Bills vs. Jets live updates: Michael Carter loses fumble to crush New ... (Rochester Democrat and Chronicle)

Buffalo returns home for the first time in four weeks riding a three-game winning streak and is currently the top seed in the AFC.

Greg Rousseau dropped Mike White for a 9-yard sack and then Rousseau batted down a pass at the line before Michael Carter dropped a short pass on third down. Mike White completed to rookie Garrett Wilson for 10 yards on third-and-8. Zonovan Knight ran for 6 yards to the Jets' 41 before being stopped for no gain and White's pass fell short for C. Mike White converted a third-down throw before the Jets punted for the second time in as many possessions. Mike White completed to Garrett Wilson along the right sideline for 13 yards on third-and-12 and three plays later connected to Braxton Berrios for 25 yards to get into Bills' territory. Epenesa recorded a strip sack on White for an 11-yard loss and Carter ran for 3 yards before Braden Mann punted into the end zone. Knox took a hit as he leaped for the end zone and somersaulted in mid-air for the score. It's the 24th time Allen has thrown and rushed for a TD in the same game. Josh Allen completed to Stefon Diggs for 32 yards and a defensive pass interference penalty by cornerback Michael Carter II put the Bills in the red zone. Mike White completed to Garrett Wilson for 14 yards and Zonovan Knight sprinted for 13 yards. Josh Allen finished 16 of 27 for 147 yards and a touchdown and added 47 yards and a TD on 10 carries. Mike White completed to Tyler Conklin to 6 yards and Elijah Moore for 19 yards.

Bills WATCH: Dawson Knox Leaps For Epic TD; Buffalo Leads 7-0 ... (Sports Illustrated)

The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets seemed primed for a scoreless first half before Dawson Knox pulled something out of his hat late in the second quarter.

A hard hit on White from Ed Oliver forced the young quarterback out for two plays before he jumped back in for a 12-yard completion to Wilson again, though this merely served as a faint hope of some points on the board before New York punted ... Faced with a 3rd and 15, Allen scrambled and hurdled his way for a first down after a 16-yard run. Penalties quickly became a theme for both teams, but had an usually poor effect on the Bills at home. The Jets seemed ready to finally take advantage after White found receiver Elijah Moore for a 24-yard gain. Former Bills receiver John Brown recently made his return to the team and nearly had a huge play in his second game back. But Allen missed on a short slant to star receiver Stefon Diggs, as Buffalo went three-and-out amid the unfavorable conditions.

AFC playoff picture: Week 14 Buffalo Bills rooting interests (Buffalo Rumblings)

We're Bills fans; we root for the Bills to win. Mix a Bills victory with a Jets loss in this outcome, and Buffalo ends up with a three-game cushion on this ...

We’re Bills fans; we root for the Bills to win. But as long as we’re rooting for a Bengals loss, we may as well root for a Ravens loss too—and a two-game lead for the Bills over both North division title contenders. We’re using the same SOS/SOV logic as in the previous matchup, and the advantage there would be a Tampa Bay loss, as they have already been beaten by Kansas City and Baltimore. Another game of very little import, where we’re scraping the bottom of the tie-breaker barrel for reasons to care. They have to have one mesmerizingly good performance up their sleeves, that one late-season performance that gives the organization and its fans a glimmer of hope that they are not completely tanked for the lifetime of Wilson’s contract. A Baltimore win won’t hurt the Bills a ton, since it would guarantee that Baltimore stays atop the AFC North for another week (and behind Buffalo in the standings). There is therefore no SOV victory to be had here, but should the Giants lose, it would mean a small SOS hit for Baltimore, weakening a playoff contender in the final tie-breaking metric. Kudos to Cincinnati for knocking off Kansas City (for a third straight game!) last weekend, and helping the Bills vault back to the top of the AFC conference standings. Buffalo has played both of these teams, losing at home to Minnesota in what will hopefully end up being the team’s last loss of the season, and beating Detroit on the road on Thanksgiving Day. But while the Bills themselves won’t be scoreboard-watching, fans surely will. [Buffalo got (nearly) exactly the help they needed last Sunday](https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2022/12/4/23492373/buffalo-bills-rooting-interests-week-13-afc-playoff-picture), and after starting the week as the No. [Buffalo Bills](https://www.buffalorumblings.com/) rooting interests in the 2022 [AFC playoff picture](https://www.sbnation.com/nfl-playoff-picture) — one week ago today — we could not have asked for a much better outcome for the home team.

New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills – NFL Week 14 Preview (WHEC)

The Buffalo Bills play an important divisional game rematch with the New York Jets, falling on the road in week 9.

While they’re expecting consistency and for Rousseau to step up as the season winds down, that starts this week against the Jets. Sure, Buffalo’s already played one game without Von Miller, who was placed on IR the day of the Patriots game. Defensively, the Bills rattled 2nd-year quarterback Mac Jones. Buffalo lost to the Jets in week 9, 20-17, so this is also a bit more personal. It was a Bills running game that really took over. Buffalo rushed it 37 times for 132 yards and a TD.

He’s as competitive as it gets, and after a loss, he’s going to take it hard, but he knows when he wakes up the next day, you put the tape on and move on to the next one.” And Brady appreciates the opportunity he is getting. He can take the meeting room (information), and he hears everything you say, and take it to the field. He does a good job of doing it simply, but effectively and comprehensively at the same time. That created two-way conversations between Brady (the new guy) and Allen (fifth year in system), Keenum (on his eighth team) and Barkley (fifth organization). “I had the best experience in the sense that the guy (Dorsey) who has spent the most time with him over the past few years and knows him better than anybody in the organization was the guy I was learning from,” Brady said. He was the same Joe Brady as he was on the field. And this year – after a meteoric rise to the spotlight of college football and the pressure cooker of the NFL – has served as a reset. Brady moved on to spend two years apiece at Penn State (graduate assistant) and the Saints (offensive assistant). Even after a 5-12 season in 2020, Brady interviewed for the head-coaching openings with Philadelphia, Atlanta and the Jets. Brady doesn’t call the plays for the Bills and might capitalize on being around a different system and approach. Brady took a step back – coordinator to position coach – and has benefited in the short term.

In his rookie year, Rousseau had a pass-rush win rate of 13.8%, which ranked 57th in the NFL among pass rushers with at least 100 pass-rush snaps. This is because Bills one technique defensive tackle Daquan Jones is receiving pass-rush double teams on a significant level (just shy of 70% of pass-rush snaps), with only two defensive tackles (Aaron Donald and Quinton Jefferson) receiving double teams at a higher rate. Per Seth Walder of ESPN Analytics, Miller had received a double team on fewer than 20% of his pass-rush snaps, with 17 pass rushers with a meaningful sample size to qualify ahead of him. He is 10th in the NFL in pass-rush win rate among edge rushers with at least 100 pass rush snaps, per Pro Football Focus. Everything was going well with that plan until Miller suffered a torn ACL, sidelining him for at least the remainder of the 2022 season. I’m Bruce Nolan with Buffalo Rumblings.

Buffalo Bills 20, New York Jets 12: Rapid recap and notes (Buffalo Rumblings)

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner was able to close in and break up the pass, which arrived in Brown’s arms at the goalline. It’s only six days away, but on Saturday night, the Bills host the Miami Dolphins (8-4) hoping to avenge two losses in two weeks. - Although the Bills offense was held in check today, they avoided the most important mistakes: turnovers. They couldn’t make any meaningful progress, though, and on their own punt attempt, Jets rookie Jermaine Johnson blew threw the line to block the punt and force a safety. Those themes continued throughout the closing minutes of the game: in the fourth quarter, the Bills offense ran 14 plays, gained 22 yards, and punted three times (with one safety). Once again, Buffalo had a solid drive-starter (a 16 yard run by Singletary), then sputtered in Jets territory, but Tyler Bass nailed the 49-yard field goal attempt and extended the team’s lead to 13 points. Their first three plays gained nine yards and took 1:46 off the clock, and so the Bills lined up at their own 39 yard line on a 4th and 1 attempt. This one sent White to the locker room, and on the very next play, Joe Flacco was sacked by Greg Rousseau and fumbled, which DaQuan Jones recovered. Jackson was the closest defender on two successive passes that gave up 37 yards, and he was also flagged for defensive holding (which the Jets declined) on another play. Both defenses did a great job controlling the line of scrimmage, and the Jets secondary did well on contested catch attempts, and the rain and sleet contributed to some misfired throws for both teams. The first half was, depending on your perspective, a 27-minute slog or a showcase of defensive players and playcalling. It ended with a 20-12 win for the Bills.

Despite win over Jets, Bills offensive line still a major issue that's ... (amNY)

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott watches from the sideline during the second half of an NFL football game against the Detroit Lions, Thursday, Nov.

While the Bills were still able to hold on and win on Sunday, the offensive line stands out as a glaring weakness on a team that has been playing inconsistent football for almost two months now. On the next drive, on a 3rd and 3 from the Jets’ 29-yard line with 12:44 left in the game, the Bills allowed immediate pressure on Allen, who got was brought down behind the line of scrimmage, which forced another field goal attempt. On the next play, a seven-yard run by Isaiah McKenzie to the Jets’ 20-yard line was wiped out by another holding call on Dawkins. On a 3rd-and-2, Josh Allen rushed for a first down to the Jets’ 37-yard line, but it was wiped out after a holding call on Dion Dawkins. Sunday’s game against the Jets was just another example of the offensive line continuing to underperform. The issues have been so glaring at times that, heading into the trade deadline, many expected Buffalo to make a move for more offensive line help.

Bills, Josh Allen Stave Off Jets for Weather-Filled Win (Sports Illustrated)

The Buffalo Bills got some sweet revenge -- and a much-needed divisional win -- in another defensive-filled affair against the New York Jets on Sunday.

A short field for the Bills wasn't fully taken advantage of though, as yet another holding call put Buffalo behind the chains before kicker Tyler Bass nailed a 38-yard field goal to extend the lead to 17-7. And once again, it came through, as New York stopped Allen on what could've been a game-sealing third-down conversion to get the ball back with under a minute left. But the Jets took a major blow when White exited for the second time of the game and was replaced again by veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. But at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, it was the Bills who brought the frustration to the Jets, as another defensive-filled game saw [Buffalo come out on top with a 20-12 win.](https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-new-york-jets-live-updates-josh-allen) Buffalo quickly responded with the longest play of the game at that point, as Diggs scurried for a 32-yard gain. Top 3 things we learned from Bills vs. Jets | Week 14 (BuffaloBills.com)

Milano, Rousseau make game-changing plays, offense fights to find rhythm and Bills do enough to stay on top of AFC standings.

The Bills added a second touchdown drive in the third quarter after the Jets tied the game at seven on their first possession of the second half. Penalties also put them in long down and distance allowing the Jets' pass rush to get home, sacking Josh Allen three times and hitting on four other drop backs. "Plenty to work on starting with fundamentals and then some things obviously that didn't go our way we got to get better at," said McDermott. A two-minute drill at the end of the half broke a scoreless stalemate as both defensive units dominated the play. Buffalo's defense however, had to get two more stops defensively as the Bills offense was unable to run out the clock going three-and-out on a pair of possessions after defensive stops. On a day when the offense was out of sync for much of the first half, Buffalo's defense had the game on lock down. Their 232 total net yards were a season low, with their previous low of 317 coming at the hands of the same Jets' defense. Following a safety on a blocked punt by the Jets that tightened the score to 20-9, New York's offense had marched into Jets' territory with 7:30 left in regulation. I thought second, third quarter we got into a little bit of a rhythm." You see a difference when we don't have Matt Milano and when we got him." With Buffalo up 14-7, Milano triggered on a delayed blitz on a Jets' 1st-and-10 at midfield and drilled his shoulder pad into QB Mike White's rib cage just as he delivered the football. His two sacks Sunday pushed him past his single-season high of five in his rookie season as he now has seven on the season.

The one schematic move that gave the Buffalo Bills' offense a little bit of a jolt of energy was the no-huddle formation Sunday against the New York Jets, ...

At the end of the run, he leapt and was spun around in the air like a helicopter on a hit by linebacker Quincy Williams. Knox caught the ball at the Jets 7 then did a front flip over Gardner and just over the goal line. Knox, running from a bunch formation just inside of Diggs, ran up toward the middle of the field then broke to the right sideline. Center Mitch Morse stayed level with his linemen and blocked up a twist stunt by Lawson coming up the middle. “And I felt like he got some width with James, and I just followed the guys in. Singletary ran short to the right flat. Mosley - were frozen momentarily by a fake handoff to James Cook, who sprinted to the left. “That’s a tough play for him to cover Diggs,” McKenzie said. Whithead had no chance to catch him, and Diggs sprinted down the right sideline. Allen caught the Jets in a five-man blitz, with one safety deep, which left the five Bills receivers all in man-to-man coverage. The Bills have used the empty set 67 times the past five games, against the Vikings, Browns, Lions, Patriots and Jets. Their empty-formation plays averaged 6 yards a play on a day when the Jets were not yielding much.

'Game changer,' 'playmaker,' 'special dude': Matt Milano again ... (Buffalo News)

Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson needs just a few words to sum up linebacker Matt Milano's impact. “Game changer when we have him,” Lawson said.

It was the third of five consecutive drives that ended with a Jets punt. Tackling was a point of emphasis this week for the Bills, who missed a number of tackles the last time they faced New York. His game reiterated what he can do for the Bills' defense, but it came as no surprise. He also got his hands around Jets quarterback Mike White as well, in a pulverizing hit that sent White to the locker room with a ribs injury. White got the pass off just as Milano closed in on the direct shot without a penalty. He made big plays over the field, got his hand on a couple balls.” As he was headed to the ground, safety Damar Hamlin saw an opportunity to punch the ball out, but he couldn’t immediately tell if he had been successful. The Jets punted two plays later, on fourth-and-17, after going three-and-out again. “You could tell from the last game to this game, he was out. Coach Sean McDermott said Milano had suffered the injury early in last week’s victory over the Patriots, but he didn’t miss a snap on defense. “But he is a special, special dude.” You see a difference when we don't have Matt Milano and when we got him.”

Bills 20, Jets 12 penalty recap: A tough day for Dion Dawkins (Buffalo Rumblings)

Buffalo was called for eight penalties, and three were declined. Dawkins accounted for half of the called flags, with four, but only one of them was declined.

Also, this was a six-yard flag, which isn’t the usual amount. Let’s take a look at the replay. On the holding trio by Dawkins, the first wiped out a five-yard scramble by quarterback Josh Allen on 3rd & 2. The false starts, offensive holding by long snapper Thomas Hennessy, and defensive holding from nickel back Michael Carter were all assessed for yards only. When it comes to yards negated, Buffalo did a bit worse there, but not enough to close the gap. Stay for the GIFs! Buffalo was called for eight penalties, and three were declined. [New York Jets](https://www.ganggreennation.com/) quarterback Mike White a shout-out, since this is sort of my recap post for the week. It seems pretty rare where a player has more than one flag of a particular type in a given game. Buffalo had three declined, though, so our initial look at flags favors the Bills with two fewer penalties assessed. Since this is the penalty recap, I’ll go on record and say they were clean hits made by [Buffalo Bills](https://www.buffalorumblings.com/) defenders. White took two of the hardest hits a quarterback has received in a long time without drawing a flag.

"A heck of a Superman heroic performance" | Dawson Knox plays ... (BuffaloBills.com)

The TE led the offense with four receptions for 41 receiving yards and the Bills' lone receiving TD.

"Gets the guy to jump offsides and ends with the touchdown and he obviously ran a heck of a route and made a heck of a Superman heroic performance type dive there to get in," Allen added. But just being able to put some points on the board for the offense was fun." "It essentially just levels off to the right, got a guy going deep, a guy in the flat, and me kind of right in the middle, Knox said. "That was a first for me," Knox said. The successful execution that Knox detailed came down to the final acrobatic move that got him into the end zone. With no intention to snap the ball, the goal was to draw the New York Jets defense offsides and tight end Dawson Knox ensured that happened by lining up under center to give the impression of a 'tight end sneak'.

Report card: Bills top Jets, 20-12 (Bills Wire)

Josh Allen did not have a stellar afternoon through the air, going 16-of-27 for 147 yards and a touchdown pass. To be fair, his receivers did not help it out ...

It was not a convincing win for the Bills, by any means. The remainder of the secondary was adequate. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier did well getting his unit to put pressure on the Jets quarterbacks. Sean McDermott’s failed challenge looked more like it was thrown to appease White, who complained on the play, than anything else. Jermaine Johnson came through untouched, which is concerning for Buffalo since it was quite an oversight at an important moment in the game. It’s worrisome that Dorsey did not have the confidence to run the ball in this game. The unit received some help when defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier dialed up more help on blitzes. Milano ended the game with team-high nine tackles. Knox gained most of the yards after the catch and spun his way across the goal line. They also had no answers for Quinnen Williams, until he left the field with an injury. The Bills’ running attack was largely invisible. Still, Allen did not take over in a way that we are accustomed to seeing.

Bills studs and duds after their Week 14 win over the Jets ... (amNY)

White didn’t have his best game and was certainly beaten at times by standout rookie Garrett Wilson, but the big news is that he played 100% of the snaps for the Bills for the first time all season. He also set the internet on fire with an absolutely vicious hit on Jets quarterback Mike White that sent him to the locker room for a period for X-rays on his ribs. In the first game against the Jets, the Bills were without their star linebacker and allowed the Jets to rush for 174 yards on 5.1 yards per carry. When Von Miller was placed on the IR and ruled out for the season, there was a lot of speculation about how the Bills could possibly replace what he gave them. “Groot,” as he’s known due to his long stature, was tremendous against the Jets, with two sacks, another two quarterback hits, a pressure, a tackle for a loss, and a pass batted at the line of scrimmage. On Sunday, the Jets ran for just 76 yards on 22 carries, for 3.5 yards per carry. Then you have the final drive the Bills, which was looking to run out the clock on the Jets, but Dorsey called a play-action pass on first down. The fact that Devin Singletary ran for 39 yards on eight carries, 4.9 yards per carry, and was not given more opportunities makes no sense. The offensive line was also called for seven penalties, five of them accepted, and were responsible for stalling numerous drives. Next to him, Saffold continues to prove to be a major miss in the free agent class from this offseason. McKenzie and Crowder were set to share the slot receiver role because Crowder is far better at finding the weak spots against zone coverage. The win brought the Bills to 10-3 and, after Miami’s loss on Sunday night, into a two-game lead in the AFC East.

3 Takeaways from Jets' Week 14 Loss vs. Bills (Bleacher Report)

It's never easy to go on the road to take on the Buffalo Bills, especially in wintry weather conditions. But the New York Jets gave their AFC East rival a.

But Saleh remains confident the Jets are going to end the NFL's longest active playoff drought. The Jets are no longer in a playoff position at the end of Week 14. That would put New York in last place in the AFC East. In Week 9, the Bills scored only 17 points and committed two turnovers in a loss to the Jets. That's why the Jets had a chance to pull out a late victory on Sunday. He briefly exited in the third quarter due to a rib injury, but he returned to finish the game.

This Buffalo Bills-Themed House Has The Best Christmas Lights (wyrk.com)

During this time of year, there are tons of light displays that pop up all over Western New York and across the border in Ontario.

This house in Western New York has stepped it up this year with their light display. I think my favorite part is when Josh Allen flashes on the garage and sings the “hey-ey-ey-ey!” in the Shout! I wonder how long it took to set up all these lights with the music.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Week 14 Recap (Buffalo Fanatics)

The Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets in a defensive duel 20-12 yesterday, avenging their Week 9 loss in New Jersey.

AFC playoff picture: Buffalo Bills can clinch postseason berth in ... (Buffalo Rumblings)

Here's how the Bills can clinch a playoff spot with a win on Saturday night against Miami.

An 11-6 Bills team would be 3-3 in the AFC East, and an 11-6 Jets team would be 3-3 in the division. The tiebreaker would move to record versus common opponent, where the Bills would win. If Miami wins out, the Jets and Patriots would both finish with at least seven losses. [New York Jets](https://www.ganggreennation.com/) and [New England Patriots](https://www.patspulpit.com/) both sit at six losses this morning, joining the hypothetical six-loss Dolphins. The majority of the AFC already has six losses or more right now. [Mike White](https://www.nfl.com/players/mike-white/) displayed his toughness, returning twice after getting injured on bone-crushing hits. "The epitome of what hopefully everyone in this locker room is willing to do to win." The QB went to the hospital after the game for a precautionary checkup but traveled home with the team. Buffalo Vs. Jets Round 3? Coach Robert Saleh: 'We'll See Bills Again!' (Sports Illustrated)

Following their 20-12 loss in Week 14, New York Jets coach Robert Saleh does not believe that his team has seen the last of the Buffalo Bills in 2022.

[Buffalo Bills](https://www.si.com/nfl/team/buffalo-bills) ... here!](https://sitickets.com/performer/buffalo-bills?utm_source=fannation&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=buffalo-bills) If the Bills maintain the top seed, New York would require a win on Wild Card Weekend to earn a showdown with the Bills the following week. With their offense struggling to find traction on a slick field, Buffalo’s defense combined for four sacks, forced two turnovers While his words may fall short of being a guarantee, Saleh is clearly convinced that both the Bills and Jets are destined to face off in the playoffs. Despite completing only 16 of 27 passes for 147 yards, quarterback Josh Allen threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dawson Knox in the closing minute of the second quarter.

He totaled 41 yards and one TD on four receptions, some of his best work all season. Spencer Brown has been a revolving door all season, allowing three sacks and five penalties called on him. But, as Bills fans are accustom to saying, a win is a win.
