Brandin Cooks' Twitter likes hint at Cowboys, Vikings trade desires (ClutchPoints)

Houston Texans WR Brandin Cooks was seen liking Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings rumors ahead of the 2022 NFL trade deadline.

The Vikings (6-1) and Cowboys (6-2) both figure to be playoff teams in 2022, and Cooks would get the opportunity to join a contender for the stretch run of the season. Cooks’ recent Twitter activity showed the wide receiver liking posts linking him with trades to the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys, suggesting he has an interest in those two organizations as potential landing spots. Brandin Cooks to Cowboys Trade Rumor: Why Texans WR's 'Not ... (Sports Illustrated)

Brandin Cooks is at the center of trade inquiries as teams have explored trade scenarios involving the Texans' team captain and leading receiver.

And what is the Cooks perspective? What is the Dallas perspective? It is what it is. Meanwhile, the front office is apparently trying to get way ahead with a "Super Bowl trade.'' They would net just $967,533 in net cap savings immediately this year and $10.398 million in 2023. (There's also this: Financially, the Texans would eat $8.782 million in dead money this year and $16.22 million in dead money in 2023 if they traded Cooks.

NFL Trade Deadline: Brandin Cooks, Kareem Hunt, Cam Akers, and ... (Pro Football Network)

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, let's examine the fantasy impact of potential moves for Brandin Cooks, Kareem Hunt, Cam Akers, and others.

Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see him moved ahead of the deadline. The Rams would be the most intriguing, just because of the mess that their backfield has been this year. You could make the case that almost any move for Akers would be an increase in value. Yet, it’s tough to see a destination where Akers would go and be a starter. The Miami Dolphins have also been mooted as a destination, but that would be equally messy. Equally, Cooks’ arrival would be a hammer blow to the fantasy values of Tyquan Thornton and Garrett Wilson. Most likely, we would be talking about a very slight increase in the fantasy value of Cooks. Short-term, it might be a slight increase in value with the Eagles having a more potent offense. The Giants would also be an intriguing landing spot, as they have a void for a WR1. However, in both situations, Cooks would be the clear No. Any move would hurt the upside of the likes of Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, and Christian Watson, but none of those have been that reliable as fantasy assets this season. With the likes of Brandin Cooks, Kareem Hunt, Cam Akers, Chase Claypool, and Nyheim Hines among the names that could be on the move, the landscape for fantasy could shift considerably.

Sitting in a tie for second place in the AFC East with the Jets, the Dolphins (5-3) will be armed with a former Pro Bowl pass rusher. At this point last week, Chubb was expected to bring in a Miller-like haul (second- and third-round picks), but the Broncos discussed Chubb with more than 10 teams; a first-rounder was reported to be on the table since Sunday morning. The Broncos needed to make a decision: accept an offer including a first-round pick or attempt to extend Chubb in 2023. He and Mostert are in line to lead the Dolphins backfield for the remainder of the season after Chase Edmonds was included in the package sent to the Broncos for pass rusher Bradley Chubb. The Jaguars are making a bet for the future. Wilson represented one of several veterans at the position who either have been (or have been rumored to be) on the move in advance of the deadline. The Nets are 28th in points per 100 possessions defensively and are the worst defensive rebounding team in the NBA. Wilson will also resume his work in a tandem with Raheem Mostert in the backfield for Miami, just as the pair did in San Francisco. The Bulls are dead last in the NBA in defensive effective field goal percentage, allowing a 57.2% effective field goal percentage. In a video breakdown of Tampa Bay linebacker Devin White's play on Instagram, Sapp blasted the linebacker's effort in a 27-22 loss Thursday to the Ravens. For however long, the loss is a difficult one for the Devils. Those close to the situation in Dallas tell CowboysSI.com that the Cowboys are "trying to wrap their heads around'' the idea of Cooks, who comes with a 2023 salary guarantee of $18 million.

He remains Houston's best receiver, leading the team by a wide margin in targets (53), catches (32), and receiving yards (354). Cooks expressed frustration with the Texans after he wasn't moved by the deadline, and it's unclear if he'll suit up for Thursday night's game against Philadelphia. Given his middling production, it's tempting to say "bench him" and move on, but with six teams on bye and reliable WR production tough to find on the waiver wire, Cooks will still figure into start 'em, sit 'em discussions as long as he's playing.

It’s clear that Cooks isn’t thrilled about being on a rebuilding team at this stage in his career, although Cooks knew or should have known when he signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Texans in April that they weren’t likely to be a good team.
