Zach LaVine, Ayo Dosunmu active on Bulls-Nets injury report (NBC Sports Chicago)

Zach LaVine and Ayo Dsounmu will play in the Bulls' Tuesday night matchup against the Nets.

Dosunmu, meanwhile, suffered a thoracic contusion after taking a hard fall in the third quarter of the Spurs game. After two off days, the Bulls begin a back-to-back set Tuesday in Brooklyn which concludes Wednesday at home against the Hornets. Averaging 9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1 steal while playing just 16.8 minutes per game this season, Drummond has been a stabilizing presence for a second string frontcourt that runs small without him, so he will be missed for however many absences he accrues.

Bulls' Zach LaVine outscores Nets in fourth quarter of comeback win (NBC Sports Chicago)

Zach LaVine outscored the Brooklyn Nets' entire team in the fourth quarter of a 108-99 Bulls win Tuesday night.

That was a break from a first seven games of the season that saw the Bulls rank 30th in the NBA in fourth quarter offensive rating, shooting 33.6 percent from the field and 13-for-45 (28.9 percent) from beyond the arc in the final 12 minutes of games. Despite scoring just two points in the fourth quarter, Durant was a problem for the Bulls for most of the night. Between the final five minutes of the first quarter and the end of the third, he scored 30 points on 8-for-12 shooting, plus 12-for-12 from the free-throw line. But after a handful of intentional attempts to establish him in the post early went wayward, he struggled to a final offensive line of 7 points on 3-for-8 shooting. Irving missed his first seven shots of the game, including some open jumpers, and failed to score until the 10:20 mark of the fourth quarter. The opening two quarters represented the third-year forward's best half of basketball of the season, with 8 points (4-for-7 shooting), 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in 18 minutes. In all, the Bulls outscored the Nets 31-19 in the fourth quarter, at one point engineering a 17-2 run to go from down 88-84 to ahead 101-90, and shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 5-for-7 from 3-point range. And then it was Zach LaVine, who labored through three quarters to the tune of 9 points on 4-for-11 shooting, but came alive in winning time, scoring 15 points (5-for-6 shooting, 3-for-3 from 3-point range) in the first 6 minutes, 23 seconds of the fourth quarter. First, it was Ayo Dosunmu, slashing to the rim for a layup after the Bulls fell behind 88-84 on a Royce O'Neale jumpshot, then minutes later assisting a Caruso 3-pointer, goading Kyrie Irving into an offensive foul out of a timeout and finishing that possession with another lay-in to put his side ahead 91-88. In addition to sublimely defending Irving (2-for-12 shooting) all night, Dosunmu later speared two steals in the final three minutes to ice the contest. In the first quarter, after which Brooklyn led 27-25 thanks to a scoring flurry by Kevin Durant, the Nets shot 5-for-10 from deep, 9-for-19 (47.1 percent) in the first half, overall. engineered a 12-4 run in the final 3 minutes, 14 seconds of the third to send the Bulls into the fourth trailing just 80-77.

Instead, we are going to look at a defensive-minded parlay. If DeRozan and Durant both go over 30 points, and Irving and LaVine go over 20 points, the parlay pays off at (+800). The Nets are 1.5-point favorites, probably due to the uncertainty of the Bulls’ injury situation and Vaughn’s freshness - he hasn’t been worn down answering questions about YouTube videos, conspiracy theories, the flatness of the Earth, or vaccine denial like Nash had. Nets fall apart in fourth in ugly loss to Bulls after Steve Nash fired ... (amNY)

Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (8) drives against Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant (7) during the first half of an NBA basketball game Tuesday, Nov.

The Nets extended their lead to eight after Royce O’Neale made a driving layup, but the Bulls put up five quick points to close the gap. A pair of free throws with 4:52 left cut Brooklyn’s deficit to three and a pull-up jumper a few minutes later tied the game at 17. Nash had dealt with plenty of turmoil during his tenure as the Nets coach both on and off the court. Durant also added two blocks and a steal, but he looked out of sorts in the final minutes of the game making uncharacteristic mistakes that resulted in him finishing with six turnovers as well. It was a fourth-quarter collapse that sealed the ugly Brooklyn loss, which saw the Nets solely rely on Kevin Durant to carry the offense and Kyrie Irving had one of his worst games in recent memory. And it was LaVine that had eight points during the roughly two-plus minute stretch where the Nets lost control of the game.

If the problem was the record, then firing Steve Nash wasn't an immediate solution.

Instead, LaVine keyed a 5-0 run to push Chicago’s lead to 12 and prompt fans to exit Barclays Center. Zach LaVine’s shooting touch helped put the Bulls over the top, as two straight 3s from LaVine extended Chicago’s lead to nine with just under six minutes to go. “You play back-to-back games, takes a lot of effort out of us,” interim coach Jacque Vaughn said.

Zach LaVine torches Nets in 4th quarter, Bulls beat Brooklyn 108-99 (Bulls.com)

LaVine scored 20 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Nets in the final period as the Bulls improved to 4-4 on the season.

The 2-6 Nets were without Ben Simmons and Seth Curry and playing the second of a back to back. The Bulls stayed in Manhattan and had to bus to Brooklyn, which can be a six-hour ride at times. Again for the Bulls, it was the shock troops as the Bulls out hustled and outplayed a dispirited Nets group down the stretch. And then when the Bulls had that problem to start again, this time the second half with the Nets taking a 58-52 halftime lead quickly to 68-56 and 76-65 late in the third quarter. The Bulls outrebounded the Nets 45-38 led by Nikola Vučević’s 15, dug out a 20-6 edge on second chance points and 15-7 with fast breaks. “For us, it was sticking with it the whole game,” said LaVine. But a 12-4 Bulls close to the third with DeRozan getting on track got the Bulls to trail 80-77 after three. And then with the result in doubt after the Nets took an 88-84 lead with 8:44 left, LaVine went all Steph. “Ayo even in his second year is a vocal leader on our team,” said LaVine. Kevin Durant soldiered on with 32 points, but perhaps it was a good omen for the NBA. We were all being vocal in the timeouts and encouraging each other. This time, especially with Tuesday’s 108-99 Bulls win over the Broken, err Brooklyn Nets, LaVine was Steph Curry.
