I was committed to running, and then I saw that I was probably going to get hit, so I just kind of flicked it," Mahomes said. Pacheco's run was particularly impressive considering the context of the moment, as Kansas City was facing a 2nd-and-10 immediately following the two-minute warning. Each team recorded a streak of 21 unanswered points at different times during the game, but it all came down to the Chiefs' final possession that began with just under five minutes remaining in regulation. Then, four snaps later, tailback Isiah Pacheco was responsible for a powerful, bruising run that picked up another first down and effectively ended the game.

Three numbers that tell the story of Broncos-Chiefs (104.3 The Fan)

Russell Wilson ran in a way that he hasn't run in years ... and there is an alarming trend that is part and parcel of their struggles against AFC West foes.

That scoring tally is certainly an outlier; it matches his touchdown total for the 2022 season heading into Week 14. This is notable because against non-AFC West opponents, the Broncos surrender an average of just 1.7 touchdowns per home game in that span. The total of 11 one-score games is just one off the franchise record of 12, set in 1994 and 2015. (If it were seven or fewer points, the 2020 Broncos would have the record to themselves. Losses by one score for the Broncos this season. It was a glimpse of the Wilson of old.

Jerry Jeudy Speaks Out on Controversial Incident vs. Chiefs (Sports Illustrated)

Jerry Jeudy had something to say after his career-high day vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jeudy was unquestionably a catalyst on offense to finally give Broncos Country some excitement. Backup QB Brett Rypien entered the game and found Jeudy for his third touchdown of the day on a seven-yard strike with 10:49 left, giving No. [Arizona Cardinals](https://www.si.com/nfl/team/arizona-cardinals) in the Mile High City next Sunday. Denver's momentum ended as quickly as it began with Wilson's heroic 14-yard rush on a had-to-have-it third down, where he absorbed a hard hit, leading to a concussion with 12:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. “I was just—on that certain play, I got held,” Jeudy explained when asked about his frustrations post-game.“I was just frustrated because we didn’t have things going, so I was out there playing with frustration wanting to make a play for my team. Down 27-0 with over three-and-a-half minutes left in the second quarter, Broncos Country witnessed an enraged Jerry Jeudy yelling at a referee and shaking off teammates trying to console him. 10 a hattrick for the game. Then Jeudy doubled down by catching a five-yard touchdown pass on a seven-play, 60-yard drive.

Then he began to turn it around, as did his unit, and the Broncos practically shut down the Chiefs' offense for the second half. Maybe it was the new goatee, but Hackett looked like a legit head coach instead of a middle schooler in over his head. The issue with Bonitto, which killed his grade, was how bad he was against the run. Williams has had issues as a run defender all season, and the Chiefs attacked him in the run game. Surtain finally got his first interception on a great play by him and only allowed one catch in the game. He had a great game clogging up the middle against a tough interior offensive line. After being without Williams for a few games, it was a great return to the field. However, Wilson's costly mistake of throwing a pick-six was the difference in this game. He showed, in spurts, what this offense can be, even with all the injuries, when he is playing at the level that was expected when the Broncos mortgaged the future to acquire him. Jewell was all over the field for the Broncos' defense and baited Mahomes into a couple of interceptions. Unfortunately, the Broncos came up a little short when it mattered most, with three of their final five drives being a punt and another ending in an interception. A pick-six ended up being the difference-maker in Denver's 10th loss of the season.
